Who wrote those book then? I have not researched it but would love any source material.
i note the recent post that quoted 1 timothy 2:11-12 and colossians 1:23 which place women at a level that is lower to men.
the poster accused paul of this mysoginy, but that is not correct.. 1 timothy, 2 timothy, titus, colossians, ephesians and hebrews were written after paul's death.. paul was not a mysoginist; he made full use of women in leadership roles.
he wrote that in god's sight there is neither male nor female, for all are one in god's sight.. doug.

when i was a zealous publisher, once i took co for a return visit to learn how he handles difficult questions.
house holder brought the subject of joshua secretly sending two spies to spy out the city of jericho before its planned conquest, and asked: “wasn’t joshua acting in a human way here?
why would joshua need to send spies if he was the commander-in-chief appointed by god the almighty?”.
In the SKE school and its predecessor, they basically parrot descriptions and memorize stuff like parrots. I know this as I have had quite a bit to do with it in the last 2 years.
I had the same response when asking biblical questions of various students.
following the news of stuckinarut2, over the past few months my wife has completely mentally woken up.
i've been meaning to post but haven't had the time.
i saw stuckins post and i figured i'd add my news too.
ohh wow that is brilliant news! Congratulations!
my active and in jw wife is up for reading bible together.
thing is she wants to use nwt.. i have problems with that translation as you my imagine.. just wondering if you thought the true message of the bible will shine through the deliberate tampering of the nwt?.
i know many people here don't like or want to read the bible and think it's rubbish anyway, so if that's you, you can save your comments :-).
I would say it is ok except anything relating to the divinity of Jesus, they have modified so much.
I would also say make sure you make them read every scripture in context not just the cherry picking.
I love biblehub.com for any translational issues. I use the NIV at the moment.
lately i have been really interested in the idea of who jesus was in the in old testament.
i have reading an author named michael heiser who generally believes anytime there was a physical manifestion of god in the old testament it was a pre incarnation of jesus christ.. i was reading the first chapter of jeremiah there is a figure called " the word of jehovah appears ".
this actually happens in a number of places in the old testament.
Some preachers think that Melchizedek was Jesus in physical form in the OT. I kind of like the idea but there is not enough hard data if you know what I mean.
hi i am posting for the first time although i've been looking for a few years , i was born into a witness family left when i was 12 with my parents went back at 22 pioneered became ms started to have major doubts around 2002 when there was a lot of talk about blood fractions etc have been hit and miss since i'm extremely mentally confused as to wether or not this really is jehovah's earthly organisation , i find life hard facing up to mortality etc not having the new system hope , what nailed your decision to leave ?
how did you cope with world problems on news etc ?
how did you fill the void ?
Hi Midnight
We had a similar dilemma being born in's and waking up in our forties. The old "where are we to go", "what is out there".
We still believe in God but we have found:
I would suggest take your time, study what the athiests say as much as the scripture itself.
Try connect with God and see what happens also. I can't deny my connection to him as my Father.
I have too many things that have happened over the past few years - but that is my journey I am
sure you will have your own as many here do.
If you want any help on the scriptural side I would be more than happy to help and share just PM me.
And by the way - congratulations - this journey is by no means easy but when you find true freedom
there is nothing like it.
my dad{rip}, was a faithful jw since the year i was born, i'm 60, he died 2 years ago.
his last 12 years were spent in an assisted living/nursing home right in the small town where he spent the last 8 years of being an elder/pioneer.
when he went into the home, one brother would visit him regularly, but after 4 years, that friend moved away, and visitation from the locals ceased, for 8 years!!!!!!!
Where will you go? What about the love?
They really believe their own rubbish. This is the true evidence of their fake love!
so my parents continue to pester me about getting baptized.
the other day my dad told me that i was old enough to make a decision, and was wondering why i wasn't ready (assembly is in a few weeks) so i told him calmly that i have many doubts and if i were to get baptized it has to be 100 percent my idea.
he was a little annoyed by this, and now wants to study the "is there a creator that cares about you" book (which is complete bs) with me.
Hi Blackwolf
Their teaching is so far removed from scripture if you stick to the bible you might convert him.
Here is what I would do:
Here are some don'ts:
I am sure more learned people here could supply you with questions, but PM me if you want mine.
it really is great.
i remember browsing this forum the day after i had joined it, and their was a knock on the door.
i thought it was one of my package from ups but instead it was two sisters.
Hi A Believer I hope you have a Greek / Hebrew Interlinear handy. If not check out www.biblehub.com
The reason I left was purely scriptural - so I am hoping you are a keen student of the scriptures.
I have about 50+ other bible questions, I will return if you can answer them scripturally. Here are some thing I hope you can answer for me.
1 - Col 1:17 according to the greek is a total mistranslation. It misrepresents Jesus totally and looks like the NWT has been changed to fit in with doctrine. Can you help me understand why it has been translated that way?
2 - If you look at every use of Jehovah in the Greek scriptures, can you explain why the society has added Jehovah to 70+ scriptures when they were not a direct quotation from the Hebrew? This is exactly what they accuse the other religions of doing by taking his name out.
3 - Search for "obeisance" in your bible app. Can you explain why the exact same greek word is translated obeisance when it comes to Jesus - but worship when it comes to God?
I did a thorough study of my scriptures as a witness - I sourced my information straight from the bible not any "apostate" sites. I could do this all day long.
My feeling is if you are a sincere worshipper of God you will want to find out these answers. Happy to provide more questions. Happy for you to PM me also.
a circuit overseer friend of mine serving in latin america called me today to say hi.
