They moved up the surgery date, I'm going under the knife on Monday!
Feeling both anxious and a little nervous, but I'm sure everything will go well.
after being on a waiting list for three and a half years i've finally reached the light at the end of the tunnel and am going under the knife for a gastric sleeve operation in march.
i can't tell you how pumped i am because i'll finally be able to re-take my life after being severely overweight for several years.
i gained a ton of weight after being put on meds for bipolar disorder and it made exercising a painful chore.

i was raised a jw and i am still one but recently i have been having trouble believing in a god.
this is not meant to offend anyone who does, i am just curious to see if i am the only one who thinks this..... to start, i am a very black and white person.
if 1+1=2 it makes sense to me and i can agree with it.
A really good couple of books for you to consider would be "Who Wrote the Bible?" by Richard Eliot Friedman and "The Bible Unearthed" by Neil Asher Silberman.

Welcome aboard! I was a born-in too (and a real zealous one at that) until I started having doubts in my twenties about the silliness of the WT's literal interpretation of the biblical flood account and the general unpleasantness of the homicidal Old Testament God.
It was a long journey but now I'm a happy and fulfilled atheist.
if you want to read the definitive explanation on fossils and how life arrived its covered in darwins doubt, by s.c. meyer.
this is a game changer.
the bomb!.
So it "doesn't matter" that there was a verifiable (by chemical DNA testing) separate hominid species with advanced social constructs and toolmaking skills that lived paralell to modern humans? I'd say that's a pretty big freaking deal.

Neanderthals are like "squatty eskimos" who are "100% human"? Are you for real?
They have sequenced Neanderthal DNA from bone samples and it is not h. sapiens sapiens. Neanderthal mitochondrial DNA differs by 202 base pairs compared to modern humans.
That's chemistry, not conjecture.
(Also, the word is Inuit, not "Eskimo" and they are by no means "squatty" you ignoramus. Their traditional clothing is bulky to keep warm but I've worked with and gone to school with Inuits and they're just regular people, as proportioned as you and me. I mean seriously, you sound like you're from the 19th century.)
do you feel nervous and stunted when trying to date?
i still do and i am 23..

Yeah, I'm still sad he hasn't answered my question about neanderthal DNA.

Just got off the phone with the inpatient clinic, official date for the surgery is March 13th. Woohoo!

Thanks again for all the support and kind words! Someone mentioned gastric bypass versus the sleeve, my surgeon determined that due to my very high BMI it would be safer to go with just a sleeve because there is less risk of complications. I have a friend who had the RnY bypass done and he literally melted over the course of a year, a bit too much if you ask me. He's 6'0" 165lbs now and that's with approximately 30 pounds of excess skin still hanging on him, to give you an idea of how skinny he got.

I had to first get a referral to a specialist from my family doctor, then a screening appointment, then a three and a half year wait, then lung tests, sleep apnea tests, assorted blood tests and finally a seven-week pre-op liquid diet to shrink my liver in preparation for the surgery.
