if i seem out of it, for the next few days, it's because i fell down a flight of stairs, slipped on the carpeted stairs in my bare feet, and broke my tail bone, and split a toe open, and had to have stitches.
so i'm on heavey narcotics, and if you need to get ahold of me in any amount of time, then a phone call is the best bet.
ciao for now.
Sorry to hear that, hound. Well, lie back, get doped up and become thoroughly addicted to The Hung and the Breasted.

I know you are, Shari. I feel that about you, even from halfway across the country. I'm your cheering section, hon.

Run For The Roses
The song is ostensibly about a colt coming of age, yes. But we all know Dan isn't singing to a horse. He's singing to humans. The horse is just symbolic of our lives, our own coming of age. The horse is bred for the race, and now it's time to run. So with us: we go through our parents' upbringing, school, training, experience at social contacts, team sports, neighborhood activities; and one day we're brand new adults, and it's time to run the race for real.
The race is life itself, the living of it, the indulgence, the experiencing, taking part, making something of ourselves and getting satisfaction, carving out our niche; being in it rather than sitting on the sideline watching it go by.
There are any number of reasons folks can find, to excuse themselves from running. Many do. You were an abused child; you were born with a handicap; your parents were killed in an accident; you had a string of abusive husbands/boyrfriends. But reasons, even strong and valid ones, can be overcome.
The thing is, it's our own individual decision when to run. If we sit waiting for somebody else to fix something that's stopping us, we'll wind up at the end of our lives without ever having lived it. What a pity, to be 90 years old and one day say, "Well... I guess the white knight's not coming after all. Damn... wish I'd known that sooner."
Born in the valley
And raised in the trees
Of Western Kentucky
On wobbly knees
With mama beside you
To help you along,
You'll soon be a'growin' up strong
Oh, the long lazy mornings
In pastures of green,
The sun on your withers,
The wind in your mane
Could never prepare you
For what lies ahead;
The run for the roses so red
And it's run for the roses
As fast as you can
Your fate is delivered,
You moment's at hand
It's the chance of a lifetime
In a lifetime of chance
And it's high time you joined in the dance
It's high time you joined in the dance
From sire to sire,
It's born in the blood
The fire of a mare and
The strength of a stud
It's breeding, and it's training,
And it's something unknown
That drives you and carries you home
And it's run for the roses
As fast as you can
Your fate is delivered
You moment's at hand
It's the chance of a lifetime
In a lifetime of chance
And it's high time you joined in the dance
It's high time you joined in the dance

if you could change something about yourself by simply waving a magic wand what would be different about you?
The idea of a 39 year old virgin calls to my mind the image of a flower bud that never opened, that spent the springtime with its petals still wrapped up inside itself while the bees were visiting its sibling roses.
Reminds me of Dan Fogelberg's classic coming-of-age song, "Run for the Roses":
And it's run for the roses
As fast as you can
Your fate is delivered
Your moment's at hand
It's the chance of a lifetime
In a lifetime of chance
And it's high time you joined in the dance;
It's high time you joined in the dance.
Dance while you're living, hon. Don't put your life on a shelf waiting for the perfect man who's going to make you feel validated. Validate yourself. The moments are passing.
if you could change something about yourself by simply waving a magic wand what would be different about you?
Lilacs... I dunno, I'm missing something in your thought. You're saying you'd like to spend your life without sex, and men made you that way. This is supposed to appeal to a man? How?
if you could change something about yourself by simply waving a magic wand what would be different about you?
Uh... Lilacs, hon... the thought of a 39 year old virgin is not exciting. It just makes a man start running down the list of possible reasons why she's spent half her life without sex.
if you could change something about yourself by simply waving a magic wand what would be different about you?
