This has piqued my curiosity as well.

Questions by JWs in 1976
by Doug Mason inin 1976, my friend bruce price was in contact with jehovahs witnesses who had become disillusioned through the debacle with 1975. bruce was the leading voice among the sda ministry in working for jws.
at the time, i was a member of the sda church.
although i left them about 25 years ago, to this day bruce and i enjoy a strong and genuinely warm friendship.. so, in 1976 bruce invited me to a meeting with one of the jws who was leading the disquiet in his congregation in dandenong (victoria, australia).

by Monsieur ini remember reading somewhere in regards to a a 'prophet' of sorts who had predicted all the popes that have been chosen.. his 'prophecy' stated that the next pope (since benedict has resigned) would be the last before the 'end' would come.
his name would be pope peter.. let's see what happens.
we are suppose to know who the next pope will be before easter..

Man I hope they get this guy, and I'm glad that it seems Costa Rica has a good relationship with the US.
The extradition situation between the US and Taiwan is seemingly nonexistant. A few years ago an American guy charged with several counts of molestation (he ran a daycare along with his wife, who was also charged) jumped bail and fled to Taiwan. Althought the Taiwanese authorities were made aware, their hands were tied because of no formal relations with the US.
Anyway, they were able to get the guy back to the US for a different reason: His visa expired. To locate the guy they had a female officer leave her contact information around the varous expat clubs, looking for a "language exchange." That flushed the guy out and he was sent back because of the expired visa, where authorities were waiting for him.
It took awhile but it finally worked out. You can run but you can't hide forever. -

You're sweet Joliette. I'm hitting the big 5-0 in March, and my body is definitely beginning to feel old, so definitely no offense taken here.
Hey, do any of you other old farts remember the movie Logan's Run? A life of Paradise (hmm, how appropriate for this forum)...but you only get to live to age 30.

Why did you pick the name you have now
by label licker injust wondering if your name describes what you saw, how you were treated when you were "in" or now "out", maybe your personality, ect.... i'm label licker and the why i picked this name was because of all the licking up one side of elders and down the other to either be an elder or ministerial servant.
one time i was standing right in front of this brother who wasn't made an ms yet and he totally ignored me and talked right over my head speaking really loud trying to catch the co's attention.. got sick of watching the poor elderly sitting all alone or standing against the wall like a wall flower with noone to talk to and yet all these label lickers would take turns picking up the elders elderly parents and take them shopping and do their groceries at least four times a week while out in service, yet, there was noone there to take a meal to a sister who just got out of the hospital with a heart attack.
when i had shown up at her apartment with a meal she asked if i could wash her private and change her bandages.

What Are Words That You Or Others Have A Hard Time Pronouncing?
by minimus init drives me crazy when people say "altimers disease".. or jewlery.. .

I've always had difficulty with "similarly" and "accompaniment." In class I fequently ask, "Do you usually..." and half the time the two [yu] sounds together trip me up. I'm an ESL teacher so it's especially embarrassing when I can't pronounce (or spell!) something.
"Pro-NOUN-ciation" and other commonly mispronounced words are mentioned in this British video, with deadly results

My last meeting was sometime in 1999. It was actually a judicial meeting. During the meeting I honestly felt contrite and determined to be a good JW, which I guess the elders sensed also and decided not to DF me. Strangely, though, as soon as I left the hall, it was like my mind suddenly opened. After 36 years as a born-in, it was at that moment, driving back home, that I finally had clarity and thought, "What the hell have I been doing all this time?" It wasn't really any specific doctrine, just a kind of overall feeling that it was all a waste of time.
I decided then and there that I would never go to another meeting, and for the first time I felt absolutely no guilt about it. I lost my JW mom and sister over this decision, but I regained my life.
