Will you go to the memorial
by freeborg ini have never missed a memorial in 20 years of being a jw, but this year will be the first one i miss because i refuse to set foot in any kingdom hall.
i was wondering how many that post here will attend the memorial and if so why?.
do you feel pressured into going by family or friends?.

When you think about, immortality is really just a further step, perhaps the next step, in our own evolution. As we have seen, natural selection has been a very powerful proponent of change, and now, its highly refined end product, namely the “human mind”, seems poised to advance evolution a quantum leap forward using gene manipulation technology. This will be an advance much further than simple natural selection could have done working at the biological level alone. Exciting times we live in, wouldn’t you say?

You treat this as good news but it is not!What if because of this they find a way to extend life indefinitely, then what? All the generations that died so as to prove the Devil a lying bastard would be for nothing. And what about the ransom sacrifice of Jesus, that would become worthless too, would it not? In fact what would we even need God at all for?

i hope you all find this interesting, because to me it only gets more intriguing and weird for the 3 12 years following january 1992... moment of decision: i can point back to the mountain top visit with god, or maybe today i might call it a visit with my higher power, whomever she/he/it might be.

To bad the Watch Tower doesn’t play on the same level playing field that they ask the rest of the world to play on. It would not be much of a stretch for most fair-minded people to conclude that some of the Watch Towers own actions are a form of persecution. One such action is in providing free and unlimited legal services to witness parents in a child custody case.
Consider this: When a huge publishing conglomerate such as the Watch Tower, with an army of lawyers pits itself against a parent in a child custody case, the non-witness parent can and will at some point be drained financially. However, the witness parent who receives free and unlimited legal resources may continue on with appeal after appeal unabated until the non-witness parent is just unable to continue. Not exactly fair is it? But then when has the Watch Tower known fairness except when seeking it for themselves?

well, the last time my mother and i talked (around october i think)she said, "well, we were in mobile all last weekend for uncle *****'s funeral".

I agree with #1, #2 and #3 are changes that should be made. I’m not sure what changes will be made in the future but I’m absolutely convinced Watch Tower policy will be changed. And in no small measure it will have changed because of you Bill. We know you are not alone in these efforts, there are others working for this change, but you are the front man Bill, and I’m sure you never expected to be, did you? Life is full of surprises.
Not to get off subject but, isn’t it true that some people are placed in circumstances where they can make a difference, but they never do? And then there are other people that have a willing spirit, but are never afforded the opportunity. And then every once in a while, there is someone like Bill. Bill was given the opportunity to make a difference and he had a willing sprit to do so. I know he will say that the silent lambs themselves deserve the praise and that is true, but they are not the only ones; his sacrifices have not gone unnoticed. I know you didn’t start this thread to get a pat on the back Bill, but I’m giving you one anyway. Keep up the good work.

I agree 100% with Focus. There could be nothing more repulsive to the public’s sensibilities or destructive to the Tower itself then the truth about what they have done and are doing now. We don’t have to make anything up; we just need to broadcast to the world the truth. ADVERTIZE, ADVERTIZE, ADVERTIZE, THE TRUTH ABOUT THE TRUTH!

Why try to destroy the Watch Tower, would it not be better to reform it?Take a look at the Catholic Church. They did some terrible things long ago, and even in modern times they have had their share of pedophiles too. But look at where they are now. They don’t cover-up wrongdoing anymore, they have even compensated victims, and they don’t force adherence to their theology as they did in the past. In fact, they do a lot of good now. Their food pantries and charities feed millions, their hospitals save countless lives and their schools and colleges provide a quality education for many.
So why don’t we concentrate on the few “minor” changes that would be necessary to transform the Watch Tower into something as good as the Catholic Church is today.
Lets see. First we would have to...

And then...
And then...
And then...
And then...
You know, maybe you are right after all, the Watch Tower is just to evil to reform. Lets nuke the whole god-dammed thing!
