So what talks do they plan to cut out of the TMS if it will only be 30 minutes, or are they just going to reduce the timing of some parts like the instruction talk and the highlights?

Are you able to elaborate at all as to if that meeting time will be extended to accomodate the bookstudy? Or will the bookstudy be done in a manner similar to the old 15 minute instruction talks?
Remember before the school was redone in 2003 some instruction talk parts would include questions at the end. It seems to be a feasible way they could combine the bookstudy with the school, however if that was the pace it would take forever to consider an entire book. Perhaps they would not read paragraphs but just summarize the info and ask for comments on selected paragraphs.
Any other insight you can provide without revealing your source would be appreciated.

The Big Announcement!!!
by oneairhead ini heard the big announcement was about restructuring the meetings.
when i told my source he wanted to know how i found out about it and proceeded to tell him it was all online.
i told him about other things that only elders would know about that are online.. one.

If they were to stop the book studies in the home and move them all to the hall I think the attendance may remain about the same or drop off, unless they added some other meeting to try and attract the people. The problem with moving book studies to the hall, is many KH's are already congested enough, and this would seem to add further burden to the schedule. Also home book studies are located at different areas throughout the territory, on different days and at times that are supposed to be convenient for those in the group. By making everyone attend a book study all at once especially if it was midweek, the attendance likely would not be too great from those who work 2nd shift.
Also the TMS & SM are probably the second set of least attended meetings to the bookstudy so I don't see how it would help attendance.
Now maybe they are planning on having one congregation bookstudy and adding a meeting for youth after that, but I don't see how that would attract the middle age and older ones.

I considered that possibility but in recent years most changes have been on how to simplify operations. For example cutting district conventions from 4 days to 3 days, no food at conventions, moving operations to wallkill with newer presses to reduce amount of workers, awake to once a month, making the study edition so they end up printing less WT's, also cutting the public talk down to 1/2 hour.
They may add a meeting, perhaps after the bookstudy, something towards the youth, but as it is many JW's complain there are too many meetings, and have trouble attending the ones they have right now. What does everyone else think of them adding one?

If they were going to eliminate bookstudy it must not be immediate as a recent KM stated that we will next consider "Live With Jehovah's Day In Mind". Unless they plan to do that through 2008 after the Revelation book and then eliminate bookstudy after we're done with that.
However the bookstudy is a good way to micro-manage and have one overseer keep closer tabs on the people in his group. Also they like to promote the small groups in case persecution would arise, and to keep tabs on the members in case of a disaster or something else.

Also heard speculation that it is a change in the hour requirement for pioneering to try and get more people to pioneer.
Heard one brother saying 55 hours a month for regular pioneer and 40 for auxilary. I wonder which of these announcements it will be.

The fact that there will be an announcement is confirmed.
The schedules I posted are just my guesses of what they may be planning if they are indeed restructuring and changing meetings around.

Or here is another analogy.
If they moved the WT Study to a midweek meeting... then a combined TMS & SM that night could include:
5 minutes - Opening Song/Prayer
1st meeting
10 minute - Instruction or Service Talk
10 minute - Bible Highlights
20 minute - 1 or 2 service meeting parts from KM
5 minute - Announcements
Total 45 Minutes
5 minute - Song
2nd meeting
45 minute - Watchtower study (which would really limit excess points brought in by the conductor. They would really need to stick to the material to get done on time.)
5 minute - Song/Prayer
Total time 1 hour 45 minutes with song prayer
If they wanted to keep the student talks going they could change the bookstudy to 45 minutes, then do the 3 student talks and still be done in about a little over an hour. They might feel people would be more willing to participate in the school if it was a real small setting.

Well we know the bookstudy isn't being eliminated. In one of the recent KM's it said the next book we'll being doing at the bookstudy is "Live With Jehovah's Day In Mind". And I've heard on this board there was an announcement in the May KM that all bookstudy overseers should have the contact info for those in their group.
I could see consolidating the TMS and Service Meeting somehow into one and have that at a midweek meeting along with the watchtower study since that is to be more oriented towards members.
I could see on Sunday there just being a public meeting, and then them encouraging everyone to go out in service.
Any other ideas of what they may be planning?

Confirmed - There will be an annoucement April 27
by cinnamon1642 inat the meeting today the watchtower conductor did say that "all will want to be in attendance next week for a special announcement from the governing body on april 27. but don't ask us what it is because we don't know either, we just know there will be an announcement.".
i would guess it is about the tract campaign in october..

Also there have been two other mentions on this board:
1. It could be a letter about not booking convention hotels off the list. I think one member said the letter had already been read though.
2. Another member mentioned it will be about the restructuring of the meetings.
