  I need your help responding to my old JW friends email

  hello guys, todya i recieved an email from an old friend of mine within the jdubs... he did the usual jdub thing get married really young and as such we lost touch.. he since found me on facebook and has been bugging me about my decision to leave, i talked to him a little but his mind is completely closed and irrational so i was having little success saving him from the cult and as sich i decided to end the call.. by saying "your happy and i'm happy so lets leave it be and aggree to differ" - however he wont let it rest this is his email: any help in responding would be most appreciated!!

  ps... how ironic that he should mention george orwell when he lives within a cult that epitomizes the 1984 book!!

  seeing as you never botherered ringing me back or texting i thort id email you.. .

  Its fine lovely Steve2... I probably would have been flattered if he had not slated me for my clothing!! which i dont think is any less than in jws cos i was always quite bad at dressing modestly back then!! xxxx

  my mum has tried to organise a visit but i have avoided going to see my family.

  i have seen my sister but the last time i saw her there was quite alot of upset (if you see my last family related post!

  I read what you wrote and decided to phone my mum.. she was very nice on the phone... my mum said she will let me know when they go over to my grandparents house and I will go over there too.. my grandparents house is neutral territory as they are not jw's and my parents are unlikely to raise jw propaganda!!..

  Thank you for your comments, In answer to Quandrys question I have recently completed a degree in psychology and am now very happily training to be a college teacher of psychology..
  
  this change of carreer for me has boosted my esteem and teaching is very rewarding even if it is one of the hardest things i have done (besides doing a very dramatic departure from jws and losing a whole world of friends!!.. despite the hardship the rewards are many in leaving as I am sure you all know!!)

  Hahaha actually I didnt find it flattering... he is being offensive saying that I no longer wear clothes when I go out!! thats typical jdub rubbish used to beat girls down and keep them in place.. I had a judicial once where I was told that I was in the situation i was in (having been touched up by a brother) because of the way I dressed!! that judicial really upset me at the time..

  Please excuse the ambiguity of this email, I am confused and unsure of my feelings about my family and have not seen them in a while now.   All of my immediate family are Jehovahs witnesses, the rest of my family are not jw's they are delighted about my decision to leave but after years of having hardly anything to do with them because of the jws stand on worldly family I do not feel close to them atall.
  
  I became completely detatched from my family even my beloved sister, I feel as though my friends are my family, i spend most of my time with them. I used to visit my family as they have continued to want to see me and I would visit once every few months or so. Besides from my parents being jehovahs witnesses which makes things difficult, I dont think I actually like my parents. I cannot ascertain wether my feelings are just anger at being raised in a cult and missing out on so much or I just find that the religion that I despise is so central to their existance Id rather not be around them hearing them talk about it.
  
  Leaving the JW's has been very hard I am having counselling as I have quite low self esteem and sufferred with depression for many years. Since leaving I have been able to come off the antidepressants and am happier on the whole, but I remain in pain at the loss of many friends and guilt at causing my family especially my sister embarrissment.
  
  My counseller has helped me to see that I do not have to see my family (or anyone for that matter) that I do not want to. I gave followed through with his advise and only doing things that I want to, but I feel bad about this.. surely its my duty to see my family especially when they are making the effort. The other side of this arguement is that many of you are in pain missing your family and would kill to have your parents ask to see you and here I am moaning saying that I dont want to see them!! I just feel horrible when I see them.

  So many brilliant replies... I have had a real good hearty belly laugh reading your humorous replies!!
  I have also really enjoyed the well reasoned thought provoking replies.
  
  FYI: he has always been a bit of a jerk sexually.. wanting to see my boobs has been an obsession of his from the day we met, which epitomizes the sort of twat I was friends with in the cult but would never be mates with now (I have standards these days!)! so maybe I should leave him where he is!!
  
  Thanks for your input, I have not recieved a reply from the email I sent him regarding Preaching in the asian world... he has probably run off to ask his dad!!

  Thank you guys... I know his email about seeing my boobs was quite funny coming from someone who is attempting to preach to me!!
  
  I have given him a lengthy reply with Liberties maths pointers... as it doesnt come accross outrightly apostate... allthough if he persists I will hit him with the facts on child abuse!!
  
  I have taken comfort in your observations that he must be having doubts or he wouldnt need to convince me that the jw's are right!!
