OUTLAW`s New Vacuum Cleaner

i needed a new vacuum cleaner..so i did a bit of research and decided the "dyson" was the one for me..it is specially designed never to lose suction.it performs at 100% until you need to empty it..it uses no bags and never needs new filters...............it has a nice long hose on it for doing stairs..i used it to grab the dog`s ass..he liked it!..he thinks he has a new girl friend now and won`t leave the vacuum alone..so i put it in the closet..lol!

!...............it looks more like a hummer truck than a vacuum cleaner..and..it`s purple!..imagine that,a vacuum cleaner that sucks till it`s purple!..lol!

Schweet! When I first lived on my own in my first appartment, I had a hand me down vacuum cleaner from my parents. The belt kept braking, bag kept filling up, etc. When I married, my wife brought her vaccuum cleaner, which wasn't any better. So I bought my own, but I went on the cheap side. The suction was great for a while and it was bagless, but it broke. Then the other 2 broke as well... so I took them all apart and created Franken-Vac! It worked for a while and it had alot of... umm... character .

The next vacuum I get will definitely be a Dyson. Purple is my favorite color too, excellent choice!

Was There Any Watchtower Interpretation That You Never Quite Understood?

i knew what the watchtower taught regarding the "faithful & discreet slave class" but how they could ever suggest that "domestics" were "individual members" of the anointed that were given food to the other anointed ones, yet they specifically were not members of the governing body, but the governing body represented the group that would take the lead in feeding others, was beyond me!

the whole interpretation of the fds doctrine is ridiculous!.

were there certain things that puzzled you as to how the watchtower could come up with a particular view?

John 10:14-16 - I am the Good Shepherd, and I know those that are Mine, and I am known by those who are Mine. Even as the Father knows Me, I also know the Father. And I lay down My life for the sheep. And I have other sheep who are not of this fold. I must also lead those and they shall hear My voice, and there shall be one flock, one Shepherd.

Reading this passage on my own, I think its pretty obvious that he's talking about the Gentiles, as most of the rest of the bible after the Gospels deals with Gentiles and the beginning Christian Congregations. How this could be taken to mean that he is speaking about those who will have everlasting life on earth, as opposed to those going to heaven, is beyond me.

i need ideas!!

in the past i've gotten her a matching jewelry set, a super-comfy reclining office chair for her computer area, a massage pad, and other things i can't remember.

Excellent ideas! Thanks a ton, and keep 'em coming if you got 'em. The blender-vacuum cleaner-sewing machine suggestions have me ROFL-ing, since I'm a stay at home husband and she brings home the bacon. And I would LOVE a new blender (lots of settings, of course), a new vacuum cleaner (a Dyson, or anything that can suck the paint off the wall), and I do in fact own a sewing machine, but I don't know how to work it yet.

Outings seem to be the thing, yes? Day spa and drinks maybe? Scully, both my wife and myself love to get box DVD sets of things we like, so I don't think that would be special enough. And I love Pinky and the Brain! We rented the set from Netflix back in the day. We've got West Wing 1st-5th Season, Sports Night, Family Guy, Fraggle Rock, and Samurai Jack along with some other stuff I can't remember that's probably lent out.

Parali, that golden rose would be a great idea... if I hadn't gotten one for a previous girlfriend and told my wife all about it .

A&W, I'm looking for something that is unique and impactful like that, but I can't think of a thing along those lines.

Skeeter, my wife isn't a handbag person. She has a small black purse that barely holds her keys, driver's liscense and bank card, and that's all she uses for anything. She hates shopping too and doesn't wear make-up.

In the past I've gotten her a matching jewelry set, a super-comfy reclining office chair for her computer area, a massage pad, and other things I can't remember. She had complained before that I never got her "girly" things, hence the matching jewelry set, but she never wears them, so jewelry is out for this year. She loves to read Sci-fi books, but the problem with that is that she owns most all of what she likes. She likes computer games like Age of Empires and Civilization as well, so if anyone knows of a sleeper hit in that genre, I'd love to know about it.

I like so many pieces! Firebird suite by Stravinsky. The Bach Solo Cello Suites, especially numbers 3 and 6. Beethoven Symphonies 6, 8, and 9, also his Waldstein and Moonlight Sonatas for piano and the late String Quartets. Black Angels for String Quartet by George Crumb (that's for my weird side :P). Bibel's Ave Maria for Men's Chorus. Barber's Adagio for Strings and the arrangement for choir known as his Agnus Dei. Corigliano's Voyage for Choir, as well as the transcription for flute and strings, as well as his setting of Fern Hill for Choir. Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms. I could go on and on and on, lol. Oh, can't forget Ralph Vaughn William's Dona Nobis Pacem. Excellent piece.

