especially if you went out of town to give a talk, certain ones (only sisters) would take their note taking very very seriously.. another thing that used to get to me was when you'd see the same people every assembly on the platform giving a talk or being in a part.

Talks based on the great faith the brothers have in South America, Africa and other third world countries. IE: Our brothers in ___________ love Jehovah so much they walk 10 Kilometers to get to a meeting and they sit in Kingdom halls with no light and leaky roofs and they walk 20 miles to get to assemblies and they do all this with a smile because they have so much faith....

in 1989, when the wt said, "the preaching work will be completed before the end of this century", i believed it.

then when they changed it in the bound volume, i was a little nervous, but i didnt say anything.. but then when i was a missionary, and i personally went to the branch office about a pedophile, and they told me to leave it in jehovah's hands, and that jehovah will erase the girl's mind and to stay out of it, that really bothered me.

i couldnt sleep.

Here is my take on that question after being an elder for 22 years and a Jdub for 28 years.

The majority of the dubs are just in it because it's the religion they were born into. They don't really pay much attention to the crap being spewed at the meetings or the literature (they don't really even read that) they just put on the show).

Unless one of that group is personally affected by somthing that happens they won't break they'll just keep doing whatever it is they do.

Then there are those that do pay attention and do try to follow all the changes and teachings of the bORG those people are so blinded by the cult or so involved through friends, and family that even if they see somthing that is totallly wierd they won't speak up no they will "wait on Jehovah to change things" just like they've been waiting for the last 30 years

So to summerize, some will reach a breaking point as I did but most will just go on and on because it's the only thing they know and they have been dumbed down so much they won't be able to excersize their ability to think.

Armageddon or Economic Opportunity!

within a month - and the next two weeks in particular - we may know if the efforts by governments to fend off economic collapse will likely work.

right now, there is fear about the unwinding of lehman derivatives and how it will play out - that may end before oct. 23.. if it's an economic armageddon, then buy a bike, stock up on whatever pharmaceuticals you require and stock up on canned goods.. but if it's not, you might want to invest in the rally that may explode if trouble passes.. good grief, some stocks are stunningly cheap.

australian securities have taken a beating they don't deserve.. this could be the opportunity of a lifetime ( and that's not just a cliche).

This is absolutley a buying opportunity in the stock market and in the housing market

For example

30 days ago General Electric stock was $40.00 per share, today it is $19.00 per share.

This is General Electric folks. I don't expect them to go out of business anytime soon. And to top it off they are currently payin a 6.5% dividend on investments. Where else can you put your money and earn 6.5%?

Warren Buffet bought GE when it dropped to $25.00 a share it's probably safe to say that within 2 years the stock will be back up to or higher then $40.00 / share. Remember we're going to need electric generation (that's GE) more efficient airplane engines (that's GE) Refridgerators, dishwashers, etc. etc. (That's all GE) The only thing that might stop GE is armageddon unless God need's them for new light (that's GE)

A few days ago my husband said that we should start going to the meetings again because the economy is so bad. So, I asked him why and he said because witnesses help each other!

He must know some witnesses that I don't. The only ones they help are those that might be able to help them. IE: help them knock on more doors, help them spew out meeting parts so they don't have to do as many, help them by putting more cash in the boxes at the back of the hall so they don't have to put as much in, help them build or remodel more halls so they don't have to work as hard at it.

You better tell your husband if he expects help from the witnesses he's going to have to work for it. It would be easier to just get an extra job at McDonalds 3 days a week then trying to get somthing from the witnesses.
