I always liked the way the Kingdom Hall looked fading from sight in my rear view mirror.

) but is there anything you did enjoy about the religion?

Witnesses don't have doctrines, they have disbeliefs and policies. Neither can be debated because the dis-beliefs have no merit apart from the counter-believing group, and the policies are not debatable because they are group laws backed by inquisitions, trials, and punishments.
The only thing to be debated is from what distance does my ass look best to you? 100 or 200 miles? -

How to not get disfellowshipped even though you do not believe anymore
by BonaFide inthis has been working for me well in talking with family and friends about "the truth.".
1. before you bring up a topic, talk about how we are allowed to ask questions, and we are encouraged to do so.
i have tried saying, "one thing i like about the organization is that it encourages us to use our minds, and we don't get into trouble for asking questions, the organization loves questions like the ancient bereans did.. 2. always phrase things in the form of a question.

Most of my Witness relatives and many Witness acquaintances were my enemies, waiting for an opportunity to prove it. I wouldn't piss on one of em if they were on fire.

That changes everything. If I were single today, I'd hire a housekeeper and a hooker. Both are honest relationships. If I want companionship, I'd get a dog. -

If I treat the old dog as good as I have to treat the new dog, I wouldn't have any problems with the old dog and not be needing a new dog.

HERE'S A BOMBSHELL ABOUT THE 144,000 DOCTRINE......
by Mary injust when you think you've heard it all............in my research for my project, i was doing some digging around on the subject of the 144,000 and came across something in the wts's literature that absolutely stunned me and, being the generous soul that i am , wanted to pass it on to you to get your thoughts on this.. .
we all know that the society teaches that the 144,000 mentioned in revelation is speaking of "spiritual israel" and not 'fleshly israel' or even other christians in general right?
there are countless quotes throughout the literature that we are all familiar with that specifically state this, but to drive home a point, here are a few:.

Hi Mary,
It's good to bring this back up for those who haven't researched much or read the whole Bible contextually and in sequence yet. All Jehovah's Witness dogma that I've ever looked at, even casually, is only supported by three things: (1.) A topical reading of the Bible; (2.) The assumption that Biblical writings have a typical and an a-typical reading; and, (3.) The required serious application of superstitions like numerology and spirit channeling.
This was the subject of one of my last conversations with my father. I asked him the definition of a Christian, and he said it's a person who does what Jesus did. So, I asked if that means every "Christian" would have to be a Jewish Rabbi, walk everywhere, keep the festivals, preach in the Synagogs, eat with prostitutes, talk to apostates, not get baptized until age 30, and be a political activist?
I asked him why Paul preached in the Synagogs??
He said: "I've got another appointment."
That ended that. -

I actually like them coming to visit. If they did, I wouldn't want to discourage them in any unusual disrespectful way. One time a circuit rider visited me and my goal was to get his mailing address. After three hours I still didn't get it. That SOB had something to hide!
Things are not on the up and up.
I pride myself on being able to have a Witness looking up his own butt with three flips. I've never seen a Witness say something that can stand three reductions. I have to save that for last though because it's hostile and it scares them. They back right out the door.
My problem has always been keeping my knives sharp. I don't have a regular sparring partner. -

Not much doctrine these days. Just do what we tell you and you'll be fine.
by easyreader1970 insince they came out with the study edition of the watchtower magazine in january, i have noticed a trend.
some of you have probably noticed this as well if you have been attending any of the meetings.. with the exception of changing their base doctrine about "this generation" and 1914, the articles don't discuss or reveal or even reiterate doctrine anymore.
marriage mates, parents, children, elderly.

You wrote: "My main point was to say that the Society seems to be drifting away from doctrine . . . "
That's because all their doctrine is nonsense. A 6th grader can defeat their doctrines now. Not one single thing they have now makes sense, hasn't already failed, or can be found in any Bible. You might say they are in a doctrinal vacuum.
Dis-beliefs only hold so much interest to an unpaid volunteer. That theory has been over tested. Hype alone won't even sell a vacuum cleaner. Vacuums and Witnesses do have one thing in common . . . they both suck! -
