Sometimes I think Jehovah's Witnesses overuse the word "historic"
by slimboyfat inat the beginning of the may broadcast stephen lett said this was a historic broadcast.
he explained that every member of the governing body had hosted a show and they were starting over again.
that was all the explanation he gave.

They're response has all the attitude of a belligerent child 'that's not fair, it's not like that', 'it might be black but I say it's white' -

Feeling rejected
by Esmeralda001 injust a little disclaimer: english isn't my first language (i'm from france) thus the poor writing skills.here is the situation: i'm not a jw.
however, i'm in the process of becoming one.
in fact, i'm studying with the jw's, and i'll proceed to become an unbaptized publisher as soon as i finish the first book.to make a long story short i was introduced to the truth when i was 18een.

I'm sorry Esmerelda but I'm afraid most of us have experienced this judgementalism and lack of love within the congregations. I converted at 18 and spent 25 years trying to be accepted and never feeling good enough. There are sisters, brothers or families like that in every congregation. Yes there are kind and well meaning brothers and sisters too, but unfortunately it seems to be the prominent ones who are judgemental and cliquey and they can really make you feel terrible and leave you left out of social events etc... If you are single, attractive and with a good education and career you are setting yourself up for a lonely life combatting jealousy in this religion.
I realised that this religion isn't the truth just recently, because my children were treated badly by others and it opened my eyes. I still love God and Jesus but I don't believe in following blindly what 7 men in New York tell us to do, Jesus said 'I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the father except through me" , before you commit please read some alternative viewpoints of the witnesses. After all truth should stand up to scrutiny, you know this from your studies. I don't want you to make wrong decisions and be unhappy for many years as I have been. Here is a good place to start:
at least read this short leaflet: http://jwfacts.com/print/jw-studies-pamphlet

Watchtower's response to Royal Commission shows they have learned nothing and will do nothing
by wannaexit ini've quickly read through watchtower's submission to the royal commission.
seems like they aren't planning to change policy anytime soon.
they are critical of how the royal commission handled the situation.. the tone is of the submission is shear arrogance.

The tone of the two documents is very telling. The ARC present a balanced, common sense approach in interpreting the evidence presented. They have no particular axe to grind against the WTS as opposed to other organizations, only to present their findings in respect to child safety and make recommendations.
The WTS response is nasty and litigious, they've employed some shark lawyers to nit pick and pull apart the findings on technicalities, it's BS of course but it looks to me like they are paving the way for litigation against compensation claims.

Surely this now means anyone can just walk away and not face consequences, from now on if anyone is chased by the 'spiritual policemen' they can produce this document :
The policies and practices of Jehovah’s Witnesses do not require any individual who no longer wants to be subject to their “rules and discipline” to formally disassociate themselves. They can simply stop associating with the congregation. Such individuals are not shunned.
-
For example, Mr Geoffrey Jackson stated:283 “I thought I made it quite clear I don’t agree with that supposition”. We do not have a “so-called spiritual police force” to chase after ones who no longer want to be Jehovah’s Witnesses.”
-
For example, Mr O’Brien stated: 284 “They don’t have to disassociate themselves to stop associating. They don’t lose their spiritual or familial association by being inactive.”

Just having a quick read through, the findings are damning. Mr Toole is being reported to the law society of Australia...
A few highlights so far:
The practices and procedures of the Jehovah’s Witness organisation for the prevention of child sexual abuse, and in particular for the management of the risk of an abuser reoffending, do not take account of the actual risk of an offender reoffending and accordingly place children in the organisation at significant risk of sexual abuse.
-
F70 The Jehovah’s Witness organisation’s policy of requiring its adherents to actively shun those who leave the organisation:
-
makes it extremely difficult for someone to leave the organisation
-
b) is cruel on those who leave and on their friends and family who remain behind
-
c) is particularly cruel on those who have suffered child sexual abuse in the organisation and
who wish to leave because they feel that their complaints about it have not been
adequately dealt with
-
d) is not apparently justified by the Scriptures which are cited in support of it
-
e) is adopted and enforced in order to prevent people from leaving the organisation and
thereby to maintain its membership, and
-
f) is in conflict with the organisation’s professed support for freedom of religious choice
and the belief that Jehovah God is a compassionate God who recognises the worth and dignity of all human beings
-
