It's Friday! Let's Drink Some Whisk(e)y!! (Responsibly, Of Course)
by Low-Key Lysmith inas some of you know, i am employed as master of whisky for seattle (pac nw).
i represent diageo n america's whisk(e)y portfolio.. this includes: johnnie walker, the classic malts of scotland, bushmills irish whiskey, crown royal, bulleit bourbon and rye whiskey, george dickel tennessee whisky, and bucchanan's blended scotch whisky.. my job basically involves speaking publicly about the whiskies, hosting and presenting whisk(e)y tastings and dinners, and educating bar & restaurant staff about whisk(e)y. tough gig, i know.. my mow bio & pic can be found on crown royal's website here: http://www.crownroyal.com/west-masters/breck-taylor.
i was thinking about putting a featured whisky of the week up here every friday.

I bought a bottle of Tullamore Dew last weekend. I didn't really know what to expect but I must say that it's good stuff. Low-Key, do you drink it neat? Mix? If so what with?

Sparlock spotted in Taiwan
by Steve_C inno, not 'made in taiwan,' but actually in taiwan.. i thought you might enjoy some photos of yours truly engaging in heathen activities while wearing my new sparlock t-shirt.
i'm not really a taoist/buddhist, but sporting the warrior wizard shirt while burning incense in the temple made me feel like some kind of naughty double-apostate .
the one-hundred+ year-old wu fu ("five fortunes") temple, near my apartment.

I think that incorporating the MotoCross Des Nations into the Olympics would be a positive thing towards making the games less terrible.

Penn State pays for covering up Sandusky crimes, BIG TIME
by talesin inthis sends a clear message to other universities who may be harboring child molesters.. excerpt:.
the sanctions by the governing body of college sports, which capped eight months of turmoil on the central pennsylvania campus, stopped short of delivering the "death penalty" of shutting down the sport.
but the ncaa hit penn state with $60 million in fines, ordered it out of the postseason for four years, and will cap scholarships at 20 below the normal limit for four years.. other sanctions five years' probation, and the ncaa also said that any current or incoming football players are free to immediately transfer and compete at another school.. ncaa president mark emmert announced the staggering sanctions at a news conference in indianapolis.

I'm in the middle of reading the Freeh report. It's long and detailed, extremely detailed. So far what I've seen is that the guys like the A.D. and the University President were the ones who were the ringleaders of the coverup. I believe that they really tried to use Paterno as a scapegoat in the end. Don't get me wrong, Paterno was at least somewhat culpable but I think that his greatest error was trusting these people above him. I think that they deserve criminal prosecution at least as severe as Sandusky got.
Maybe I'm wrong but that's the feeling I get.
