  Foreign Language Congregations

  are they stricter or laxer?

  i've read comments on this board that the spanish speaking congregations are stricter.

  somehow i imagine pacific islander congregations are laxer because they aren't as at odds with the culture.

Somehow I imagine Pacific Islander congregations are laxer because they aren't as at odds with the culture. My father-in-law seems like a more liberal elder who naïvely led his family in when he was young and tries to manage the craziness imposed from above and abroad.

  What's with the hijab?

  the hijab is one of a few headdresses worn by muslim women.

  from what i can tell, it is supposed to hide the femininity of the woman.

  because i'm sure as a muslim, it's going to all be the woman's fault if a man acts improperly due to attraction.. i don't agree with it, but hey, it's their religion and it doesn't hurt others, so have at it if you want to wear it.. let's face it.

  I think after 9-11 it became a political act. Just like my septugenarian doctor whose dad was Arab Muslim but was raised as an Irish-American Catholic by his Irish Catholic grandparents but got beat down after mouthing off at the cops and having the name Al (short for Allen) Hassan. Little did they know that he was both a decorated Marine who spent his life proving he was as American as anyone, and a Doctor and a Medical Lawyer. It took him 12 years but he got his pound of flesh from that city's coffers, and decided to grow a very Islamic looking beard after he realized an Arab is an Arab is an Arab in post 9-11 America.

  I keep on telling my stepkids that their mother is right, that they should pay attention in the meetings and that the more they pay attention, the more they will realize it is b.s. but if they passively accept it as the truth without thinking critically then they are already spiritually dead.

  March Broadcast- Jehovah is speeding up the work

  i watched some of the segments on the jw broadcast.

  in the video they showed how they managed their inventory orders for the congregations.

  at the conclusion it was stated by the narrator how god is speeding up the work.. the problem is the system they implemented has been used for over two decades in logistics.

  I have a feeling that in the next generation they are going to exploit "worldly education is evil" to develop their own accredited higher education (most likely some cheesy distance education) and then say all higher education except ours is forbidden. More control+More money=WTSuccess.

  Witness my fury, have you considered the higher criticism rejected by the fundamentalists? Or even deism?

  If Christ himself quoted "I have said ye are gods", and Christ is our King, is not the Kingdom of God among us even if there is no Almighty. Saying you are an atheist is like saying you are a vegan. Its a strong statement against the existence of God, without the humility of agnosticism.

  I am a Rastaman and I love the terrible name of Jehovah, but being married to a Jehovah's Witness is frustrating. It leads me to say things like "Fire Burn the Watchtower with Lightning and Brimstone!"

  I get so tired of people always bringing up "Black on Black" crime.

  i am responding to a post by someone the other day about a black girl beaten by a mob of other black teens for "acting too white.

  " the poster was trying to drive home the idea black people commit more crimes against themselves then white people do to them.

  while it is true some black people do insult other black people who they believe are trying to fit in with caucasian people, white people, hispanics, asians, and other races do the same exact thing to people in their ethnic group as well.

  Black on Black crime happens as does White on White crime. Black kids tend to beat up other black kids white kids tend to beat up other white kids. I think it would be a fun piece of satire for a Black guy to do various exposés about the White community, such as a white kids parents moving out of a beach community because the school was teaching the kids Valley/Surfer talk and not English, and then go to a Trailer park for an exposé on the epidemic of White on White crime.

  I know about this monk. He's a self hating Jewish convert to Russian Orthdoxy and an embarrassment to a lot of Russian Orthodox People. He's also a racist. He tries to vilify the Jews but what he is really doing is giving Holy Orthodoxy a bad name. He believes in all the old blood libels even though he was born a Jew. If he were my kin I would most definitely throw him a funeral and sit shiva for him. One thing about Orthodox Christians is that they have a long and painful relationship with Islam, one that makes them cautious about disrespecting Islam, totally pro-palestinian due to the existence of Palestinian Orthodox Christians, but at the same time ready to fight a religious war against the Muslims if that is what it comes down to. There is a lot that we can learn as both Christians and neighbors of Muslims from the Orthodox.
