I couldn't keep the Orthodox Vegan fasting for Lent. No dairy to bind the oxalates in all the soy products did a number on my stony kidneys. So I'm reverting back to Rastafari I guess. I just can't walk the walk of Orthodoxy. Now everybody thinks Rastafari is a cult. but it sure has the healing for the kidney problems caused by trying to keep Orthodox. Controversial beliefs and practices yes, top-down high control no. Now my wife is going to slander me, but its my life and my Rasta brethren were there before my marriage and they will be there after my marriage. I was a Rastafarian since 16 years old, converted to Ethiopian Orthodoxy in 2004, met and married my JW wife a couple years later, but never really renounced being a Rastafarian. 11 years later I just can't keep the discipline, spent all my money on vegetarian food I can't eat because of high oxalates, spent the rest of my money on the doctor. No money to go to church. But my Rasta brethren are always there for me. Thank God I don't need a Church and I don't need a Gang. All the Churches have gone astray JW especially which is why I bear the mark of a Nazarite. I want the world to call me a dirty dreadlock hippie, for the scorn of the world is a blessing from Jah that the JWs think they know but they really don't. -

new bethel application question are you a racist?
by poopie inwill the gb finally admit there is systemic racism at the highest levels of the organization.
-
SonoftheTrinity
There are two definitions of racism
1. An individual bigot
2. Someone who perpetuates hegemonic, especially European or national majority racial or ethnic privilege either actively or passively
Since most Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe in either changing the politics or the culture of this world, most of them, with the exception of a few bethelites working to preserve dying languages through Watchtower literature fall into the second category.

Please Focus on the Bible
by terrypike inhi people, may i firstly thank those who have responded to to my intro article, i am replying to you all as a new topic because the direct messaging is not working for me at the moment so i can clarify my perspective on bible study.
yes there are many arguments that are put forward to demonstrate for example that the bible has been composed of numerous preexisting creation story's ect, my focus is to give the bible the same opportunity to defend itself as anyone reasonably expects if charged with some crime they are not guilty of.. i find for example the account of jesus response when questioned about the divorce certificate 'but it was not so in the beginning' confirms that moses allowed changes to be made to the original, that said consider also the religious traditions moses people had been exposed to, the story of the god enki who seduced even his own grandchildren and the well known incest of the egyptian royalty, given the genetic cost, are such practices any more right now than they were then?
communities that practice close relative marriages today are well documented for there higher risk of numerous health problems so how would you find moses on that basis, guilty or not guilty as jesus did because he understood why moses took the creation story's of other cultures and gave his people there own creation story that taught them to avoid the general pagan practice of incest.before looking any deeper at moses creation story may i also ask the question why does jesus knowing that god promised he would never again destroy the world by a flood as he did in noah's day say 'as in the days of noah ..the flood came and took them all away' so what did jesus actually mean mt 24:.

As an Orthodox Tewahedo Christian I strongly advocate that you read the following books ; the entire Catholic Deuterocanon, 4 Baruch, Jubilees, and Enoch as well as the Pre-Nicene and Desert Fathers, St. Augustine (especially what he has to say concerning the literal interpretation of Genesis), St. John Chrysostom (though his Anti-Semitism is at times over the top) and just to nail the coffin on Eurocentrism, the Kebra Nagast. There is more to scripture than the 66 Books of the Bible, and when it is all taken into account, Biblical Literalism in the face of scientific evidence must perforce be taken with a grain of salt compared to Biblical Allegory. When the widest canon of scripture is adopted, biblical literalism is shown for what it is, a desperate attempt on the part of Protestant pastors to keep the flock dumbed down with the illusion of spiritual knowledge.
As for the Muslims, the Orthodox have a long history of conflict and coexistence with them, sometimes as the dominant religion, and at other times the minority religion. Western Christians would do well to study that history and endeavor not to repeat the mistakes of the past rather than blindly buying into apocalypticism and Christian Zionism.

Not to be too off topic but it might get you somewhere. Oddly enough Post-modernism is older than its name implies. Older than even Pontius Pilate. Google Anekantavada. Something about Jainism has always seemed more rational than even Buddhism much like how Judaism requires less faith than Christianity. -

How do Americans feel about Canadians and Britons interjecting their opinions onto hot localized political topics: gun laws, abortion, ect?
by adjusted knowledge inin addition to the above question, why do citizens of the two above mentioned countries, or other countries, feel the necessity to tell americans how they should interpret the american constitution for localized issues?.
i fairly much have an idea what the general population in the usa feels in regards to the first question.
this could be one of the possible reasons cnn piers morgan poor ratings and eventual firing.

As far as guns are concerned, Americans know the right to bear arms is protected by their constitution. And the Constitution is our God and King. Don't tell us how stupid our lax gun laws are until you've read our constitution and realize that it is conflated with our civil and human rights. Urban, Suburban, and Rural America don't understand each other and we have to work it out on our own and its going to take a thousand days and a thousand nights. I suspect British criticism is a natural reaction to America's pompous foreign policies. -

"Lets imitate faithful Lot of old...."
by stuckinarut2 ini know we have all discussed at length the account / story of lot.... another thought occurred to me today...lets analyse his real personality,.
in the very beginning of the account, lot is shown to be a selfish man...one that chose the better land and area..... then he was opportunistic and materialistic and kept living in a nice city, even though he was supposedly shocked by the immorality and lawlessness..... then we see him to be cowardly when he decided to send out his daughters to be pack raped.. later we learn he was heartless as he allowed his wife to turn around and look, and didnt protect her from doing so.. then we know he was lacking in self control and allowed himself to get drunk...twice.. then we know he was dismissive and unrestrained and a general sicko when he had sex with his daughters...twice in a row!.
oh, but no...lets all praise him for being a righteous man.????!!!.

Yeah lets isolate ourselves so much that we delude ourselves into thinking we are the last Godfearing people on the planet until we take leave of ourselves and become a bunch of inbreds. So that means the Jehovah's Witnesses aren't Spiritual Israelites, but Spiritual Moabites. They should call themselves Chemosh's Witnesses since they already sacrifice their Children and make them go through the fire of molestation, and compromised education. -

my 10 year old son is paying attention at the meetings
by user100 inthe public talk on sunday was about evolution.. my son pointed out flaws in the speakers arguments during and after the meeting... mostly about how animals aren't able to communicate etc.
he even brought up coco the ape that is able to communicate via sign.. i told him that i heard a ton of inconsistencies but i am afraid to say anything because your mom will get angry :).
im glad he is paying attention.. and the school system must be doing something right..

I am so proud that my eldest stepson has the dignity to selectively shut down when my wife begs the question and engages in logical fallacies during family bible interrogation. His precocity is subtle yet poignant.
