I agree with Finkelstein too on 'hating kids'.....when we moved to where the need was greater that congregation hated the children who attended as a group.....we kids were proof the end was nigh (2 Tim 3:2) and made to feel like worthless burdens. Children hindered greater FS, were annoyances at the Hall expected to be seen but never heard. ......not even elderkids were immune.

Yes, I will admit there are a lot of kind and gentle congregations (I originally came from one) but even they as Finkelstein mentions harmed kids by expecting us to live up to the overbearing regulations of the WTS.......childhood joy is restricted to theocratic endeavors only.....any displays of talent beyond theocratic endeavors are vain and selfish. ......at best we were like the soap children in Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm (BTW I wasn't allowed to read fiction books beyond ones assigned)

First mention of "new light" may appear in July 15, 2013 Watchtower

a trusted source informs me that the "new light" about the faithful slave is to make its first printed appearance in the july 15th watchtower, which should be available for download online three weeks from now, on around april 15th.. i'm led to believe that the references to the new understanding are made in such a manner as to suggest the "new light" isn't that new at all, which suggests to me that little or no effort is being made to explain the doctrinal connotations.

my source and i are hoping to get a key paragraph posted at the earliest opportunity.

I think my congo will do a tag-team presentation like they did with 'Jesus meant generation' but I doubt anyone in the audience besides me will do much besides the usual bobble-head nodding.

I wonder if they will just shelve the anointed eventually to only GB too.......

How do you think the Memorial should be celebrated? How are you going to spend it?

for the first time, i realize that many people have different views about this.. some people believe that all should partake, others don't believe that there should be a memorial.. some are going to the hall, others are having their own celebrations still others are just going to be doing normal activities.. how do you think the memorial should be celebrated?

I don't like the drabness we have.....

I want a shared big venue with other congregations....(thanks to CO prodding a bit of rivalry attitude has developed so we are stuck with late-night stilted time slots for each congregation to have their own private Memorial)

I want potluck and dancing afterwards.....(hint hint Bethel, piano instrumentals are as horrible today as they were when first introduced ......either let us go back to actual pianos/instruments or use those DC-compositions.....yea yea they sound like propaganda but I don't care cuz they are more upbeat)

I want party dresses and not just springy FS garb.....

I want fun-hopeful-happy-upbeat presentations that make the Special Talk sound worthwhile attending

Its our only 'holiday' for Goodness sakes!!!......its not like i am suggeting hill cumorah

I will be attending, new dress and all......kids and nb-hub in tow

Not sure about about extra partaking later....feeling kinda "Quaker-ish".

Okie Dokie I will tackle the WTS gospel portion of the OP.....

The WTS's gospel of the Kingdom is simply 'Jesus was enthroned in 1914".

We began teaching this in March 1, 1925's WT article 'Birth of the Nation'.

Prior to this article the entronement was 1878. (BTW the parousia wasn't changed from 1874 to 1914 until 1943)

Why? Because the WTS historically makes such doctrinal changes to explain why the end is ever nigh, still managed to not yet happen and the WTS is still relevent in it's claim as God's Sole Channel.

We have a tendency to be a 'rear-view mirror' religion ....

For fun you can always cross compare Gal 1:6-9......Rutherford decided that holy spirit was retro-removed in 1929/30 from leading the WTS starting in 1918 and thus this 1925 different gospel teaching was given to the WTS by angels.....

This was the good news that was to be proclaimed, the news that God's Kingdom was already in operation.

Instead Of Begging and Badgering Witnesses For Money, What Expenses Could The COs And Governing Body Cut-back?

the watchtower is hurting for cash, the circuit overseers are asking everyone throughout the industrialized world to donate their "valuable things" to aid the massive growth in areas where funds are not plentiful.

the united states is covered with quarters and half-dollars on their streets, we just need to pick them up and put them in the donation box.. .

there are many areas the watchtower can trim or cut costs to save money.

