do you think paradise, as depicted by the watchtower, an everlasting life praising jehovah and playing with what we now know as wild animals, not to mention cultivating a piece of land, is really a desirable place?
bear in mind that there is no reference to science and that personal goals are non-existent..
inkling, Here's the thing. Their lives NOW are being stolen.
totally agree.
Concidering the (statistically very good) chance that this is the only shot we
get at life, convincing someone to put thier lives on hold for a future fantasy
that will never get is a cruel and evil theft....
A murder of attainable hopes and dreams.

I'm sorry, but this statement is simply wrong and misleading, and I cannot let it stand unchallenged.
Please note the following quote:
Yes, just as we never tire of eating, so mankind will never get tired of learning new things, acquiring new skills. There will be time daily for such things. Mankind will have ample time to exercise both mind and body. With commercialized, competitive sports a thing of the past, no doubt there will be more healthful ways of expending energy, such as in community games, in hiking, in swimming. Lovers of music will learn to play expertly the grandest of music, that will then be composed, on all the variety of instruments that perfect men will no doubt invent.
Many persons, no doubt, will want to use their spare time throughout the centuries to study the great variety of plant life, of which, we are told, there are at present more than 350,000 known species. They can also spend as many years as they want to in becoming fully acquainted with the many, many different kinds of mammals, reptiles, birds, fish and insects. Others may prefer directing their skills in the line of such arts as painting and sculpture or in the fields of science. Yes, humankind will be ever learning, ever coming up with new ideas. Bored? Never! Not for all eternity!

This is NOT an anomalous quote. Among witnesses I know, this idea is repeated over and over again...
"I can't wait to learn piano in the new system", or painting, or biology.... etc. This is very often the
main reason a JW will PUT OFF doing somthing they really love doing, becuase they will "have forever" to do it.
(not a risk, BTW, that I am willing to take)
Anyway, I respect your right to criticize the JW notion of paradise, and there is plenty to criticize, but this
type of clear misrepresentation of witness belief seriously damages the credibility of everyone in this community.

My wife and I got invited to an elder's house Thursday evening for a full Turkey dinner with all the fixings. There were about 20 others from the congregation. One of the other present elders sons (7 yrs old) is like "is this a thanksgiving meal" The father goes "No. We are thankful everyday." eat your turkey. It's like it's such a soft-core holiday everyone can do it and just wink and grin. I found this all very amusing until it struck me how hypocritical the whole thing is. [ink]you guys this has really freaked me out so much tonight as i was looking though my revelation book climax at hand i was looking to see where we had left off and i usually do this by seeing where i have stopped highlighting in the book.. so i started at pg 156 & 157 of the book so there were a bunch of marks on those two pages their are pics nothing special there.. but on page 159 their is a pic of jesus in the heavens where he is extending his handout to get a piece of paper and that's where i notice on the hand that were the wrinkles are supposed to be there is a face like a fetusnow i mean anybody can tell you that is a face of a baby.
i don't know why a baby on jesus hand or what it suppose to mean.
i guess it really shows how the control tower (watchtower) make me a jw feel really shitty.
if it's a baby, why does the baby have a moustache?
seriously though, i don't see it. Yeah, its shaped a bit weird, but I think it's just amateur art skills. The whole subliminal art thing strikes me as way too "conspiracy theory" never-landed-on-the-moon-ish for me to take seriously

list your reasons why you can say that the witnesses clearly do not have "the truth".
They are an apocalyptic cult that attempts to steer through the modern world using an antiquated internally- contradictory collection of "sacred" texts as their guide.
mmm, nice wording.

i know "bttt" means "bump to the top", and is done on threads that people think are good, and.
need help from slipping into oblivion... right?.
what i don't get is that the msgs i see are ordered by simply the date of posting, so how does.
It was months before I learned of the 'active topics' link. I felt like an idiot when I found it.
yea! i'm not the only one. [ink]

But ask me about other non-addictive drugs like e.
Does anyone think pot IS addictive? I wouldn't know, I've never smoked it, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that it's only possible addiction is psychological or emotional, not chemical.
