I asked my mom (still in) what she would think if the JWs changed their view of blood fractions (again) and she said "new light is always brighter!" Then I asked, what if they changed their mind about Jesus' ransom sacrifice, and she said, "They won't say that, it is in the Bible." I raised my eyebrows and smiled. She quickly changed the subject. I could literally see the crack open in her mind as she realized what she said.

If People Told you the JW's Would Change These Beliefs & Practices.....
by flipper inwould you have believed it ?
( i give credit to the poster password protected for giving me the idea of this thread ) .. after exiting the witnesses in 2003 i have noticed many changes within the wt society which really surprised me but after analyzing the changes - they really have convinced me the wt society and jehovah's witnesses are a mind control cult intent on ruling people's lives.
here are some i have noticed that have changed :.

Since You're In The "World" Now What Types Of Friends Do You Have?
by minimus injehovah's witnesses are supposed to be the best friends you could ever have.
they're supposed to be genuine and loving.. not that you're out of jw friends, what's it like?.

I have friends...
of all faiths without judgment between us, only discussion, with an appreciation for our similarities instead of focus on differences.
of both sexes and all sexual tendencies without the constant worry about gossip and misunderstanding.
of all ages.
of different degrees of intimacy, some best friends, some mentors, some aquaintances.
in short, I now have friends. I never realized that 'the friends' were never friends, just wardens of moral conduct.

Nine year old baptized
by EmptyInside inthis weekend at the circuit assembly, (i stayed home, thank goodness), i heard a nine year -old girl was baptized.
and she seems a bit mature for her age, but hardly mature enough,in my opinion, to make such a choice on her own.
it seems to be a trend in our circuit right now.

The biggest difference between this and an infant baptism is that the way the religion looks at baptism. Catholics do not consider baptism to mean that the child is Catholic, only that the parents vow to teach the child about God. The choice to be part of the Church is later when they are mid teens. JW consider baptism to mean membership.

I remember going into a house where the man at the door seemed interested. I was 16 and my partner was an 8 year old girl. Fortunately for us, the man was a preacher who intended to straighten out our souls instead of tying us up in the basement and torturing/raping us. Funny, the elder in our group was more concerned with how we handled the preaching we received than how dangerous it was. BTW, I was never warned about entering ANY home where there was interest. So dangerous.

Thanks for your comments. It's funny how I now look back and see how blind I was. It boggles the mind.

Matthew 7:18-20 says:
"A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." NASVWhen I was a JW I would look at charities and not see the good being done because I was conditioned to think that only JWs did good and all others were evil and acting out of selfish intent. Now I see people who do good for others simply because they want to help.
My sons were watching a Disney movie yesterday and I came in and sat down when I heard the music and recognized my childhood favorite, "The Little Mermaid." Nic asked me why Ariel couldn't just talk to the human because he isn't a bad guy. He couldn't understand why her dad thought all humans were bad. We talked about how sometimes we judge other groups based on the actions of a few. It was a good lesson for Nic to learn, especially when his father is trying to turn him into a JW and judge all those, including me, as being worldly and evil and deserving of death by God's hand. I also saw a deeper meaning in the way Ariel kept objects from humans and could see that there was some good in that world high above her, even though she was raised to believe that they were all evil monsters. How could they make such beautiful things if they were evil?
When I look at all of the good things done on this earth in the name of humanity and various religious groups, I can see that we cannot be corrupt as humans if we are doing good for others. It reinforces my belief that all religions have their bad moments, and so God cannot expect us to overlook those things to be part of ANY 'true faith.' I believe that God will judge us individually and that we will all be surprised at who he/she is like. My faith lies in the human spirit and the way we instinctively help others in trouble.
Just my humble opinion,

by troubled mind inmy jw in laws send us these types of emails every once in a while .
never is there any real personal correspondence from them and it irritates me.
i have sent emails back before critiquing the logic of some of their emails.. i will be sending a response to this latest one ,and i would appreciate some ideas .. i know many of you on this forum are so excellant with your words i would enjoy your input .. the first thing that came to my mind after i read the illustration was "i am so glad i am no longer on the endless tread mill of witness logic that has you running forever from scary imaginary spirit beings ".

So, are they running away from Satan, or are they running toward the finish line(paradise)? It doesn't matter as long as they are running instead of thinking, right?

Have you ever head the expression 'the turn of the screw?' It means that the same story, belief, idea, concept, etc can take on an entirely different meaning if you only change your perception by one little turn of a screw. Classic example is the movie "the Others" when you find out that the story is told from the viewpoint of the haunters instead of the haunted.
I have retained some of my former JW beliefs, "God is love" "Christ's ransom" "love everyone as yourself" etc. The difference is how I choose to look at those beliefs. Instead of considering 'field service' volunteer work that benefits the community, I volunteer for GoodWill or the Food Bank. The problem with JW beliefs are mostly in the way they apply the Christian principles to themselves. I am only commenting on the basic Christian beliefs that JWs claim to hold.
My biggest epiphany was when I asked a man in my bible study group "What if the end is right around the corner, I don't finish college, my kids don't go to school and the JWs are right?" He said, "So what, if you are kind, loving, and doing what you believe is right, then you don't have to worry. God reads your heart, not your actions. He will not judge you unworthy just because you are trying to provide better for the children He gave you." Wow, what a simple little turn of perception and all of the anxiety was gone.
So yes, the JWs are right about some things, but wrong in the way that they react to their beliefs.
