i think as time goes on and dna gets understood better and better it will be imposible for fundamental christians to defend thier position against evolution.
kind of like the catholic church going against galileio saying the "earth is not the center of the universe".. "eventually"(maybe not now) to fight against the evidence makes you look very stupid and under heavy mind control.. don't get me wrong i beleive there is a god, and i think he used "gradualism" to create the universe and life, i even feel the first 2 chapter of genesis are discribing a very long drawn out process that took just as evolutionist are telling us, billions of years till finally man appears.. eventually the wt is going to have to change its understanding of genesis to even stay credible..
The fact that we find the same error code in our DNA and what are zoologically close animals speaks volumes about our shared heritage. We literally are cousins, but are not necessarily direct descendents of our furry friends.
Another telling manifestation of our commonality is in the way we get sick, grow old, and die. My 10-year-old purebred Black Lab is getting around the chin these days. Funny, I seem to be getting a bit gray too.

the good wife guide
have dinner ready.
plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal ready on time for his return from work.
Are you sure this was written during the fifties? This sound like excellent advice for all women today. I think I will share it with the wife. Wish me luck

millions have protested against bush and his blood for oil war all across europe and the world!.
there is still hope for peace!
IMHO protesting the war is a wonderful lesson in civics and should be encouraged. Im sure there are a number of honest hearted people protesting this war over legitimate concerns, however in among the many sincere people are a number of groups with quite different agendas then yours.
There are a number of groups activity participating who do not hold the interests or the welfare of our people in high regard. Do you know this? Do you know who they are?
Do a little research and you will be surprised just who is funding these professional protestors. Add to this mix those that are using this platform as just something to thwart the current administrations efforts at any cost, or in other words, the only reason is that they are looking for political gain and not necessarily holding the peoples interests first. There truly are some wolves among the sheep.
Unfortunately most people dont know this and they never will. But as I said, protesting the actions of your government, in this case an impending war is a good lesson in civics as long as you realize there are many others with different agendas then yours in the crowd.

is the internet really a good place to find information?a lot of people have learnt the truth about jehovahs witnesses through the internet, via web sites that proclaim to expose the truth about them.. but is the internet a safe place to gather information on important subjects?grated its very easy to find what you are looking for most of the time, but just how trust worthy is the information found within?often when i look at sites that discuss subject i have a good knowledge of there is a lot of nonsense talked by people who havent got a clue but just want to have a say.it is not always easy for the "novice" to determine who is the "expert" and who is not.. the internet suffers from this problem more than say books, because it is so easy for just anyone to write what they want, whereas to make a book you have to go through a lot of effort and it will have been read and checked by other people.. i tend to treat the internet like i treat people.i only listen if people can give a good explaination as to what they are saying or believe, if none is provided i will ignore the information whethr it is correct or not as there is no basis for me to trust it.. so in order to give good information we must always try to explain why we belive something to be the case.. dont just trust what you read (most people dont anyway)always look for the reasons why, and think of counter arguments , only then except what is writen and still be a little sceptical.
I have been on the net since I think around 1974-75 intermittently and more steadily since about Im guessing 1984. I have found the net to be the greatest library and repository of both relevant and arcane information on the planet. In the early days we had none of the tools available today. Basically all you could do then is send e-mail, copy files; use an early form of chat. There was no such thing as an ISP, you got in through a military connection know as a TAC (dialup) or from the high energy physics lab at a university, or through a defense contractor. Oh yes and if you were connected at 300 baud you were flying, no Im not kidding 300 baud! I still have an old terminal with a built in 300 baud acoustic modem. You dial the number and then place the phone headset in the suction cup modem and away you go.
I know most of you have no idea what I am talking about.
The Internet has changed everything; it did in part help liberate me from the Borg. And now at age 47 it is still changing my life. Now it is allowing me to be a full time student again without taking any time off from work. Where else can one earn college credit and degrees without leaving ones home? Just be careful to research the school and make sure they are regionally accredit or otherwise accredited by an agency recognized by the Department of Education. There are tons of diploma mills out there, only too willing to take your money! If you get involved with such a school, you will pay a lot of money and receive a diploma that is not worth the paper it is printed on.
As far as the worth of the information on the net, that is subjective. I suggest one do their own independent verification. Make note of everything but trust nothing important until it is verified. As far as information about JWs on the net, be forewarned there are some overtly dishonest sites telling lies about the witnesses on the net. Two site that I have encountered that are shamelessly dishonest on the subject of JWs are: www.watchtower.org and www.jw-media.org . Use discretion when visit these sites.

well it looks like we will be sending our troops home, as we dont have to worry about iraq retaining, creating, or using weapons of mass destruction anymore (wmd).
the iraqi dictator has sent a note to the chief u. n. weapons inspector informing him that he (has just now enacted legislation making wmd's illegal.
this wonderful news was announced by a gleeful hans blix just today at a televised meeting at the u.n.
The amazing thing in all of this is that Blix said this with all seriousness and plans to study the matter further. OMG! Is Blix on medication? Is he that clueless?
He must be, because he also spoke quite favorably about how much closer Iraq is to allowing unfettered access now. He cited how each U.N. inspector now has only 2 Iraqi minders following them all around. This is down from five per inspector a few weeks ago.
Unbelievable!

Now if we could only get a note from Osama Bin ladens mom promising that there will be no more terrorist attacks, then we could come down from hi-alert and maybe even dismantle the department of homeland security since it would not be needed anymore.
Somebody slap me

i have spent the last few days reading all the information about the wts on the internet.
i am shocked.
appalled.
Greetings B erylblue, and welcome to this humble abode!
Here you will find kinship and solace as most of us here have been down the same road you find yourself on now.
Healing happens in stages, it starts first with shock and disbelief, anger and sorrow but trust me it does get better as the days go on. When you get to the stage some of us are at, you may wish to move on or stay here in this community. That is entirely up to you.
Some of us do what we can to educate the public about the Watchtower and its lies, you can do that just by telling your story and experiences. Some of us here have chosen to have a very active roll in exposing the Dark Tower for what it is. In my own case I like to think of it as a hobby, payback, and a charity work for the public good. No matter what you choose to do or not do, just remember you are among friends.
Good luck to you Berylblue

*with apologies to anyone who may have already posted this, and dedicated to angharad who made me laugh with her how to give a cat a bath thread.
position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand.
as cat opens mouth pop pill into mouth.
This thread illustrates the point that some people are cat people, and some people are dog people; thats just the way it is.
I believe the key to enjoying cats and getting the most out of them is knowing just how to cook them. I happen to love cats and I think most dog owners would too if you gave them half a chance.
Just remember to cook slowly and use plenty of barbeque sauce.
Enjoy your cat
