long time lurker here.

i'm a fifth gen born-in baptized jw.

to say i've been struggling with doubts is an understatement.

Hang in there. My husband woke up along time before me. Keep reading (Steve Hassans book was great!) vent as needed on the forum ! Knowledge is power and remember some self care. The best revenge you can have is to live a happy and successful life.

been reading for about 2 and a half years, thought i would take the plunge and sign up.. my circumstances... i live in uk, serving as ms. i am fully awake.

i can not leave due to family, so just treating the meetings as a bit of a social club.

i would like to give out more details, but i think you all know the drill.. complete disillusionment and i suppose natural curiosity woke me up.. don't know what else to say right now, just hello, and i hope to get to know some of you guys better.

First thoughts on "new" meeting...

had a quick look at the workbook and flicked through the sample meeting video.. the increased use of video shows the trend for more centralised dissemination of "best practice" .

sure there isn't really a "school" any more and the format is a bit different but i think those that called it as the same old crap just in new package got it pretty much right.

or children being disiplined in the carpark! Or brothers with bad backs/migraines/pushing babies in strollers....any excuse to be out of the mind numbing/soul destroying dribble..... strolling around outside passing the time. Why not!

Remember when you could wear casual clothes to the congregation book study?

by RULES & REGULATIONS in

i would get home from work,eat dinner,shower and put on jeans,a shirt and gym shoes to the book study.

then,one day a letter was read where men would need to wear a suit and tie and the woman would have to wear dresses.

it was stated in a letter that the change was due to, '' giving a better witness to anyone who would watch us walking into our local congregation or a neighbor's house.''.

Always modest/modest/modest........................I think WT has a very deep distrust of women....what grown women needs some elder in a polyester suit to tell her to dress? Or are women or scheming Jezebels ready to seduce poor unsuspecting brothers at any time??? very Stepford wives........

we were instructed not to give public counsel to the students, but to use the two minutes alloted afterwards to supplement, from the aid book, the subject matter presented by the students.

the following information on jehovah's answering of prayer came to mind when replying to another thread moments ago.. doubtless, our viewpoint on this and other scriptural matters has taken on a new direction -- if any at all.

having worked on this bible dictionary while at bethel, i retain a fondness for it.

Compound Complex Thanks so much for sincere apologizes. We are all in the same boat. That organisation took advantage of our sincere desire to please Jehovah god (and men if we are honest) and we where controlled with distorted/unbiblical teachings. We appreciate being able to interact with fellow survivors who prove by their behavior on this site that they are far from mentally diseased, demonized persons not fit for the company of jehovahs witnesses (thank goodness). So gratefull that you use this forum to share your extensive knowledge (which is power) WT loss is our gain! It works toward a healing for my family so thank you for posting and continuing the good fight. Mustn't let all those years of theocratic ministry school training go to waste! thanks again!

After a prominent elder on a shepherding call opportunistically sexually assaulted our small child we protected him via the 2 witness rule. AID TO BIBLE UNDERSTANDING, "The Answering of Prayers," page 1331, paragraphs 2, 3 sound quite innocuous and put the onus on the publisher. Interesting that gods timetable of 12 years wasn't long enough for us to demonstrate the debt of our concern, intensity of motive. (completely emotionally shattered living on antidepressants knowing/waiting we would not be believed until another child was sexually assaulted) Heaven forbid we pressure Jehovah god into action to protect children in the congregation he evidently takes note of the extent of concern shown among his servants as a body(the local body of elders not too concerned he was there best mate),. We must be Too apathetic for Jehovah s clean organisation so reported to police and submitted to Australian Royal Commission.
