I just started a thread about this here.
It incudes a description of my phone call to the media department. I didn't notice this thread until after I posted mine.

jw-media.org is strangely silent about the candace conti case.
they haven't said anything about it as of the time of this post.. i decided to call the media department at this number (718) 560-5600. i identified myself as a researcher who also has some websites.
i was asked for the web address of my website.

I decided to call the media department at this number (718) 560-5600. I identified myself as a researcher who also has some websites. I was asked for the web address of my website. I replied that I wasn't willing to provide that and then explained that I was only looking for a public statement about the Candace Conti case. I told him that I checked the jw-media.org website and couldn't find anything. I was told that there wasn't a statement. I asked if there are any plans to put a statement on the site in the future. He said "no". I then asked if he is able to provide a statement for people who call in like me. He said "thank you" and hung up.
I was surprised at how abrupt he was. I have called previously and the people I talked to were generally polite, even though I asked some difficult questions.
Of course, I'm only one person. You may want to call too and see if they treat you the same way.
It appears that they are going to keep silent about this issue for the near future at least. I wonder if they realize how guilty that makes them look.
here is the article http://www.newstatesman.com/blogs/world-affairs/2012/06/secrets-and-lies-have-no-place-when-dealing-child-abuse.
here are some quotes.. "jim mccabe, a lawyer for the jehovah's witness congregation, said that they plan to appeal the decision, contending that kendrick was just a member of the north fremont congregation, not a leader or pastor.
he said: "this is a tragic case where a member of a religious group has brought liability on the group for actions he alone may have taken."".
Thanks Cedars for helping to get the errors corrected. It's a great article. I would hate to see the Witnesses complain about preventable factual errors.
i am stunned by candace's huge court victory.
it is overdue.
i have been reading comments on jvn, huffington, san jose mercury, nbc, and other sources.
It's good to hear that this news is having an effect on some at least. Many will blame the Governing Body, even if they remain loyal to the religion.
i know, another sparlock thread.
but i just have to express this!
i am so proud of what we have done with sparlock.. youtube is being flooded with videos.
I'm proud of how we have handled Sparlock, but even prouder of how we have handled the Candace Conti case. The media coverage is unprecedented.
I think Sparlock helped to unite the xjw community at a crucial time. It helped us to be better able to bring attention to the Conti case.

"Accordin' to the Organized to do Jehovah's will book on page 78
Baptised witnesses are Ordained Ministers, How he gonna beat that ????????"
I've been trying to bring that out in some comments. Kendrick was an ordained minister who represented the Watchtower Society while going from dood to door. Of course they are going to be liable if they know he is dangerous and do nothing.
Most religions only have one minister per congregation. Jehovah's Witnesses have dozens. Their legal exposure is astronomical.

I recently saw these comments on Twitter.
"It's a hard knock life for Jehovah's Witnesses."
"Pop up ads are the Jehovah's Witnesses of the Internet."

Here are some quotes.
"Jim McCabe, a lawyer for the Jehovah's Witness congregation, said that they plan to appeal the decision, contending that Kendrick was just a member of the North Fremont congregation, not a leader or pastor. He said: "This is a tragic case where a member of a religious group has brought liability on the group for actions he alone may have taken.""
This has been mentioned in dozens of other news article, generally without any comment. However, this article had this to say as a response.
"Had the secrecy around Kendrick's 2004 conviction not been put in place, that might have been a semi-valid point - demonising a whole faith and community because of individual incidents is absolutely not what this is about. That said, it's the idea that a church-wide policy enforced the silence that is so disturbing. Traumatic as this case will certainly have been for many involved, part of me can't help hoping that it sets a precedent and we see many more like it come to light, until every institution, religious or otherwise, understands that hiding things like this is much, much worse than exposing them - for everyone."