How to get the programming out of my mind.

i have been reading this board for a year now, so i'm not new, but new to posting :)

please let me apologize in advance as i am having trouble separating what is true - from what i hear at the meetings, vs here, and private research, so i may ramble or say things that may sound watchtowery.

i still go to the meetings due to family pressure which may eventually end, not sure when, probably when i decide its enough.

Hey there Apostate Jr.! I hope you find what you're searching for... the journey can be very revealing.

About the house to house work, I've always kept one thing in mind - regardless of how it was done, the Apostles were informing their community about something and someone new. People hadn't heard about Jesus and his message, or they had only partially heard, so they were just getting the information out there. Today, the situation is different. I'm not sure where you are posting from, but in the US somewhere close to 90% of people claim to be Christian already. Also, a good number of people who aren't Christian already know what the belief system entails. So instead of taking new information to the masses, the house to house work of JWs ends up being a message of "your version of Christ is wrong and ours is right". Just from what I hear from my Witness family members, those who accept a bible study with Witnesses tend to be those who have fallen on hard times in life and are looking for a sense of community more than anything else.

Regarding prophesy... well, the Watchtower Society seems to fit the role of those who were claiming to prophesy in Jesus's name although he never knew them rather than the role of the faithful and discreet slave. I can't think of one prophesy from the WT that has come true. They have claimed to be prophets, however, they also claim to be uninspired. An uninspired true prophet whose prophesies never come true? I don't think so.

What book/s do new converts study now?

I wouldn't be surprised if they change it (in the future) to the new Jesus book that came out at the recent assembly: "Come be my follower". I've been through it a little bit and it seems to be catering to those who are more apt to receive a message about Jesus on their way to converting. You know, make 'em think its "Christian" to begin the indoctrination, while at the same time introducing the JW-speak.

Page 12, paragraph 19:

Herein lies the purpose of this book. Its aim is, not to give a complete summary of the life and ministry of Jesus, but to help us see more clearly how to follow him.

did you ever think about the fact that when you were a dub, it was pointless to buy a box of all occasion greeting cards?

it annoyed the heck out of me, because you couldn't use the ones for birthdays or most of the sympathy cards (because they often said "lord" or "god" in them).

so what would a box of jw greeting cards contain?.

Free at Last, or am I

i have just spent the last 3 or 4 hours reading everyone's posts and i am so thrilled and relieved that sites like this exist which allow us ex jw's to express ourselves.

i feel compelled to share my story, even though it is probably quite unremarkable.

i have this feeling that finally being able to express my thoughts albeit on the web, will finally allow me some freedom!.

Welcome Princess! I'm pretty new here myself, and I really enjoyed reading your story. I can completely relate to the residual effect of having been a JW at one time. Shortly after I left, my friends would take me to their churches for company and the presence of the huge Crosses in most of them made me quite uncomfortable - even though I had no mental issue with them anymore. I would love to talk to my folks about alot of things (they're still very active JW's) but some things just aren't worth the 3 hours of circular arguing that they lead to.

Perhaps someone could reply like this (I don't go to the meetings anymore):

"Excuse me brother, but I have a question. The Society here cites Titus 3:9 'But shun foolish questionings and genealogies and strife and fights over the Law, for they are unprofitable and futile' (Kingdom Interlinear Translation 1969). Now, according the the Society's book, the Kingdom Interlinear Translation, the greek word translated "Law" is nomi-kos. The possible translationslations for nomi-kos are 'according to the law' or 'expertise in mosaic law'. As seen before in John 1:1, a noun like this without an article is non-anarthrous, simply meaning that had the text said "ho nomi-kos" then it could be rendered "law", non-capitalized, meaning law in a general sense. However, without the article, the NWT correctly capitalizes "Law" and thus gives it the weightier side of meaning, which would be a direct referrence to Mosaic Law, not the new Christian standards that Paul was preaching. Indeed, a recurring theme in Paul's preaching is directed at the converted Jews' preoccupation with the Mosaic Law. In that light, would it be appropriate to apply the Society's counsil only to the Old Testament?"

Heh, that might get you some odd looks. Seriously though, I'm pretty sure Titus 3:9 is about Mosaic law... that translation makes much more sense to me than any other.