I agree with Wizard... quality and relevance is way down and JWs aren't as interested or invested. Thus already-JWs donate less (if any) and they goof on FS which impacts the rate of quality-donation-affording-would-be-converts......

The WTS's control model is also costly.....Mormon CO-equivalents keep their day jobs so they don't need church cars or insurances.

My final thoughts : .... with the appointment of GB Sanderson it is clear the WTS isn't looking for an exit amount.......they are just hunkering down and padding for lean times that post 2014 might bring......

Interesting District Convention News.....

i wanted to share some news from a family friend (he is my wt mole - still an elder, hates the shenanigans, but is still hanging on for all the reasons often discussed on this site) i know the various rumors have been discussed on here, and unfortunately the rumor about the conventions being eliminated weren't true!

(what a burden on the jw community - financial hardship for a good portion of them, guilting people into actually quitting their job to attend, physically exhausting for many, etc...etc......).

anyway, he told me that the district convention is being moved to 11 weekends at the jw-owned circuit assembly hall, and they are no longer planning on renting stadiums/large facilities in our area (northern ohio/southern michigan).

We are still having ours at a rented venue in 2013.....

If they make this switch I think it is financially wise on two fronts....

1) they own it and that increases their profit

2) excuse to build a few more assembly halls

(Please, Yahweh build them in a fun city and not out in BFE)

Need advice from a female

long story short.

ive been married for 18 years to my beautiful wife.

when i was younger i had a lot of attention due to my looks which has always made me extremely uncomfortable.

How about low-socializing dates for the next 6mo-1 year (movies, theatre, ballet, concerts- think darkly lit venues). Create a couples/family hobby like putting in a garden this spring. Cook together! Read to her in bed (something erotic?) or as a family project like classic lit (women just love to hear their husband's voices in a leading and constant manner). Generally speaking just touch her more in ways that say you care and love her beyond your sexual needs...(deep stares into her eyes, hugs, should rubs, hold her hand etc)..... Increase deeply intimate sex too!

It is a new year and perfect time for baby-step resolutions like:

Diet/Nutrition

Once-week/month meal planning which limits unhealthy choices.

Consider slow-carb foods and a carb-cycling free-day once a week where indulgences can be enjoyed.

Anytime a dietary change is made most of us get major cravings so maybe consider an appetite suppressant like bulk-fiber konjac root (ingredient in most diet pills) which can be bought cheaply from sites like puritan's pride (100 cap, 1000mg ea $15 compared to $50 for 30 caps of name-brand products). She will take 2 caps 1 hour before each meal with a full glass of water....it expands in her stomach and she will eat less (so what she eats is now of greater importance for nutrients) and try and get her to drink between 4-6 oz of water each hour throughout the daytime because the pills work better that way and a lot of people suffer from mild-dehydration.

Daily multi-vitamin......always a good idea

Exercise:

Sign her up to a women friendly low-impact gym like Curves. Curves is not my favorite gym but it is a great starter place for those just beginning!

Do stuff on the weekend: Hiking (state park?), play with kiddos outside as a family....just try and get out at least one or two weekends a month.

Decent trainers.....a good pair of trainers will give her the support to stay on her feet and maybe a pedometer with the goal of 10,000 or more steps a day building to 50,000.....I found when I wear trainers I am more active than in my ballet flats.

Just be optimistic and energetic with lots of supportive love!

Why most young/teen JW's are born-in's?

age 8-18 or maybe older.why won't you find young people or teens in the world who want to learn about the jw's without being taught by their parents?i mean c'mon guys we all know that the majority of the jw youth are jw's because their mothers,fathers or both told them about the org.any thoughts?.

Isn't this true of majority of religions?

Yes I am aware that many churches have youth outreach programs like afterschool care or Sunday School buses but the WTS doesn't engage in such activities and unlike times past a lot of JW discern the inappropriateness of trying to convert non-relative children.
