it is nice to see who we're talking to all the time. i mean we do share some very intimate feelings about our experiences in religion and life.

this story is wrong on so many levels.
1)these people couldn't wait to have a child so they took the 'less desirable'option of having a foreign older kid. that's fine. they just wanted him so desperately...great.....but then they find this wonderful religion and try to CANCEL an adoption. how do you do that??????
2) they rationalize that god's kingdom can still come first since the kid will MOST OF THE TIME AT SCHOOL ANYWAY since he's older. that makes it that oh alright we can take him after all since he won't really need us that much we can go on doing our business
note: the cancellation of the adoption of a little human life they so desperately wanted plus that type of selfish thinking they use as rationalization says a whole lot about the evil and power that is brainwashing.
3) the kid is so happy because he turns out to be a witness and so are they!! allelujah!
can you spell PROPAGANDA!!!!! that doesn't even deserve a deeper analysis. propaganda pure and simple. poor kid. if he does exist i hope he never gets disfellowshipped and shunned. to be abandonned once is horrible enough, to be abandonned a second time is absolutely unthinkable. -

by chuckyy inwhilst a jw, one thing that was evident to me was the constant gossip and backbiting.....being nice to someones face and then talking about them behind there backs.were you ever a "victim" of this sort of behaviour???
is it as common as i suspect from cong.
to cong???.

didn't get to read anyone's reply but i think i am the queen victim of gossiping at the hall.
i was living in italy, and got reproved. a sister told her daughter living in LONDON why i got reproved(actually said much worse) who told a sister in her hall who used to be in my hall.this siter then told her sister in BELGIUM who reported it to her brother still living in FLORENCE, italy. well later this brother went to bethel in ROME and him and another brother from there found out my records and reported it to people in my cong. (that other brother got removed from his duties actually because he's theone who had access to these records)
So it was official. they all went around for years saying i was reproved for sleeping with a brother in my hall when that wasn't even true.and that brother obviously knew it but maybe he thought the gossip was more spicy than the truth.
the witness community is very small. i realized it because i've lived attended halls in 4 different countries and you wouldn't believe who knows who.
once you're marked that's it. you're tainted for life.
that brother that i was saying earlier followed my tracks and made sure he told any brother who might show interest that i was no good.
and the elders spread gossip also. think about it. they're the ones people go to to know if such and such is marriage material and they have to justify why they may say no. so there you go. -

called an old friend

he sounded about the same as he did the last time i saw him 20 years ago.

joel, i want you to know that we understant(those of us who are df'ed) and relate totally to what you say. i know i've felt the same way and still do, as you do.
i called an old friend of mine this week to ask him this very question :' are your lives just going on without me?'
and the answer was basically YES it has to. and so does yours. and as i can see it has. these moments will happen because not only you have lost people you love but you also know unlike JWs that the casualty in relationships that this had caused is not all done for the sake of satisfying the will of a grand creator. it is just a controlling policy set forth by an abusive religion.
you can have a satisfying life without them. and you can only feel sad for them that not only are sacrificing their sometimes life-long friendships but their youth, talents, and personalities for this sect.
it's hard not to become bitter but i'm sure you have no reason to. you have a wonderful marriage and career ....and a whole lot of people who can be a support to you here!
