Here in Missouri, we got around problems with dogs by carrying those dog zappers that you use when you are training dogs. Emits a high pitched noise that only dogs could hear. I think that it was on the list of supplies for Field Service. They would roll the window down, push the button, the dog would run for its life and then take the door. always keeping the zapper in their pockets in case the dog came back for more. :).. the good old days.. I do not miss them at all!

Damaging property and driveways in Field Service. The good old days.
by Open mind injust got done reading b_deserter's partial life story and it sent me drifting down memory lane.
this is a long, rambly story, so if you're not in the mood, i'd recommend clicking on another thread.. did you happen to grow up in "god's country?
" you know, a rural or semi-rural part of the country that is far superior morally to the "sin den" i moved to, california?

awwww.. that is so sweet, and wonderful that your family does not feel the need to let her in on the very grown up things that young JW children were taught.. Its sad when the JW kids are the ones tell the other kids on the playground grownup things.. but it seems that that happens more often than not because of the distorted since of the world that JWs have.

FS wasn't too bad, we lived way out in the country.. so we would drive around for an hour, stop at 3 houses, go get coffee, go back and do 5 more houses. and there was always the advantage of getting in a cargroup with a guy I liked and stareing at him all day.. and thinking bad thoughts about his mother. it was a great way to spend the day... When my brother was little he would play with his hands, one hand would be the good guy the other would be the bad guy and they would fight, complete with sound effects, whoosh, bang, boom.. it drove the people sitting around us crazy :) he was only like 4 but everyone wondered why mom couldn't control him. One time he commented in the middle of the Public talk, the speaker said something about, does your family study regularly. And he stopped looked up and said no.. and then when back to playing with his hands. :)

When I was younger I would sneak off to the bathroom and sleep in peace, without my mom jabbing me to keep me awake.. and I district Conventions.. I would go the the bathroom that was the furthest from where we were sitting. At regular meetings me and my sister were allowed to get up 1 time, and not at all at book studies. we had this really old elder's wife that would complain about us playing in the bathroom. :( poor little children, also we were not allowed to go to the bathroom at the same time, or at the same time as other girls in the cong.. man now that I think about it there were a lot of bathroom rules.

www.myjwspace.com
by Sam87 inits been ages since ive been back on here, ive just been so busy with life, lol.
have any of you heard of this site?
apparently its like a myspace for jws only.

it says that you get $1 for every 5 people you refer.. that is the only way they are going to get anyone to join. The good witnesses are all out in service and the bad ones have myspace. So maybe if they pay people someone might join.

Can a JW be a Notary Public?
by Wordly Andre ini am not sure how it is in other states but in california you have to raise your right hand and take the oath of office, in that oath you swear or affirm to the best of your ability, preserve, protect and defend the constitution of the united states and the laws of the united states so help me god.
is there a conflict for jw's on this?
jw do not serve in public offices, a notary by law is a public office, due to the fact that you swear to protect and defend the constitution you are saying that you are allies with the united states.

I asked my mom.. she said that one of the elders in her hall is, because they have to have their Power of Attorney notarized and almost all witnesses have them now. (I hate that my mom doesn't have me listed as hers.. what kind of person does she think I am??) anyways.. she also cannot believe that he would register to vote, and didn't believe me when I said that he had to be, I took Political Science last semester and we talked about it in class.. She said that my (lawyer) teacher just must be wrong.

When I was in it I rarely felt as if I had missed out. I had myself convinced that I really did get as many gifts as everyone else, looking back I really don't think that it was true but I believed it at the time. I really wanted to be in Track and Field events and that was the only thing that I really wanted to do but I didn't bother asking cause I knew the answer. But I quit when I was 17 and I am going to college now, I am so glad. My mom went to college before she became a witless, so I always planed to go to college no matter what anyone said.
