@Found, I see your post on page 3 about halfway down.
- some loser once took offense that i hugged a sister goodbye at a leaving do and ran back to the elders like a little child telling on me.
i was 15, this sister was in her 40s at the time.. - this elder said someone told him they saw me with a copy of the sun newspaper.
yes, this paper is known for its 'page 3' topless girls but far from pornagraphic and i wasn't even thinking along those lines.. - one brother who had a good job was 'counselled' because he was actually able to buy himself nice things including a new car (shock, horror!!

it was a beautiful, sunny day.
i was in the supermarket doing an early morning shop when i see an old friend of the family, a jw sister.. she asked me if i'd gone to the memorial and i told her no.
she said that the end is so close what with all the earthquakes and brother truthseeker, you need to come back to jehovah otherwise you will die and so will your children.

What about God's first name? For some reason, it seems to me that you have no idea what it is, but here's a hint: I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Now, using this hint, here's the question: What is God's first name? Please answer.
@djeggnog
Encyclopedia Americana:
“Jehovah — erroneous form of the name of the G-d of Israel.”
(Encyclopedia Americana, vol. 16., 1972 ed.)
Encyclopedia Britannica:
“The Masoretes who from the 6th to the 10th century worked to reproduce the original text of the Hebrew Bible replaced the vowels of the name YHWH with the vowel signs of Adonai or Elohim. Thus the artificial name Jehovah came into being.”(“Yahweh,” The New Encyclopedia Britannica, vol. 12, 1993 ed.)
The Jewish Encyclopedia:
“Jehovah — a mispronunciation of the Hebrew YHWH the name of G-d. This pronunciation is grammatically impossible.”
(“Jehovah,” The Jewish Encyclopedia, vol. 7, 1904 ed.)
The New Jewish Encyclopedia:
“It is clear that the word Jehovah is an artificial composite.”
(“Jehovah,” The New Jewish Encyclopedia, 1962 ed.)
According to the Encyclopedia Judaica, p. 680, vol. 7, “the true pronunciation of the tetragrammaton YHWH was never lost. The name was pronounced Yahweh . It was regularly pronounced this way at least until 586 B.C., as is clear from the Lachish Letters written shortly before this date.”

This thread again reminds me why ... Brevity is the Soul of Wit ..
The proverb 'brevity is the soul of wit' means that articulate and intelligent communication (speech and writing) should use few and wisely chosen words
also Ecl. 12:12 .. My son, beware of anything beyond these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness of the flesh. Who has published more books than the WT ? You can only "leave Jehovah' by leaving the Kingdom Hall .. if God lives at the hall ! Acts 7:48-51 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet, 49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord

If Jw's are "right " about God, over 99.9 % of the present world will not qualify for life.. does this seem logical
or does it appear to represent a kind , compassionate God ?
You can tell the size of your God by looking at the size of your worry list. The longer your list, the smaller your God
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love... 1 jn 4:8

let's start at the old desert island, shall we?.
a group of survivors (just like the tv show!
) are marooned on an island with no way off.they are all sorts of people with various strengths and weaknesses.. the strongest among them do the hardest work.
I appreciate your points Terry... most truly if more of us were more pro-active we could indeed make
our world and our own life a better place .
Liked these points..
what we DO and not what we HOPE.. the difference between having a dream and having a career is PLANNING.
will you heed jehovahs.
clear warnings?.
(the watchtower - july 15, 2011).
Don Cameron ....Thanks so much for your book... what makes it so appealing is it's focus the one key question ..
Was the Wt appointed in 1919 as God's sole channel ? As long as we believed the Society is God's organization we would
continue to blindly obey their direction to the point self-imposed censorship !!!

A family society differs from an artificial gathering of strangers. Familial ties over time create bonds which over-ride mere convenience.CHOOSES whom to love, tolerate, assist, enable according to our own decisions
One is less apt to "resent" our Mom laying about after a lifetime of nursing us, educating us, tending to us.
The point is that each of us
A parasite doesn't self-sustain. A parasite lives off the self-sustaining efforts of OTHERS
But, if your support is mandated by a central authority with the power to punish you if you don't----this becomes a kind of indentured servitude.
Freedom vanishes and compulsory service destroys the ideal
Terry I think you have made many valid observations, and identified situations that are unfair for the able, willing and strong.
But how to change it.... what of those who were producers but have through accident or disease become parasites ? At some point some
moral judgments must be made by society. Is not the island survivor situation just too simple.. in a complex world ?
What of the children, the handicapped and the old ? Please I don't mean to draw negative comparison to you.. but Hitler
had much to say about the parasites in society .. it lead to his final solution idea.
Does not living in a centralized society automatically strip someone of total fairness ?
these words "to thine own self be true " are often quoted but not the entire thought or stanza.
this above all: to thine own self be true,.
and it must follow, as the night the day,.
For if we live our life like some Shakespearean play...
to dance the dance in some preassigned verse
and if we act with masks to be read with only wooden smiles..
tis only by then that we mute the hidden body language ...
that forever speaks pure truth without our spirits consent

It needs to be understood that "being yourself" does not have anything to do with forcing yourself to just do whatever you desire or pretending that you don't care how others perceive you. It is actually the process of listening to your inner feelings and maintaining personal integrity ... not letting others override our heartfelt desires and beliefs

Thou canst not then be false to any man.
Is being true to yourself apart from concerns for others selfish ?
What balance must we reach ?
Is this stanza only referring to not being false to others in regarding to who we are as a person inside ?
Is the term "to find oneself " the same thing ? Most truly many ex-JW's feel obligations toward others or even God have
overwhelmed and submerged their finding their true self in the past ... thoughts please
