Bit weird washing your house and working in the yard. Like you were trying to go out of your way to be anti-Christmas, like a JW might. It obviously made your neighbors uncomfortable. Next year just have a few beers, relax and put your feet up like normal people and treat it like a day of peace and rest and don't annoy your neighbours.

Watchtower August 2020 Are they introducing new light?
by Listener inthe latest watchtower is now out and they make this statement -.
7 during the thousand year rule of christ, all of jehovah’s earthly children will have to make changes to please him.
so all of them will have true fellow feeling as they help the resurrected ones to combat sinful tendencies and to live by jehovah’s standards.

and to live by Jehovah’s standards
Anyway how is it even possible that resurrected ones have sinful tendencies when they have already died from Adamic death and paid the price of inherited Adamic sin? "The wages of sin is death". Resurrection is not a birth from sinful parents. How can they be resurrected enjoying eternal life bodies during the 1000 year reign but still be sinning? It must mean all persons alive and their sinful offspring during the 1000 year reign are dying again, slowly like Adam and Eve were...which would require a ransom to be paid again!

What a sloppy, incoherent heading and opening thread. Have some personal pride in your writing for pitys sake.

JWs would say he was a spirit medium and its all to be avoided like the plague. Atheists would say its pure fiction and balderdash to make money from naive and gullible people.
There's dozens of authors who claim to have penned stuff from the spirit realm or some non-earthly entity, from Edgar Cayce to Ruth Montgomery to more modern, new age authors.

Watchtower attempts 997 mind trick segue to 1914
by Darth FayDehr infancy a mind trick?
here’s 2 for the price of 1; if you only want watchtower’s trick, skip to the next paragraph.
you may need to write this down or use a calculator:.

Very interesting indeed.
So here the WT has worked backwards from their fallacious 607BC/1914CE chronology to arrive at a contrived date with zero secular evidence for when some ancient event purportedly happened, in this case being:
"The Watchtower publication assumes: "The 390 years of Israel’s error evidently began in 997 B.C.E., the year that the 12-tribe kingdom was divided into two parts." "
So what do scholars and secular authorities say as to when the 12-tribe kingdom was divided?

JW's Would Stay With The Org Even If 1914 Was Dropped
by pale.emperor ini asked the question on quora: .
if the governing body abandoned the 1914 teaching, would you leave jehovah's witnesses or you would remain a member regardless?.

They'll never drop 1914, theres no need for them to drop it. But eventually they might just change the meaning of what happened in 1914. For example, they could reinterpret it to say the tree stump was only unbanded in 1914 and since then has been slowly regrowing and doesnt represent the ruling kingdom until fully regrown at the great tribulation. And just slide forward Jesus rule, the kingdom coming into power, etc, to occur at the great tribulation, while leaving 1914 as the time of unbanding only and beginning of the separation of the wheat from the weeds.
95% of JWs would swallow that hook line and sinker.

Universal sovereignty on trial
by Factfulness ini just had a thought of clarity regarding the jw explanation for this doctrine.
they explain that satan challenged god regarding his right to rule.
god failed to prove his right to rule.

Does moral goodness exist outside of God? Then God is not omnipotent and something greater than God exists that even He is subject too.
Does moral goodness derive from God? Then morality does not really exist apart from what God dictates. Morality is capricious, a product of Gods whim. Which creates the Euthyphro dilemma.

There's no need to overcomplicate it.
All thats needed is to understand two simple and profoundly liberating concepts:
Q. What does blood symbolize in the Bible?
A. It symbolizes the soul, the life, of the creature.
Q. In the Bible, the prohibition on blood always involved the death of a soul. Does a blood transfusion involve the death of a soul?
A. No, a blood transfusion does not involve the death of the soul giving the blood. There is no loss of life by the giver of blood, and so it has no symbolic value in Gods eyes. Therefore a blood transfusion is scriptually permissible.

God always intended to let us have sovereignty of our own destiny and rule ourselves, just like any normal parent wants their children to mature and be independent adults with sovereignty over their own lives. It was only a matter of time. If we were incapable of ruling ourselves and needed God to always rule over us, then we wouldn't be in God's image. Humankind would be like an intellectually disabled child that always needed its fathers basic help.
Satan merely brought the whole programme forward and successfully argued that humankind must learn morality the hard way, through it's own brutal experience. Jehovah knew this from the start and acceded.
This is why God is aloof and will never intervene. We are on its image and will achieve moral maturity eventually, albeit through the school of hard knocks.
