What's the strangest thing you've heard someone seek counsel with the elders about?
by keyser soze inpersonally, i never went to the elders with anything(not voluntarily, anyway).
but a friend of mine once asked a couple of elders whether it would be acceptable for him and his wife to make a sex tape, for their own personal viewing.
needless to say, the idea was frowned upon..

I was asked to counsel a young man who felt guilty because he was haveing nocturnal emissions. The wierd thing was that his father who was also an elder asked me to talk to his son. I explained to the son that it was quite natural occurance and that he should concern himself with it.
The boy was probably about 20 some years old and now he is a stuff shirted elder of about 40 years old

Are you an athiest and why?
by LouBelle ini'm interested in finding out people's reasons as to why they are athiest.. i have simply through life experience, my research into religions over the years come to that conclusion.
never thought i would come to a day that i did not believe in a god.
believing in a god is like believing in super man, it would be great if he existed but well it's just a fairy tale.

For those who think THEY are in financial problems
by therevealer inuse google earth to view patterson and wallkill (watchtower farms).

Are you infering that because the Watchtower Bible and Tract society have all these buildings and property they are not having financial problems?
Consider some other examples of organization's that have or are having financial problems
1. The United States (lots of buildings and land)
2. General Motors (lots of buildings, land, and machinery)
3. Chrysler (same things a General Motors)
4. California (Lot's of land and quite a few buildings)
5. Many other states with the same things as California
etc. etc etc
At this point, I don't think the watchtower society is having financial problems at present but I think (and I think they do too) there business model points to financial problems ahead. IE
lower rates of contribution
more members from third world countrys who need finanical help
Cash flow at this point is not a problem because of all the real estate recently sold in NYC but if expenditures continue as they are, and income being what it is, they could be facing some financial problems in the future despite all the land and buildings.

An Elder's honest opinion...saw this on another site...thoughts?
by MsGrowingGirl20 inby "shadow elder".
before i express my opinion to the readers and contributors to this website (www.ex-jw.com), i would like to explain who i am and to present my bona fides as someone qualified to comment on this website and jehovah's witnesses in general.. first of all, i am an active jehovah's witness living just outside of new york city.
being a large metropolis, new york has many kingdom halls located within the city and several more in surrounding boroughs, counties, and suburbs.

If he's waiting for the holy spirit to correct things, he's got a long wait, maybe he thinks he's going to live forever.

My understanding as a former elder is as long as you are a NPG (non-practicing gay) you can be a JW however, you would never be able to be an elder, a ministerial servant, or a pioneer. And you would NEVER be able to practice your sexuality.
As in our whole society, many are more tolerent of Homosexual's as long as they don't live in our backyard, the witnesses are much like the world they will tolerate you as long as you don't act too gay.
Good luck with your endevours and remember you will be disfellowshipped if you do have a homosexual affair

Bill Maher Quip on "Real Time"
by DNCall inregarding the "stand your ground" law, bill maher joked that if the law was on the books in his state (california, i believe), his front lawn would be littered with jehovah's witnesses.
just felt like sharing.

Funny, I love Bill he is not afraid to tell it like it is in all catagories. I don't know how much he know's about Jehovah's Witnesses. They would even be more of a pain if he only knew how wierd they really are.
