Question on good and evil...
by digderidoo ingrowing up as a dub i always belived mankind was inheritantly good.
that because of adam and eve being perfect, they then ate the fruit and so that sinful side was passed on through the generations.. since leaving i have often wondered whether mankind is inheritantly good or evil.. when wicked acts occur, this makes me think that some have this evil deep down inside of them.
yet when someone helps others i then think that maybe some have good inside of them.. so is mankind inheritantly good or bad?

Consider this... What do we hear on the news every day?
We hear mostly bad things. Why? Because these things are abnormally trajic, which means they don't happen all the time, which makes it news. If the world were more evil than good, good deeds would be on the news, because the good things would be abnormal, which would make it news. I think most people are inherently good and when push comes to shove they will do what they think is morally right. The variable in there is the wide range of morals out there. What you or I think is good might not enter into the thought processes of other people.

Hell Does Not Exist
by megs inaccording to spong, not only does hell not exist, but neither does the divinity of christ, a theistic god, miracles, the redemptive property of jesus' death on the cross, his resurrection, his ascension, and many other things besides.

I spent my childhood in NJ, going out in service in the ice cold winter, then the latter years I spent in the blistering heat in Georgia. Service sucks no matter where you are.

Name Things That Are Uniquely "Special" To Jehovah's Witnesses
by minimus injws have certain must haves.
for example a jw needs his or her own "bookbag".
an elder needs an "elder case", something very big, because after all, he's an elder!

A bag full of Watchtower literature in your car at all times, just in case you're carjacked and the carjacker needs something to read. It may change his life!

That is absolutely right: you don't tell anyone you're going to file. Your creditors will go into hyperdrive trying to do anything to get whatever they can. The first clue that you've filed for bankruptcy should be the notice to the individual creditors from your lawyer. After that happens, tell them to all buzz off and never to call you again.
Also, after you've been to court and your bankruptcy is declared, beware of creditors trying to get you to "reaffirm" the debt you've just finished getting discharged. They will be right there at the courthouse waiting for you. Do NOT reaffirm the debt. They will promise you that you will have a line of credit with them and that it will help your credit, but it will not. When you pay them off, they will lower your credit limit to $0.00 and the debt will still be listed as a charge off or included in the bankruptcy. It won't help you other than making you feel better about paying them back! LOL

Yes, they can try to garnish wages, but only after a judge gives the OK. Even then, garnishment is appealable, kind of like child support payments. And, under garnishment, they can't take your whole paycheck. I forget what the maximum percentage is. But, they can, and will take your entire bank account. They usually wait until your direct deposit goes in from work, and then blammo! Your account is toast.

Resoltions at the cong
by Iwonder17 inso last night, our cong asked us to pass a resolution.. what i noticed was, the elder reads the resoltion and then asks for everyone in favor, while he is looking down.. all of the dubs just raise their hands, and before even looking up, th elder says, ok, we'll approve this and send it off.. what a joke !!
why even bother.
just make the rules and tell them people, don't give them the illusion that they have a say in the matter.

My father and one other elder would question resolutions all the time. Some would get irritated, but when you're talking about the distribution of money or other assets, there are important questions that must be asked before giving it the nod of approval. My father would usually ask how much, how many payments, and for how long.... did we get other estimates? etc., etc. The fact that people would just raise their hands like idiots was scary. Usually, people who raise their hands and don't ask any questions are the same people that can't manage their own finances, either.

What Draws Out The Lurker/Newbies
by Not Feeling It ini'm sure this has been discussed.
i was wondering what attracts a lurker/n00b to post for the first time.
i made my first post in someone else's thread eschewing the "hi, i'm new" thing.. for anyone, particularly the lurkers/noobies:.

What draws out the "newbies" is what drew out the rest of us! There's a reason why there are so many of us here.

It is perfectly legal for a creditor to seek out funds if you owe them money and are delinquent. That goes for any creditor. If you go to small claims court and win a judgement against someone, you have the legal right to "hunt" for their liquid assets and seize them to satisfy the debt owed. That is why if you are in financial trouble you STOP paying with checks, keep only minimal amounts of money in the bank and start paying everything in cash or with a money order. AND NEVER give a creditor your checking account number and routing information over the phone to make an electronic payment. They can, and will empty your account if they feel you are going to bale on the debt. It may seem "insensitive", but that's the way the game is played. A creditor gives you money because you promise to pay. When you stop paying, they aren't going to forget about it; they are going to get their money any way they can.
I know. I filed for bankruptcy 6 years ago. I was a single dad with a baby who's mother took off and left us for dead. I had no money. After about 18 months of getting harrassing calls from debt collectors and trying to work out payment agreements with creditors (who wouldn't work things out with me...) I had to throw in the towel and file. The lawyer I hired and the judge who was in charge of my bankruptcy both asked me the same question: Why did I wait so long to file? Hello!!! There's a reason why I haven't been paying my bills! I have no money! What made them think I didn't have money to pay bills, but I had $1,500 hanging around to pay an attorney?
I had Bank Of America accounts at that time, and I still do. Nobody tried to empty my accounts but I think that was because my accounts were already empty. If you file for bankruptcy and you get to keep your house, you're ok. After about 6 months I got a credit card and my credit score started to go back up. My credit was back to normal in about 4 years, even with the bankruptcy still listed on my report. I know the rules for bankruptcy have changed and you may still have to pay on the debt. I didn't have to pay mine. Just hang in there and try to file as quickly as possible, because the longer you wait, the more chances your creditors have to come after you and even obtain judgements against you, which aren't able to be discharged in a bankruptcy.
