  Inappropriate "shepherding" calls.

  how many have recieved calls by the elders that were under the guise of "shepherding", but somehow inappropriate, i.e, you were a woman alone with only one elder showing up, or you felt physically intimidated by both.

  or say they show up at like, 10:30 at night for a shepherding call.

  and you say "hey, i appreciate the visit but please call first!

  So many of you have had such incredible and heartbreaking experiences--and the dubs wonder why we're so bitter!

  My last shepherding call was March 2000. My mother and I were called on (I happened to be visiting) and we both had alot of questions about the new "blood cards." The elder said he wasn't really ready for those questions but made a SPECIFIC appointment for a visit the following week to discuss it. We all wrote this time down in our respective appointment books. Little did I know that the next week we had the CO visiting our cong. When the appointed time came, who was at the door but a man with the coldest eyes I've ever seen and a different elder from the one I expected. The CO took control and had brought Watchtowers for us, and we turned to an article about those who have forsaken the truth but that Jehovah wants back. He had me read the paragraphs and i had tears in my eyes by the time I was done. It all sounded so good on paper, but it never seems to play out that way in reality. Aside from feeling the intended quilt, I also felt that i had been ambushed.

  Today, with all I know about Watchtowers lies, nothing they do would surprise me.

  the latest wt of september 1 2005 has another example of what i now call "the rug pull" where words are used cleverly to blame the flock for their own flagging spirit.

  the mag is "why it pays to be loyal" (not good or kind but that's another thread.

  they were just on oprah and i noticed (i think it was venus) she was wearing a dress that was red, white & blue.

  i am, right now, watching vh-1's history of the jacksons and in particular, the charges filed against him.. they just showed how mrs. jackson became a devout jw, showed the kh, and a few wt mags.

  then, without expecting it, there was bill bowen!

  talking about the epidemic of abuse in this church.

  recently there was a local needs part at the meeting and bro.dub elder did say that a phone call is a date.

  There is probably nothing written but verbally this is what is being tossed around.

  wanna I just spoke to a sister who went to last night's service meeting. There was a part which said that a phone call is a date. FreeFallin

  Jehovah's Witness commercial?

  this is my first post although i have been reading on this board for over a year now.

  i just had to post because i saw the most unbelievable thing the other night - a commercial for jehovah's witnesses.

  a couple nights ago i couldn't sleep and i turned on the tv.

  Yes, i saw the same commercial the other night and could not believe it. It wasn't too badly done, either. But i think the message they want to send is Internet=Bad Association, stay off of apostate websites. I don't think children's welfare is one of their major concerns.

  My sad news

  as some of you on the board knew i was expecting a baby, i feel i should let you know that things have not worked out for us.. when i went for the 20 week ultrasound scan last thursday, severe problems were found with our baby's internal development.

  only one kidney was detected, and it was very enlarged and polycystic.

  there was no long term hope for the baby at all; if it survived to full term it could only live for hours at most.

  englishman had his op today and all is going according to plan.

  he's feeling woozy and sore tonight, but hopefully that will pass in a day or so.

  chris says he will probably have to stay in for about a week, but no doubt he will be posting if he can get hold of a laptop.

  I finally said enough is enough (shunning)

  i did what i was asked.

  all these weeks, i did all my mother asked when it came to dealing with the matters at hand for her.

  i'm nothing, if not loyal.. so over the weekend, when mother called for us to please come and deal with my relatives coming to the house to pick up boxes of my grandmother's belongings.

  To any JW's who are lurking here please think about this: Even murderers are allowed to have familial visits in prison. Most murderers are not even put away for life without chance of parole. It would be considered cruel and unusual punishment.

  my husband and i amuse each other with recollections of the "spiritual" language, sometimes with tears of laughter.

  we sometimes gasp at the thought we took all that stuff so seriously for nearly 40 and 33 years.

  every meeting, we had to be there, listening to the demands for obedience, loyalty,and submission.

  NOSTALGIA TIME !! Anyone remember the old "t.v. westerns" era?

  i was reading the post on "old radio" shows, and it brought to mind the old westerns that flooded the t.v.

  stations back in the 50's.. i remember the first day we had a t.v.

  installed, my sister and i were outside, and saw the "new" antenna on top of our roof, and ran in to watch the "new" black and white t.v., and enjoyed shows like milton berle, howdy doody, and others my memory forgot.
