the same thing is true of the conservative talk radio host, Rush Limbaugh. Many listen to his show because they mostly agree with him; others hate him and listen just to see what he is saying. It must be working because he has the most listened to talk show in the nation.

we must be getting warmer...the friday dateline just previewed on tonight's show is about the financial misdeeds of a church...should be a wedge in the door for the wts show.
I think you are right.
A story on the physical abuses of a church group (they took the kids away from them), another story on the sexual abuse by a trusted minister, and now the financial abuses of a certain church. Yes it certainly looks like they are priming the pump big time for what will likely be a bombshell. I urge everyone to obtain from silent lamb’s site some of the brochures, and perhaps append them with the airdate when we know it, and do a house-to-house, or parking lot campaign to distribute them. Remember to videotape this show, and bring up the subject at every opportunity that presents itself.
Weather your motives are to destroy the WTBTS, (not likely) or simply to bring to the public’s attention a serious problem within the organization; the more pressure that is brought to bear, the more likely the organization will be forced to start protecting children and not pedophiles, and that’s really what is important. Just my two cents.

It never fails to amaze me how truly controlled the thinking of a Dub can be. A while back my Dub wife and I were discussing the changes in the generation teaching and how it was reflected in the 1995 Awake masthead. I was floored that my wife could not see the significance of this change; it was no big deal to her.
Also she had totally no recollection of how years ago we both knew we were so close to the end because the 1914-generation was almost dead. She said she never believed any such thing. I remember our discussions from years ago and how we decided it was best for me NOT to put money in a 401k, as we would never grow old and retire; now I am playing catch-up. It is as if her memory were erased. I am in awe of the effectiveness of the brainwashing, just UNDELIEVABLE!

a woman in japan is claiming to be able to tell a man's fortune by having sex with him.. the woman known only as kaho is based in a brothel in nagoya.
she claims to be able to tell a man his future by performing sexual services.. japan already has a soothsayer who divines the future by breast-reading and another who give predictions based on mobile phones.. kaho claims to have read the fortunes of about 1,000 men in the past year by performing oral sex, reports shukan taishu news magazine.. she says she has foreseen life events for many men - helping one to win a vast amount of money at a racecourse, and advised a doubting groom to marry his bride.. kaho says he is still a regular visitor, though.. isp
I know for a fact that there really is something to this fortune telling, premonitions, and sex stuff.
True story: When I was in my late teens, I went out with a girl on a first date and when I went to kiss her goodnight she almost sucked my face off. She then said I “don’t believe in having sex on the first date”. I told her I agreed with that totally, people shouldn’t do that on the first date. Then like a bolt of lightning, it came to me and I predicted that very soon I would be having sex with this girl.
Sure enough, my premonition was absolutely on the money; and we had a very, very nice time on our second date two days latter.

tell a jw, particularly an elder, that you don't know if you believe in god anymore.
a typical reaction would be for them to try an encourage you.

my jw wife is teaching my nearly-3yr old to pray before meals.
i'm cool with that... doesn't bother me at all.

At times I feel a bit funny in this area too. I’m not fully to the agnostic side, less then you I suspect, but my experience with the Watch Tower has given me reason to reconsider everything I once believed in. My real problem is not with the prayer itself, but with the ritualism of it all. Why is it a rule that one has to pray before one eats?
I kind of feel a bit funny when my wife has a witness couple over for dinner and I’m expected to pray for all of us. What I often do is say something like; “Jim (or what ever his name may be) would you like to represent us in prayer”? Most of the time they feel honored that I, the so-called “head” bestowed this privilege on them. If it’s an Elder, even better, as they seem to think they already are the ones that should be leading everyone else in prayer. And if necessary, I do the prayer, but it often feels weird. I know I’ve offered you no solution to your situation, but I just posted this so you know you are not alone in feeling strange at those times.

he hasn't shown an interest in witness things for several months until a cousin from up north came to visit and took him out in service all day.
Don’t feel to bad, the Watch Tower's message is a very powerful message, a false message to be sure, but an exceedingly desirable message nonetheless. The camaraderie of field service with a peer is also a powerful inducement. I think the way you handled it is both very mature and fair. Reason with your teen; if baptism is such an important step, why should one rush into it without much reflection? You can always point to the example of Jesus, he was 30 before he was baptized. Also the scripture indicates “men and women” were to be baptized, not boys and girls.

This company does indeed have a JW connection. It is more then just a company ‘run by some brothers’; it seems to have an official Watch Tower sanction. The reason I know this is because last year when this all came out, I went to their web site and got their phone number and called them. The person on the other end told me something to the effect of ‘we don’t understand why so many more people don’t know about us, we were even mentioned in the blaa, blaa, blaa. Sorry, I forgot what Witness publication he said. I assume this person was telling the truth about that, and I did indeed receive from them a brochure along with a letter that ended with the salutation “your brothers”. Also I got the no blood key ring. That is all the proof I need.

Last night my youngest had a friend over. We were watching him because his mother was attending a funeral for one of the firemen mentioned it the article you posted. One of the firemen they found on New Years is the ‘fleshly’ brother of my wife’s friend in her congregation.
Thank goodness for the W.T.B.T.S. and their Herculean efforts to help people during this terrible calamity. As always, whenever disaster strikes, the witnesses are always the first on the scene to help out, provided of course you are one of them. No that’s not really fair to say that, I understand they went as far as handing out magazines during this disaster to non-witnesses; even reprinted back issues dealing with terrorism. How thoughtful, what a sacrifice on their part! Just think, if it were not for Jehovah’s spirit guiding them to wisely purchasing this multistory building in Brooklyn years ago, it would have been impossible to get such a clear shot of these firefighters on the way to their death.
My Dub wife and the dead firefighter’s Dub sister must certainly be proud of the W.T.B.T.S.; I sure am.

the "christian longo" drama has been on television and in the newspapers now for about a week, and will stay in the headlines until he is captured.. the xjw community ****now**** has a good opportunity to communicate with reporters to explain that jw shunning may very well have been the driving force behind longo's downhill slid which finally climaxed in an act of mass-murder.. per the news articles, longo's initial problems appear to have been "financial".
such problems could have been dealt with if longo's parent's would simply have offered and provided financial assistance.
You better believe that the extreme shunning as practiced by the witnesses has a psychological effect on people. As to it being the last straw that made him snap, that is anybody’s guess.
Think for a moment of the devastating effect this policy can have on the human psyche. First, to be a witness one must isolate themselves from the world at large. Any ties such as close so-called worldly friends are discarded. One’s inner circle of friends becomes only witnesses. Almost every aspect of one’s life is geared around life in the witness community. Extreme shunning causes one to be separated from this community, without any support mechanism in place and the effects for the individual are devastating to say the least.
It is primarily over this very issue, this unchristian practice of extreme shunning that I now forbid my 12-year-old son from attending meetings anymore. As I told my son’s PO, when your practice in this regard is more scriptural and Christ-like, I will reconsider sending him back to the Hall again. So did shunning play a role in this tragedy? Unknown, but it certainly could have.
