  Jehovah's Witnesses---A Cult or Not?

  when i first got on this site, i would bristle at the thought that i ever belonged to a cult.. do you believe that witnesses are truly "cultists"?.

  "Religious Order of Jehovah's Witnesses"...letter from WT!

  just found a letter from wt to my son acknowledging his letter to them asking for a bethel application and that is the letterhead at the top...and they signed it that way..........i have never heard of this!

  !..........weird...anybody?.........i guess because it is about bethel they consider it like a convent or monastery?...................oompa.

  i remember an elder in my congregation gave the talk "godly view of sex and marriage" in the 90's.

  he was talking about masturbation.

  he said to the audience if you have any problems with masturbation, please let him know, he also said please do not be embarrassed.

  Our first Halloween

  mrs fader and i went over to a friends house to hand out candy.

  we only lightly prepared for the occasion, with just a few cool clothing items like funky hats and shirts, but we bought lots of candy.

  we initially expected only a few kids and we would be left with a bunch of late night snacks, but we were "cleaned out".

  i too lost my halloween virginity last night!....but i went all out to party, self made costume...put it on and showed it to jw wife before i left....partied with df son and friends.........life is fun again!.........oompa

  "origins" of things like holidays...what jw started this crap?

  i do not believe there is any bible precedent for the wt teaching that the origin of some celebration is important...as in it is pagan...and back in 1914 holidays and b-days were ok...i know that changed, but why?...why did all of a sudden it matter the origin of it?...i tried to get wife to see the folly of the wt position of saying pinatas dont matter now despite an evil disgusting satanic wicked origin...to no avail.

  on a side note of similar interest...who came up with the teaching inanimate objects could be possessed by demons when it never happened in the bible and how often do they do that anymore?.........thanks....see i can still be serious!.......oompa.

  i apologize if this has been mentioned, but i don't have the time to come on here as often.

  yesterday's bookstudy on divorce got my shorts in a bit of a knot.

  apparently, according to the god's love book, a wife could consider legal separation from her husband if she is physically abused, but (get this) only in the case of extreme physical abuse, and if the wife's life is in danger.

  so just got it outta the way for today....told jw wife i am going to a party tonight at br---ns....she says "what kind?

  "...lmao!...so big grin on face i say a halloween party of course....."well that is disappointing" ......i cant believe you are surprised, i always wanted to dress up at halloween..... so i then told cat i may go as capt jack sparrow....her idol....but how do i do that double eye makeup on my eyelids?....not gonna be just a pirate...i want the eyes still open eyelids....... otherwise i am gonna be as bad character as possible....and who is the baddest?....could it beeeeee.........satan!?!..........oompa.

  she would freak out if i walk outta here in a satan outfit!!!!.

  Is WT right about the "dangers" of High School reunions?

  god i hope so!.....cause i partied my ass off all weekend at one, hooked up with my old gf who omg is still smokin hot!!!

  (i was in way over my head back then and still am prob) but we made a damm fine lookin couple (i was told by many) as many of you facebook friends of mine now already know....ok maybe changing my avatar to a pic with me and her all yummy was a bit much....but i really dont give a damm anymore...as you can tell by me also switching my status from married to complicated!!!.

  well...its been complicated for four years, and that should have been my status all along....i have so wanted to avoid the pain of hurting a very nice jw woman/person/wife..........but also losing my parents and son, and any of the few friends that may still speak with me on occasion....but i have known i can not keep living like i have the past four years...i just cant do it.

  AMEN hopscotch...and they also make you see what you have missed out on....so many of my old friends are still real friends with each other.....and it also makes you think that you have not got much more quality time in life to waste....hell it was my 30th and most there will look VERY different from now and sad so many have already let themselves go so bad..............oompa

  Living With Regret - what do YOU regret about being in the org?

  1. getting baptized at 14 and not knowing what the heck i was 'signing' up for.

  2. dating worthless, lazy, no work ethic, selfish 'brothers' who were supposedly approved all because they were baptized - but in the end - were a waste of my time and younger years in dating.. 3. subjecting my bf (back in the day) who was a non-jw to the whole jw experience!

  i demanded that he study, i demanded that he change his religion in order to be with me, i made him sit with my parents and listened to them berate him (and myself) while they fed him all their haughty beliefs and requirements in order to date their jw daughter.

  ditto as to everyone here with regrets....and like blondies comments about living in the moment now.....heard this recently and liked it

  i am going to start really living and enjoy my new freedom of thought and life....and try and stop visiting the misery of my born in jw past....hell i have even been absent a ton here lately....and see that as a good thing......off and on these past two years i would have to force myself to stay away from this wonderful lifeline!..........thanks all.............oompa
