when you think back at how boring being a witness was, it's amazing that we lasted as long as we did.. i hear jws get sooo excited when they leave a tract with a person!
a stupid little tract!
or if a witness was asked to come into the same car that the circuit overseer was in, it would be considered such a "privilege".
angel eyes, you can come and clean my toilets anytime you want just PM me and I will give you my address.

If you've ever been to Amsterdam (or you can get it at specialty candy stores in North America) you can buy sweets called Dubbel Zout! It's truly a love hate candy,
Next time I'm in Amsterdam I'm not going to be shopping for candy and I'm not going to be shopping for whores.
So guess what I'm going to be shopping for?

today i have to take joshua to get a round of shots so he can start school tomorrow.
i haven't said anything about the shots, best not to warn him before hand.
i will have a treat for him to help ease the pain and remind him that tomorrow he goes to school.
Knowing Joshua, I think he'll love it in school.

i have attended just a handful of meetings over the 2 months.
i went yesterday, because i had an assignment and i really wanted to see my mate talk about masturbation from the platform, knowing he would be very uncomfortable about it!!!!.
anyway after the meeting i was approached by the cobe.
Happy fading. Sounds like your plan is going well.

i've done a jwn search on beards and had some great reads.. i've learned the history of russell vs. rutherford and knorr and the hippies.. here's what i'd like to hear about.. either you or someone you know who grew a beard and the fallout because of it.. for me, i'd love to hear about the squeaky clean elder who decided to grow a beard and got removed because of it.. katie kitten, from england, on another thread told the story of her dad, the squeaky clean elder who grew a beard in the 70's and got away with it.. i don't think that would happen in california 2009.. anyway, what are your beard stories?.
i'm all ears.
(and my ears are freshly plucked.
When I was studying in 1978, I had a beard, a full beard. When my wife and I started going to meetings I saw that no one at the KH had beards. At our next study I asked my study conductor brother Pinhead if there was a problem with my beard. He said that my beard would not prevent me from being baptized. I got baptized with a beard at an international in 78. Later that summer one of the older uneducated but innocent elders in the cong called me up and the end of a meeting to say the prayer. There was instant commotion at the back of the hall and after the song, a microphone was brought over to my seat so that I could say the prayer without going up on the stage.
Soon after that an elder was put in charge of talking to me about my beard. He first explained why I was not allowed to go up to the stage to pray. He then encouraged me to shave off the beard because he and the BOE had high hopes for me to progress and I would not be allowed to progress if I chose to wear a beard. I decided I could be of more help to people by progressing then I would be if I kept the beard.
They won, I shaved it off.

i've just watched all 3 parts of francis ford coppola's epic godfather once again.
it is a superb achievement on many levels.
each viewing reveals something new and fresh.. i recall, as a good jw at the time, not seeing it when released as it was not certified as 'suitable' given the content for jws.
"Life is Beautiful"
This movie shows how far one person will go for their child. The hero of the story loved and enjoyed life so much that he wanted to share that love and enjoyment even under the nightmarish conditions of a concentration camp. I think that quality resides in each one of us and often it is in the difficult times that it shines.

my eyes fell out of my head when i found this....i always thought the tree of knowlege had "magic powers" but the watchtower said no, no it's just symbolic.. this is how the verse reads in the nwt bible.
gen 3:6 "the woman saw that the tree was good for food and it was something to be longed for to the eyes, the tree was desirable to look upon......." {repeats the same verse twice!}.
check out the nwt footnote study version.
There has to be more to this. ???
There is. The tree was actually a huge cannabis 30 feet high and when you ate from it, you gained wisdom and open mindedness. They also realized they had no clothes on. In fact they realized that there was no such thing as clothes yet so they, while under the influence of the cannabis invented clothes.
The reason God did not want them to eat the cannabis was because they would become more aware of their surroundings and would realize they were locked in a garden and also God thought that if they ate cannabis they would go on to stronger and more mind opening herbs like mushrooms and cactus.
Satan knew that once they ate from the magical cannabis, they would no longer be happy with just a small garden to live in and they would expand their horizons and move on. That way he could live in the garden by himself without people bothering him because you know how hard it is to be a snake and with kids yet to show up on the seen Satan knew if he didn't get those people out of there, the kids were sure to be a problem when they arrived.
LD's version of the story
i was always frustrated with how much counsel and advice was given at the kingdom hall on how not to offend others.
it seemed like complete immunity was given to the person getting offended.
they were never counselled to just mind their own business, but if anyone had any reason to be offended about something you had done, the elders, or that person, would be sure to let you know about it.. most of the time it was nobody's business.

I have a bar/liquor cabinet in my house. I had it when there was book study at my place back when I was a Witness. Kept it closed. Apparently, an elder's wife was stumbled.
Maybe she was just pissed because you didn't offer her a couple of shots of scotch before the bookstudy started so she could get through it.
