Minimus, your perceptions are dead on. I may recall an actual list here recently of such a ranking system. I also feel race, and money factor in as well.
at least it is down south...oompa
there is clearly a caste system in the organization.
there is a pecking order.
certain classes of people did not associate with those not of the same ilk.

basically i di'ad last year and at first hubby was petrified and was more like a jw apologist than a supportive spouse.
however this year esp the last few months, where even his own mother has told him she won't set foot in our door even to see her grandchildren he is v v disgusted with the religion.
the problem we have tbh is moving on properly and i know what it is, he doesn't believe it anymore, yet he says shes still his mother even though shes never been good to him and he knows she's totally cut him out if he left (she only v seldomly texts or rings him if she wants something).
He hasn't been to meetings in a year. He has never had any friends in it. Alot of jws don't talk to him anyway, he won't talk to them either if i am there with him.
so this is really more of a mommy problem?

for saturday morning bookstudy!!!!
thanks for checking on me though.
every meeting now i ask her "so what did you learn at the meeting" and i can tell she is getting tired of answering.
Alligator has a GREAT idea!:
Once the book study meeting is over, instead of the usual mundane chat regarding weather and work, I occasionally ask the brothers and sisters in my bookstudy group (Revelation Climax publication) what they learned from the meeting.
Everyone still attending shoud do this every meeting!!! You almost NEVER learn anything at these meetings, and look how many there are, or how many you have attended in life (good God). At meetings end, it is instantly social, lets make people start thinging IN the hall...a totally new concept.
By the way, so sorry for my accidental blank post! I pmd all of the first few posters and apologized and asked them to take a second look. I know crying wolf is going to bite me when she leaves for good, but I was just in a fun mood.
where is my revelaion book.....oompa

Dobbie, I am in similar situation except my wife is really strong believer. You are probably close to seeing your husband set free. Is it only the mum or does he have some close JW friends? I agree with the other posts that well placed, not too frequent, observations and questions are in order. And make him think about the reality of his mum as well.
However, "toxic waste" is supposed to be disposed of. So if you you have a two story home, I would push her down the steps. lol
it is quicker....oompa
anyone have one of the old pink songbooks?.
or know how much they pop up for on ebay?.
Geeze my memory sucks! I have everybodys singing Loyal Love, when the song number on the Van must have been maybe 63 or 62? It was "Were Jehovah's Witnesses", that way anyone who saw their van knew they were JW's (if they knew their songbook).
And OUTLAW is still too funny!!!:
Oompa..A 4th generation JW and you don`t have any relatives with massive WBT$ Librarys..Strange..???..LOL!!...OUTLAW
Do you still not believe my 1919 chicken story? My relatives probably have boxes of old songbooks, I just haven't seen any displayed on fireplace mantels though. Would ANYBODY ever want to boast about something as shameful as being 4th gen? And damn if I didn't create a 5th. Grew up believeing the best bible was green and three inches thick....oompa
as a parent with a df'd 22 year old son who i love to hang with, i just need to vent a little.
my completly ingrained family do not treat him as family.
it kills me.
Homerovah:
Good point oompa, if I remember correctly It brings a great amount of pride for the parents to see their children get baptized young
it brings to the parents a great degree of respectability in the congregation,
I must have been fading internally for longer than I thought. I remember BEGGING my 16 year old (now 22) to NOT get baptized! I knew it was not worth the risk, and he always had a wild hair up his ass. Just like since he was 13, he would not listen.
now he listens better....oompa
hi.. just wondering what it was that first made you realise that jws didnt have the absolute "truth"?
was there a specific event/turning point for you or was it a moment of enlightenment?.
chukky.
Orgull-- Amen friend!
The more I read and studied, the less the teachings of the WTS made sense to me.
So many minor comments from FDS over the years that bugged me, went beyond the scriptures, or could not be proven, but I just kept putting them "on the shelf." Like the Daniel book saying "Really, Britain is an offshoot of Rome," I must have read a hundred pages of history to prove Britain was alive and well before Rome came and took over only half the place, and Britain was there when Rome left. You can not change history to make a prphecy fit what you want it to. Then, when I finally study and find the truth about something major to me, the NWT being bogus, the shelf comes crashing down.
so much bull$hit!!!!!!!oompa

I want to grill out with all my family on the deck like a few years ago. Mom, Pop, please come over....yes "HE" will be here, he is my son, and your grandson.
We were both 16 when we got plunged, but I have been at a convention with loud applause when they noted the babtisms that day "included from age 9 to 90" Yeeehaaa! Now due to this "bloom of youth" thing we can't date anybody, much less consider marriage because we are too immature. But we can, in our mind/heart/prayer make a VOW to serve God in ways we can not comprend, or comprehend the penalties if we do not serve correctly.
When these kids, at 15, 16, 17... (when there is pretty much one thing on lots of guys and girls minds) go for a little hand up the girls shirt or get a little horizontal panty pumping going on, that is what they should be doing! I swear when you want to take on some religious cloak (or spash) like a Monk, you better have grown up more. I say 25 is a good MINIMUM age.
Our poor immature kids are dealt a psycotic hand when DF'd. Yey they can't even legally, buy cigaretts, go to an R rated movie, vote, go in the military, drive a car somtimes, drink beer. Geez these are kids, and they get treated like some criminal in isolation!
How could this policy ever change? not that many scriptures....oompa
