Help! what jw event am i trying to avoid this weekend?
by 4mylove inmother in law called last night.
i could tell by the hubbies responses that she was inviting him to something that is taking place this weekend in east tx.. can anyone shed any light on what assembly, meeting, or whatever the fudge it is that i will be trying to avoid attending?
i asked him if we were going to go visit his parents this weekend, didn't want to ask what she had asked him to attend.. i hate when she does this.

Things That Irritated You When You Were A JW
by minimus inthere were some witnesses that loved taking notes for every meeting.
whatever you would say, the note takers were busy as a bee writing down every word.
especially if you went out of town to give a talk, certain ones (only sisters) would take their note taking very very seriously.. another thing that used to get to me was when you'd see the same people every assembly on the platform giving a talk or being in a part.

petty rules.. no colored shirts... must wear suit coat at 100 degrees F.. no pant suits for women at 40 below
no back row seating must move to front...meeting in blizzards....head covering to women.. beating a 2
year old that can't sit for 2 hours ...car groups with people you have nothing in common with.. must buy
a 4 door car ... book study about day after a huge assembly....taking notes you'll never use ..no mustache
the list is endless !

In the Bible, what does" stop judging " mean to you ?
by caliber inmatthew 7:1, 2--stop judging that you may not be judged; 2 for with what judgment you are judging, you will be judged.
the greek word in that verse is krino.
there are seven (7) different meanings to that one word.

Whether or not you are judging the person or deed is a thorny area indeed !
It is much like" morality versus ethics"
What is the difference between Ethics and Morality?
Morality is based on the common, accepted behavior of the times, Ethics is based on perceptions of fundamental reality.
Morals are rules and customs of behavior that are determined to be right based on "norms"; behavior accepted by the majority in a society. Morals may be rational and they may be irrational.
Ethics are rules of behavior that are determined based on what is believed to be a rational understanding of reality. Ethics are always rational, relative to that understanding. In the USA, today (Saturday, March 08, 2003 6:32 AM), where there is any standard at all, it is a moral standard, and it is dominated by the Christian belief system.
