You shouldn't hang off every word of old dead cult leaders. Try to learn not to give a fu#k more, you'll feel heaps better.

where shall we go
by Sabin inyesterday i read something that hurt my heart.
at a talk given by a brother lyman swingle ( i apologize if i am stepping out of line by using this) he said "that if you leave the jw ( i find it difficult to refer to it as the truth now days) you may as well go jump off a bridge".
this i think is disgraceful talk to say to any body let alone an audience in which children are present.

How accurate is the Bible?
by WireRider inhow accurate is the bible?
the "compiled" version (council of nicaea) was not established for hundreds, or even thousands, of years after events happened.
stories were handed down generation to generation to generation before being written down.

Any thoughts on the real reasons for droppng the 'school"
by sparrowdown inmy thoughts are.
1. they want to avoid being made to comply with any laws that come with anything classed as a "school" especially a school with children enrolled.. 2. the mid-week meeting has been dying in the ass for years and needs a revival.
i predict happy -clappy-sing-a-longs to be included in the program.. anyone else have any thoughts ??

I'd like someone to post all the printed reasons given over the decades for why the theocratic misery school was so important. Then think about why that is now discarded.
The main justification was to train brothers to become good public speakers, like your local toastmasters club. It was meant to be an MS and elder producing factory.
But why continue to have a toastmasters style public speaker producing sausage factory when the number of public speakers needed will be drastically less when 50% of the kingdom halls are sold off and congregations will be combined with meetings held in bigger facilities (many more meetings will be in RENTED facilities like school halls, assemblies style - you heard it first from me)? And when talks will increasingly be by TV link up.
Anyway, the society knows that the best public speaking mostly comes naturally. It's a talent. You dont need to be 'schooled' in it (which all other churches know). You can learn the basics of confident public speaking in about 10 mins. There's loads of good tips instantly available online.

Looking at the pics of Warwick... I'm chocked.
by StephaneLaliberte ini am truly chocked and baffled by the number of volunteers they got for this project; especially in the states.
looking at one of their articles on the matter, they stated that a large portion of the printing work was delegated to other locations than ny, thus, they did not need as much space as they did in ny.
also, it was stated that operation cost in nyc were expensive.

What is going on
by Aleph infirst of all thank you for the nice welcoming messages i received !.
as you know they are reducing bethel families to the minimum, services etc...here s what i heard from 2 different sources (one from africa, one from europe).. - "official" reason given : "end is now, no more time to build, we all need to preach!"..
- all members are invited to go and support where the need is great in the congregations (not necessary their own), missionaries aren t sent back to their counties of origin.. - i have no info regarding huge kh building program...is it still on?

Expenditure is exceeding income so they are slashing costs and trimming the fat.
Donations have suddenly plummeted due to a post-2014 "100 year's and still no great tribulation " disconfirmation effect, made worse by the GBs utterly delusional "overlapping generation " insult to JWs intelligence.
More and more JWs are punishing the Watchtower silently through their wallets.

I went down in the first Round!
by John Aquila inthere is a visitor brother in town and from what ive been told, he has been a missionary for many years and they were having a get together for him.
i took my mom to that get-together yesterday and stayed for a few minutes.
i heard a group around a table with the visitor brother talking about how hard it was getting in the world with so many distractions and that many of the brothers were falling into the trap and leaving jehovahs organization.

I don't belive in any miracles or prophecies of the Bible, but there really is some completely inaccurate nonsense in the opening post. -

Does Anyone Still Believe in God?
by LaurenM indo any of you ex-jw's still believe in god?
even with the new rebranding/softening of this religion, i still don't see how people can believe in him.
the god of the old testimate is an angry murderer who approved rapes and slavery and killed thousands of men, women and children.

Chair tinkering on their sinking ship and a few new splashes of whitewash on their grave full of dead men's bones.
The revamped midweek meeting is still 1 hour 45mins. Hopelessly too long still but they just can't bear to dump the pointless' book study' as a sad hangover from the old home book study arrangement. What was once the most fun, brief and relaxed meeting (and scripturally correct per the first century mode) in people's homes was bastardised by being merged into a far too long and dull giant midweek meeting.
Although most JWs will privately rejoice at the long overdue dumping of the torturous and hated TMS, these latest changes will do absolutely nothing to boost rapidly falling mid week attendance. Probably make it worse.
Shows also they still don't give a shit about families with young children enduring such a long tedious borefest with the little ones not getting home to bed until well after 9pm.

Religious guilt and neurotic feelings can be hard to shed. I've found the only way to do it is to genuinely prove to yourself and accept that the Bible is not the' word of God' and there is no God of the Bible.
