For the ladies: 5 Tips on Proper Geek Male Maintenance
by Elsewhere in5 tips on proper geek male maintenancegeek males often work in fields that cause them to have to think a great deal and work long or irregular hours.
this generally results in what i call hurty brain*.
*hurty brain stems from the repeated misfiring of synapses that occurs when a question is asked of a geek that is light years behind what they specialize in.

Strange things happen to the rich and famous I heard of one such story where a famous NBA player did have sex
with a women, with a condom. As the story came out she retrieved the condom with it's contents
share it with one of her girl friends who became pregnant and this women sued for child support with DNA evidence.
The truth came out in the end but it shows to what extent greed will take some people !
Somewhat off topic but does make a point !

Regional Identities in the UK - A short guide for Americans
by besty inso the uk is divided into 4 separate countries - the big bit called england that has wales on the side and scotland at the top with northern ireland off on its own island.. each country has multiple cultural identities.
broadly speaking (and i generalize) the wealth of england (and the uk generally) is concentrated in london, the 'rust belt' is in the middle namely birmingham and manchester and the north of england tends to be poorer.. scotland - where i'm from - is culturally rich but economically poor.
there is a long-standing argument about how wealthy scotland could have been if it had been able to keep all the north sea oil revenue instead of sending it to london.

I don't want to pretend I know more about Britain than our English friends here ..but I did do
a little reading about Geordie accents a few years ago, it is a fairly different accent from the rest so stands
out and can be a source of jokes as follows . (for Snowbird )

Say Majestic you make quite a poet and tourist guide !!!! ...
But out here in the home counties we enjoy magnificent scenery, not with the same ruggedness as Scotland, but with the beauty and serenity of old English charm. Dotted around the prestigious area here are a lot of the rich and famous, and this is very good for employment
..
Oh, and we all have the lovely English accent and drink tea, play cricket and are just so polite and gentlemanly and well mannered. We would be delighted if any foreigner would care to visit. Our hospitality is second to none…….

Ambition in older age - watch out you thirty somethings
by eyeslice ina couple of topics recently have made me think.
first, there was snowbird's "i think i am getting old" and the news that farrah fawcett has died at the relatively young age of 62.. also, the economic down turn has started older people wondering if retirement as we used to know it will be a thing of the past.
i am 56 years old but somehow never see myself retiring in the traditional sense of the word.. i am beginning to think that we are beginning to the time when older people will become more and more ambitious.

And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.

Farrah Fawcett died today.
by I quit! in"ap - farrah fawcett, the "charlie's angels" star whose feathered blond hair and dazzling smile made her one of the biggest sex symbols of the 1970s, died thursday after battling cancer.
i never was a fan of charlie's angels but i remember what a big thing it was.
i remember thermo cups and beach towel with her picture on them.

Life cut short is always sad . But sadness is for those left to mourn !
See not the medieval visions of hell...but a place of light and love..then walk the road with
acceptance and peace !
In the night of death, hope sees a star, and listening love can hear the rustle of a wing. ~Robert Ingersoll
