A friend of mine's father used to be able to sleep with his eyes open, so peacefully. We proved it at a DC by waving our hands in front of his face, nothing... no movement at all. We all envied him!

i used to balance my checkbook sometimes.
another favorite was unsticking the pages of a new bible or folding back the dogears of an old one.

Thanks for the welcome all, I appreciate it!
i enjoy armagnac, lately.
cognac is quite nice around the fall and winter, too.
A bit off topic, but reading Johnny Walker reminded me of something I was trying to get some information on.
I remember reading a while ago, when I was younger and didn't really care much about the extreme controversy, that the Witnesses published an Awake magazine that actually used the artwork from a Johnny Walker ad on the front cover.
I remember seeing the ad too, somewhere... don't recall where, but most likely the Internet. In a nutshell, the Witnesses ended up getting sued because they claimed it was their own when it was very clearly stolen from Johnny Walker.
Apparently what ended up happening was the actually magazine used the stolen Johnny Walker graphics, but the bound volume had a completely different Awake cover. I'd like to somehow bring this up by saying, "I was doing some research. Oringally I was looking at the magazine, but later on pulled it up in the bound volume and found it had a totally different cover. Why is this?" To see what answer I get.
The problem is, I can't get the original magazine, which used the Johnny Walker ad. My understanding is it was from the late 70's or sometime in the 80's. Has anyone come across this?
Thanks,
Rubens
the greeter was a woman i once called friend and who (unfortunately now) was baptized after studying with me for a year.
when i walked in i was the only one coming through the door so it's not like she didn't see me, she turned away and ignored me...not wanting to lower myself to her level i simply got a shopping cart and went about my shopping, my first instinct was to report her to management for dereliction of duty but i thought better of that because my doing so would show her it upset me.
i really owe her a debt of gratitude because it was at her baptismal talk that my first strong doubt that it was the truth finally penetrated my foggy brain, as i sat and repeated the baptismal questions to myself at the assembly when she was being baptized i realized they were not the same ones i answered in 1974, that started me on my journey out of the org.
To go one step further, JW's won't take blood. But they will take a certain fluid or item that is derived only from blood, but not considered blood (I apologize for the general post here, because I don't recall the exact name).
Very interesting. So they are willing to take something that comes from human blood, which could potentially save their life, but they will not contribute to the blood supply to save someone elses life. Hypocritical or what? Does anyone recall what the name of it is?

how many did enjoy the symbols at the memorial 2007, anyone who know that, rather important to me.. regards manjana.
I apologize for being a newbie here and I've already started 2 topics (well, just my stupid questions). But I know I saw somewhere that there was a Crisis of Conscience post. I can't seem to find it with the search being down. Can someone tell me where this post is? Thanks!

I can't even tell you the number of times this has happened to me. The number of times there is borderline eye-contact where Witnesses have seen me, only to turn their head or away. Then you bump into them a little later on and you get the, "Oh hi there, I never saw you" comment. I thought Witnesses weren't supposed to lie! LOL! Rubens
i'm really intrigued by that fact that i may know some of you and yet not know that i know you.
i just want to know how many people from canada are here.
if you don't mind and don't care about posting your province (cause i'm too timid to) we could all get an idea of just how many canucks are really out there.
I am from Mississauga, Ontario here. Rubens
