What do you mean by 'both disorders'? I only see one as the topic of discussion: OCD?

A religion or OCPD?
by Xanthippe ini came across this paragraph about the causes of ocpd and it occurred to me that jws as a religion do reward ocpd traits.
they insist you adhere to rules and behaviours to the impairment of social and family activities.
perfectionism, strict moral code, lack of generosity.. so does this religion cause this personality disorder or does it recruit people who suffer from it?.

If a JW Came To Your Door How Would You Handle It?
by minimus injehovah's witnesses have never come to my door but they have come to my girlfriends door.
i have coached her as to what to say or ask but it appears that they always seem to come when she's not there.
.....just curious would you get into it with a jehovah's witness at your door especially if it was someone you did not know?.

Turn around, pull your pants down, and give them a moonie.
You can only reason with an unreasoning asshole by showing them what they are.

LEAKED Talk - Depression Is A Part Of This Life
by pale.emperor inanother leak from my collection of talks that i was ordered not to share.
an elder gave me a ton of talks from bethel and special assembleys to put on his ipod.
of course i copied them to my computer and will share them for all of us.. depression is a part of this life by brother nathan fuel.. this talk also touches on the subject of family members being disfellowshipped, feel depressed?

Their version of God will soon slaughter 99% of humankind at Armageddon, yet He is a God of love they are to unconditionally 'love'.
No wonder they are depressed. It's like being expected to love Hitler or Pol Pot.

JW Carts Cause Thousands to Start Studying!!!
by Drifting Away ini would love to know the stats of how many hours were spent, standing by a cart, or sitting at a local town fair with jw table tent set up, compared to the number of bible studies started that led to baptism since the inception of the carts.
anyone have any idea?
if i had to guess i would say thousands of hours pent standing by a cart, and maybe less then 5 that actually got baptized.
-

I literally have to hold myself back from expressing my contempt for these carts. They are utterly vomit inducing, contemptible, cult scum of the most wimpy, peddling variety imaginable.
Even the Hare Krishnas have the balls to say hello to you and try and engage you, unlike the wimps standing next to the JW carts.

by Nicholaus Kopernicus inthe brief outline for this item makes reference to the most recent wt on the subject of "reaching out" (august 2016 - pages 20 - 29) if you are a jehovah's witness and thinking about becoming a ministerial servant or elder, then please consider the following information prior to attending the kh for this week’s wt “study” and the week after.
first - if you hope to become an elder, in the uk you will also become a charitable trustee.
you will not be given any training for this part of your role.

Elders and wannabe elders: run for your lives from this soul-sucking, exploitative, nasty little religion you somehow ended up in, through your gullible parents or whatever. Take your family and get outta there.

Who has the authority to decern what the bible really teaches?
by TTWSYF inso i ask because of all the books, mags and testimonies that the wts promotes.
not only the wts, but many other christians attempt to speak about the bible with authority.
how do we measure who is an authority if we don't know that much?.
-
fukitol
You should have spelt 'discern' correctly in your OP, then the average JW lurker might show you some initial respect. Lazy and sloppy.
Otherwise, I agree 100% with Cofty's post.

YOU are bound to be like God, KNOWING good and bad.
by nicolaou inlet's assume god decides what is good and bad.
does he (a) decide what is good because it is obviously good or (b) is it good simply because he says so?.
if (a) god has no choice in what is good.

This is called the Euthyphro Dilemma, which refutes Divine Command Theory.

Three reasons why the disfellowshipping docrine is worse than the hell fire doctrine.
by aboveusonlysky in1 - it has far less scriptural support.. let's face it both doctrines are designed to scare people into giving their time and money to a religion but those that teach hell fire can at least point to a number of bible verses that talk about fire and death/punishment together, whereas shunning is justified by one single verse that is simply saying don't give your blessing to the antichrist.
2 - emotional pain is generally worse than physical pain.. ask anyone who is grieving or on the wrong end of an unfaithful partner which they would rather have.
would you rather your wife, child or best friend died while still loving you or shunned you while alive?.

Pretty ridiculous but at least you got no.3 right.
