omg - just watched the clip above, haven't had chance to read transcripts yet as I usually do daily
quote their excuse for GJ not appearing:
"as the GB was not involved in the implementation and administration of policies and procedures in relation to child sex abuse he would not be able to give relevant evidence..."LIE LIE LIE LIE LIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

Sorry if this is a repeat but I would like to see focus on the October 2012 letter of the governing body to the elders:
" Not every individual who has sexually abused a child in the past is considered a ‘predator.’ The branch office, not the local body of elders, determines whether an individual who has sexually abused children in the past will be considered a ‘predator.’ If the branch office determines that an individual will be considered a ‘predator,’ parents with minor children will need to be warned of the danger that exists so that they can protect their children.
So the elders get to decide who is a predator?
Do they not accept that pedophiles generally appear as wolves in sheeps clothing, i.e. appear meak mild and innocent on the outside but are predatory and that this may not easily be detected by the elders? Not exactly going to hold a sign saying ' I AM A PREDATOR' are they?
Do the elders/branch agree to be liable if they get this wrong and don't identify a predator correctly?
Does the organisation accept the professional view of the high propensity to reoffend amongst pedophiles?
Also in this letter is the paragraph on privileges:
“It cannot be said in every case that one who has sexually abused a child could never qualify for privileges of service in the congregation."
Why not? Why shouldn't a pedophile a criminal of the sort with a notoriously high propensity to reoffend be completed excluded from privileges for the rest of their life - small punishment.
Finally - what will they say to the universal right to preach which allows known pedophiles to call on homes of the unsuspecting public, including places where there are young children, and conduct bible studies.

by InquiryMan inhttp://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2015/08/04/jehovahs-witnesses-change-abuse-rules.
.
jws in australia agrees to change procedures in regards to reporting abuse..

I don't see any change here or am I mistaken, I thought they already agreed to report where MANDATORY reporting is in place. My question is why would you need to be forced by law to report a dangerous child molester? -

Contacted by Royal Commission today
by umbertoecho infirstly, thank you to anyone who is in support of this rc.
no one has shown anything but great interest and empathy for those who were abused.. i don't know who this simonsays character is though and i find him to be very rude and ignorant.
it takes all kinds to make the world go round i suppose.. today i was contacted by a staff member of the royal commission.

Well done!!! what courage.
It restores my faith in humanity to see good justice in action. I hope you get your own justice, don't be afraid to go for compensation, if you have been a victim of a crime, you have the right to it! In UK there is a criminal compensation board for just that.

I have a fingers in the ears spouse too, I feel your pain...
im just learning tatt so I'm zealous about it, especially this week with the Australian royal commission but he won't even read a newspaper article about it, it is maddening isn't it?
having said that I had a bit of an epiphany this week, he became very depressed to the point of not functioning because I'd managed to get some stuff through to him that I think caused C.D. He had an awful childhood and a very early adult difficult life and I think he feels Jehovah/the org saved him. I'm honestly not sure he could cope mentally with awakening.
So I've decided to back off, agree to disagree and focus on positive non jw aspects of our marriage, kids, eating out together, movies, sex etc... Try to be a good wifey, the only time that will be difficult is when we clash on parenting, but I hope to be the voice of reason&balance for the kids when it comes to higher education, extracurricular activities and 'worldly' friends, we'll see how that goes?!?!?!

Well written, scathing article that summarises first 3 days of RC hearing.
by Pants of Righteousness inthere's been quite a number newspaper articles quoted over the past week, but i would recommend this as a good summary of the first three days of the royal commission hearing in australia - complete with some scathing commentary.. apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, but have not seen this posted previously.. https://www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/news/law-crime/2015/08/01/royal-commission-examines-jehovah-witnesses-cover/14383512002194.
just one thing that is not quite right is that the article refers to joe bello as a narrogin elder.
the assualts took place while the victim was part of the narrogin congregation.
