a certain jw doesn't believe in the 1914 doctrine any longer.

this, of course, naturally gives rise to certain serious problems.

for example, how can this person now continue to participate in field service activities and make use of the publications produced by the wts?

Some years ago when I dared to start seriously questioning some basic JW doctrines I asked to borrow an AID book from an Elder friend of mine who then proceeded to ask me as to why I needed it. I said I just wanted to do a bit more research on the destruction of Jerusalem. When I gave it back a few days later he asked how my research was doing, and I said, well, I hit a bit of an impasse, I just can?t seem to find any support for the destruction of Jerusalem in the year 607 BCE outside of the AID book and other Watchtower printed literature. All the historians and scholars point to a different date. He said, and I will quote him verbatim, ?Well they are obliviously mistaken because if it didn?t happen in the year 607 then everything which is built off of that date like 1914, 1919 would just not be true.? I said oh yes, I see what you are saying; I guess you are right, they just must have it wrong.

Incredible is it not? He had given himself the answer, but he was just too dense, too brain-dead, and too brainwashed to ever see. Regrettably the poor SOB is still in.

The Dark Tower, a prison without bars

three days ago i was chit-chatting with my wife about the impending cold weather and snowstorm forecasted to hit our area when the conversation unexpectedly turned a bit negative.

she made the statement that they might cancel the meeting if the roads become too dangerous, i replied that they just might but really if she went to the meeting or not, the decision was up to her based on her best judgment.

her retort was to the effect of not to tell her what to do and that she would go to the meeting if she wanted to.

Honestly I was not implying that she needed to stay home but was trying to assure her that it was OK if she didi and that the decision was ultimately with her, i. e. not based on a phone call from some elder telling her it was OK to stay home.

The subject was dropped and yesterday we got belted with snow and bitter cold as predicted. Well she got the big call from one of her handlers and when she got off the phone she was in high spirits saying these words ?I?m free, I?m free, they canceled the meeting?. I couldn?t believe what she was saying, enunciating in no uncertain terms that she so much wanted to stay home and not go out in the bitter cold. I was just dying inside to point out how much control she was under, but I just held my tongue and instead said "wow that?s great babe, how do you want to celebrate"? She asked me to fix her an adult beverage and so I did. We spent the remainder of the evening enjoying each others company, just like normal people do all the time, just like we did before we joined a cult.

Message to lurkers: This is just another real-life example of just how much control the Dark Tower has over your life. Get out while you still can!

i was watching cnn when i was in mexico and they had a very interesting question to the viewers so i was wondering what your answer would be?.

since no weapons of mass destruction have not been found should blair and bush be tried in a world court for the actions and be held responsible for all the killing?.

Considering that fact that chemical weapons have indeed been found a few days ago, I guess CNN will now have to revise their question. Perhaps they could change it to: should Blair and Bush be tried in a world court for the actions and be held responsible for all the killing if no additional weapons are found?

What Regrets Did You Have Because You Were A Witness?

one of the biggest regrets a person might have is that they let their children become involved in the whole jw "thing".

you know---everything from the elders always cornering them to "investigate" something or even having the parents "turn in" their own kids......is there anything that you especially regret?

Raising my children in a cult. Fortunately I am now able to prevent my youngest child from attending meetings and the other seems to be abandoning the cult all on his own. THANK GOD!!

Reborn makes some very valid points, this was no humanitarian mission, we were there primarily for self serving reasons! Despite what the Bush administration says the primary reason we went to war against the MONSTER WE CREATED was the fear that his deadly toys could now slip into the hands of people highly motivated to kill us. 9-11 was a wake up call and quite frankly I think it scared the crap out of Bush.

Actually Foreword, IMHO the quantity is totally irrelevant, any amount in this mans hands is too much. The real fear for me anyway is not that Saddam would use them himself as he has in the past, but that these weapons could find there way into the hands of other persons willing to use them. If you sincerely feel it is acceptable for this tyrant to have some amount WMDs, as you seem to indicate, could you please then quantify the amounts that would be acceptable to you?

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Danish troops have found suspicious mortar shells in southern Iraq and officials are checking to see if they are chemical weapons, according to Coalition officials.

Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt, a U.S. Army spokesman, said Saturday 30 to 40 120mm mortars containing liquid were discovered south of Al-Amara, north of Basra.

The shells are being examined, and Kimmitt said it is suspected that the ordnance could be left over from the Iran-Iraq war in the mid-1980s.

"Most were wrapped in plastic bags, and some were leaking," he added.

Good God, if this stuff is WMD and there is a good chance it is, I just hope nobody gets killed disposing of it.

Just last week I heard something funny come out of the mouth of my sons die-hard JW friend. The boys were apparently discussing the flood and my son?s friend said, ?I don?t believe in dinosaurs?. Apparently this boy felt that either the age of dinosaur fossils or the shear massive size of these animals threatened the validity of the great flood / Noah story; which in fact it does.

To my son?s credit he replied: ?but dude what about all the giant bones they found??

Unfortunately I wasn?t able to clearly here the response to that, but from what little I did hear it was along the lines of the bones and other artifacts are being made up by evolutionists. And to that my son said something along the lines of yeah whatever you say Mark.

It?s nice to know that my son in spite of the fact of being raised in a cult knows how to think for himself and critically examine information. It?s a pity our friend hooberus is unable to do the same. I hope for his sake he learns to do so one day.
