Scarborough, UK JW Paedophile around 1999-2000?
by James_Slash ini'm just looking to see if anyone was aware of this.. i was a jw at the time and me, my friend and my mother would often attend the scarborough, south bay congregation whenever we were on vacation - probably over a 3-year-period.. around 1999-2000 we went there and there was an american 'brother' present who had married a 'sister' who he had met at the new york bethel when she had visited.
both he and she were regular pioneers.
you could tell that the congregation held them in the very highest regard.. i remember on the thursday night during the service meeting they got him on the platform and he told the whole congregation how he emptied the bins at bethel but enjoyed doing it for jehovah.

Around 1999-2000 we went there and there was an American 'Brother' present who had married a 'sister' who he had met at the New York bethel when she had visited. Both he and she were regular pioneers. You could tell that the congregation held them in the very highest regard.
I remember on the Thursday night during the Service meeting they got him on the platform and he told the whole congregation how he emptied the bins at Bethel but enjoyed doing it for Jehovah. He said how being at Bethel had shaped him and readjusted his mind and he was blessed by meeting his current wife and moving to England to be with her. He said how he had been blessed with his 'window washer' job which had been provided to him on his arrival by another Brother in the congregation, and how he and his wife had been blessed by being able to undertake the Regular Pioneer work.
The congregation were in awe of him.
After that meeting, he and his wife invited a few of us back to his apartment for a pizza. I remember as I was leaving he requested my telephone number but said to me as I was leaving "if you get disfellowshipped, please let me know so that I can take you out of my address book".
I remember thinking at the time that this guy was too good to be true. I remember he couldn't hold eye contact for very long and that is something I look for to see if someone is genuine.
A few weeks later I had a phone call from someone in that congregation saying that this guy was in jail! Apparently he had been 'touching up' the younger girls in the congregation and he had been arrested. One of the Elders in the congregation had been attacked by one of the girls Fathers (who was not a JW) and put in hospital.
I visited the same congregation a year later and his wife was remarried and pregnant. No mention of him. You would have never known he was ever there.
His name was Albert.....something? Never caught his second name. Does anyone recall this ever being reported?

I just find it amazing how people fall for this.
They cleverly word things to make it look like you are doing it for Jehovah, no-one else. Not even yourself.
It also warns about your conduct - how it reflects on others. It is of no surprise that many Pioneers I knew lose their personality and become almost robot-like with their thinking for fear of losing the title of pioneer.

I've been labelled an apostate over Paedophile scandal - official
by James_Slash ini recieved this e-mail earlier today after making an issue out of the paedophile problem on my facebook page.
obviously, this person is a jw and someone must have snitched to her.. what did you think?.
hope you are well.

Yes Black Sheep, there are probably more but who cares?
I've been gone for 5 years now but have only recently started expressing my dislike of certain things to do with the JW's when probably JW 'friends' also thought that I was a 'sympathiser'.
A few of them were convinced that I would be back and even tried to convince me to leave my current partner and child and return to a faith that I no longer believe in. I found this laughable and they couldn't understand my cynicism.
I started questioning the WTBTS long before I left. There were many issues - not just to do with paedophiles that I felt uncomfortable about. I think it was mainly peoples conduct outside the Kingdom Hall that I found most disturbing.

Charity status - discrimination
by James_Slash insomeone told me this the other day.. does anyone know if it is true that to hold charity 'status' that you cannot discriminate against colour, creed, sexual preference, disability etc etc?.
surely the wtbts go against these 'rules' by disfellowshipping homosexuals or discriminating against the mentally ill?.
just a thought..

The Amish
by James_Slash ini watched an interesting programme last night on the amish religion.
i remember watching the film "witness" many years ago with harrison ford so i already had an insight into what sort of people they were.. they seem a peaceful, family/community orientated group who stick to the teachings in the bible like glue.
when jesus spoke about 'being separate from the world' surely no-one could have followed this more than the amish.

I've recieved a response from her saying that it was only fair to hear both sides of the story!!! No apology, nothing.
I actually discovered it was an ex-JW who snitched on me to her current JW Mom. Word got passed amongst 3-4 people and landed at the feet of the person who e-mailed me on Friday.
All JW's and some ex-JW's who are still 'sympathisers' have now been removed from Facebook and blocked! Good riddance.

They seem a peaceful, family/community orientated group who stick to the teachings in the Bible like glue. When Jesus spoke about 'being separate from the world' surely no-one could have followed this more than the Amish. They have never 'moved with the times' and so their simple lifestyle fits the Bible to a tee.
They only mix within their own community, marry within their own community, work within their own community. They do not possess phones, internet, television, radio and everything they do is for the glory of God.
What are everyones thoughts on these people? Are they moral, upstanding members of society who believe in true Christian values to the letter, or are they brainwashed mentalists who are trapped inside a community of power hungry religious leaders who hold more of a grip over them than the JWs?
Thoughts?

My Moms shepherding call re: the organisation
by James_Slash inthe elder in addition to the paedophile problem stated that not even "half" of the jw's at meetings are "proper witnesses".
he said the lifestyle of many are ruining the organisation for the majority.. i thought it was most interesting that despite his gripes with the religious leaders, jesus still used the temple to communicate with god despite eventually god removing his blessing from the jewish nation.. he intimated that eventually this would happen with the jw's.
its a funny comment for an elder to make..
