  Ahaha, I just got that exact lecture from mom. With the bonus question, "are you gay?"

  Dating was just never in my plans in the Borg, and since I've been out I've been focused on other things, like figuring out what I'm going to do with my life if the world isn't about to end.

  I don't quite get how "not currently boning a female" = "must want to bone guys." People are weird.

  i didn't go to college and of course, "higher education" was never recommended.

  still, i never felt terribly deprived because of not going further in my education.. yet, i did wish that i could've had "normal" aka "worldly friends".

  i wish that as witnesses, we could've been better integrated with other people.

  I'm sure I would have graduated from college years ago instead of this summer. I've never dated because I never had a strong desire to (that was something "bad" people did). Probably I would have started voting sooner, and got involved in extracurricular activites. The WT negatively impacted not only me but also my community since it kept me from being a part of it.

  animals are truly a gift from jehovah as the creator of all things.

  animals have, since the creation, served as workers and companions for man.

  1. Cite every Biblical or historical account of non-Jews and/or non-Christians participating in the activity.
  
  2. If there are no records indicating that first-century Christians participated in this activity, say so. Otherwise, cite Prov. 4:18 (light gets brighter).
  
  3. Cite John 17:16 (no part of the world) and/or Matt. 24:45 (F&DS) as needed.
  
  Repeat process for each additional activity you wish to forbid.

  I've Decided That It'll Be Best For Me To Return To The Kingdom Hall.

  after carefully evaluating the my current life situation, i've come to the conclusion that returning to the hall will be best for me.

  i simply just don't fit in with the rest of the world.

  i don't drink, smoke, have sex, go to clubs, listen to worldly music, watch movies, or gamble.

  I enjoy an occassional beer/wine, never smoked, don't have sex, never gone to a club, do listen to worldly music (isn't all music other than the JW songbook worldly?), watch movies infrequently, and gambled once (one dollar, of which i lost five cents).

  I'm not real comfortable with most raunchy talk but that's OK because in the business world we generally aren't cursing a blue streak while talking about our sexual escapades. I imagine other industries are different, but the shirt-and-tie work world is probably a natural environment for an ex-JW.

  The WT brainwashed us for years that there are two choices: JWs or "the World." What they never told us is that the World comprises a countless number of individual subcultures, many of which are nothing like what the WT would have us believe. You just need to look around a bit for a more positive environment; it's out there, and the JWs ain't it.

  I believe you are simply misusing the word "deity." If you are allowing that the "source" may be impersonal, then "deity" may not be the proper term to use.

  sizemik: With your reference to Apollo . . . you appear to be saying the existence of a deity will be disproved one day . . . that is pure speculation and therefore "unscientific"

  There is no need to scientifically disprove the existence of such deities, since the very notion of their existence is unscientific to begin with and based wholly on assertion. That falls within the realm of superstition and religion. Science ought to have nothing to do with it except as it relates to psychology, anthropology, sociology, etc.-- not treating it as if it is a valid possibility for reality that must be considered.

  Essentially, the existence of Apollo and other deities is already "disproven" as much as will ever be possible, inasmuch as the claim was always unsupported by any evidence.

  Scientifically, there is still a tremendous allowance required for the "unknown" . . . but to believe in the existence of a deity (a source) is not unscientific in itself.

  Not true. If valid scientific reasoning leads us to the conclusion that there is an "unknown" as the source of the energy, it is not at all scientific to then believe in the existence of a diety as that source, any more than it was good science to attribute the rising of the sun to Apollo in the days before we understood the concept of the solar system.

  Throughout history, gaps in scientific knowledge have been filled in by "God did it." But God's habitat is being destroyed by scientific advance.

  as you may know, the watchtower society takes great pride in its district conventions.

  please contact me if you can attend any of these protests.. there is no reason why every district convention in the world could not have a protest and receive media coverage to expose the watchtower society.

  it is contradictory and unscientific.. hell; lets be honest it's hard to read and harder to understand.. so why is it called the good book?.

  Designs: I agree, the evolution of the society and the accompanying theology as reflected in the Bible is very interesting and historically important!

  TerraIncognita: Jg 1:19 is one of my all-time favorite humorous Bible verses.

  "The LORD was with the men of Judah. They took possession of the hill country, but they were unable to drive the people from the plains, because they had chariots fitted with iron."
