Book request, any takers?
by callitquits76 ini am looking for a copy of 'reasoning from the scriptures' .
also the isaiah book (was there 2?
) and if possible the nwt interlinear.

They still use that tiny brown book (Reasoning). I wish every JW would own and regularly reference the NWT interlinear. Use of that one book could very well enlighten a huge number of deceived JWs into realizing that even JW "scholars" do not agree with the English wording of the NWT. Good luck on your search.

Friend, a piece of general advice: look at your conscience, if it is screaming at you to be honest, then be honest without regret. Circumstances come and go all day long, but your conscience is there for a lifetime.

Ghost in my house?
by cognac inweirdest thing ever just happened.. my daughters toy started playing music by itself.
there was nothing around it that could have caused it to do that.
and it just happened 4 times in a row and then i called out to my husband and it just stopped.

Oh, I just know I am going to hate myself for asking, but, why do demons like to possess Tuperware (tell me it's the burping, please......)?

Well, we can count ghosts (the spirits of dead people) as out of the question, because dead believer spirits go to heaven to await judgment and dead unbeliever spirits go to hades to await judgment. That pretty much leaves demons or living humans.
I don't think demons are sitting in the dark snickering to each other waiting to prank unsuspecting humans with defective electronic toys. I mean really...their boss is Satan and he has this big agenda to destroy Israel, topple kingdoms, and overthrow God. I just don't think there would be time to be pranking humans..."hey Wormwood, still got that whoopy cushion...I need to borrow it...got this running prank going..."

hmmmm....I wonder what you would call a king who rules over all other kings????
and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and released us from our sins by His blood-- (Revelation 1:5)
Oh, I know! The King of Kings!!!! Since 33 A.D.

" *** w60 8/1 p. 462 'Creating New Heavens and a New Earth' *** In a time parallel, Jesus Christ was enthroned as King in heaven A.D. 1914. "
lol :)
Therefore Pilate said to Him, "So You are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice."(John 18:37)
Seems Jesus thought He was a king long before 1914...
"And so, because [David] was a prophet and knew that GOD HAD SWORN TO HIM WITH AN OATH TO SEAT one OF HIS DESCENDANTS ON HIS THRONE, he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that HE WAS NEITHER ABANDONED TO HADES, NOR DID His flesh SUFFER DECAY." (Acts 2:30-31)
Seems the prophet David thought the Christ would be enthroned as a king on the day of His resurrection...
1914...rofl

Why is it so hard for Ex-JWs to make that "final step" and give up Christianity?
by sabastious ini'm not sure if it's just denial on a lot of people's part, but the reason the jws doctrine is so wacky and controlling is because they are among the few religions that really try to follow the bible!.
the bible is the culprit here in actuality, but even after someone has "wizened up" to the misguided teachings of jehovah's witnesses they still hold the bible as inspired word of god.. why don't you believe that the governing body was chosen as the faithful and discreet slave in 1918?
because the only real evidence to that fact is that they say so.

To not a captive:
With great respect, I think I must disagree with a couple things in your post.
The "called out" refers to the "holy ones" (saints) being called out of the world, called out of darkness, called to freedom, and called out of sin to live to and for Christ (1 Peter 2:9, 5:10, 2 Timothy 1:9, Galatians 5:13, 1 Corinthians 7:22). By virtue of that calling it is a bit exclusive in so much as not everyone accepts the calling and so remains in darkness.
I also do not think that comfort and security are "needs" but rather are "desires." What we desire is not always what we need or should have.
Your post implies that people will sell truth for a deception if they think that deception will bring comfort. I rather doubt this is true for most Christians. Too many people have give up all comfort so as to serve Christ in the harshest and most terrifying conditions. Their motive? Love for Christ. I think that love is the most powerful of all the possible motives, as is responding to being shown love.
Blessings.

BluesBrother, thanks for posting that! Very informative.
I did not realize that such a significant part of the ceremony was dedicated to dissuading people from believing that they were part of the New Covenant ("New Testament ")!!!! To my mind it feels like an anti-religion. In Christianity we try to show people how the New Covenant covers them, not excludes them!
That was an eye opener!
And what is up with 1 2:1-2 allegedly showing "two destinies"? Does it not show that everyone, apostles, Jews, and Gentiles all share in the same identical forgiveness? Yes, that was a real eye-opener.
