my undisputed hero of the bible is known by several names, depending on who you talk to...devil, satan, lucifer, etc.. read it, and you'll find that he was the only one who really stood up for you.. he asserted that you could make decisions for yourself...and told you the very real truth that, just because the piece of meat in your chest stops thumping, you positively do not 'die'.. he was your hero.

he stood up to a daddy-maniac and said, 'just because you made us doesnt mean you have the right to tell us what to do.

i thought we were free?'.

Apostasy my ass!

let's call it what it is - disagreeing with the watchtower bible and tract society after baptism into the cult.

in no way is the literal definition of the word "apostasy" applicable to what the cult is using the word for.

it is a buzz word that scares the crap out of the rank and file and keeps them from communicating with those who have become enlightened about the cults lies.. we here on jwn have accepted the wt label, "apostates", with a sense of humor, such as calling our get togethers apostafests, etc.. but we are actually the "enlightened"..

The big thing is to recognize the difference between apostasy and hypocrisy

apostasy:noun.renunciation of one's religious faith or ones principles or party etc.

hypocrisy:noun.simulation of virtue or goodness, insincerity.

The above is taken from the Oxford Dictionary. Clearly, apostasy is an act of openly giving up a belief, whilst hypocrisy is an act of pretending to be good and sincere. Quite a difference!

Now take a look at this, see how the NWT substitutes the word "apostate", where other translations use "hypocrite" instead.

We know we are created in God's image because the Bible tells us so in Genesis 1:27 where we read, "And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them." Now, this event happened before the fall of man .

So no doubt this statement had greater meaning back then , however I feel that being in the image of God mainly has reference to the spiritual qualities

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law

The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 andenvy; drunkenness, orgies
