  i'm sorely tempted to picket the 2008 memorial.

  i will go in disguise and carry a placard with the words :-.

  "the governing body of jehovah's witnesses are false prophets.

  I would like to do this, but I am concerned with the cost benefit analysis. I'm sure it might help some while reinforcing the stereo types of others. The question is whether it would do more harm than good. I think it could be mostly beneficial if care it taken to be peaceful and thought provoking without appearing to attack the members. I think it could be very beneficial to passersby and people who are coming for the first time. It might also be encouraging to faders. If I do it, I would probably choose a hall on a busy street. It might also be worth following up with sign waving for a few Sundays afterwards. They might start reading the signs after the shock wears off.

  I've gone through a ton of these getting videos for my video blog http://jehovahswitnessesvideo.blogspot.com/ There are a lot of good apostate videos. There are also a lot by Witnesses, but most of them are just videos of assemblies, branch offices, people playing kingdom melodies on their guitar, etc. There are a fair number of spoofs by people who know almost nothing about Jehovah's Witnesses. Many are just of people talking for or against the witnesses. There are also a good number of videos by people who are trying to promote their own non JW theological perspective. I would say that only about 10-15% are worth watching and I hope to have most of these posted on my blog within a few months.

  Jehovah's Witnesses: Disassociation and Lawsuits, I have a question!!

  many of you who have or had been jehovahs witnesses for sometime will remember that back before say 1980 or so, the congregation could disassociate an unbaptized person and that person was treated as disfellowshipped.

  that happened a lot, pre 1980.. .

  for example, as a teenager in the 60s, several of the teenagers in my cong were disassociated and treated as disfellowshipped .

  Thanks for bringing this up. I think it could be relevant for a case against the WTS for institutionally enforced shunning. The WTS could claim that you agreed to be bound to their disciplinary practices when you got baptised. However, there was a time when people born into the religion could be shunned either way. I was a minor when I was baptised and it was simply a dedication to God. It was before the baptism questions changed to indicate dedication to an organisation. It can't be viewed as an agreement to be subject to their disciplinary practices, because that was already the case, at that time, simply because of the family I was born into.

  Would JW's would crash planes into buildings if the Society said to?

  i asked the three elders who disfelowshipped me this question.. basically,they replied, "the society would never tell them to do that".

  thats not my question.

  if they told you to, would you?.

  I think they would have to first take their mind control in a different direction, but I think it would be entirely possible to get some of their members to take extreme action like this.

  What gives us the right to question other's religion?

  i recently wrote an article about mormonism for a local rag that got rejected, it was concerning mitt romney,and his belief in the mormon faith.

  i wrote it because many people were saying that we have no right to question another's faith in our local newspaper... i said that we in fact do have that right whenever that person is running for president..... my article stated in so many words, that mormonism has been totally refuted both by the scientific community (dna, no ties with istreal and the natives here in the states) and by many of smith's previous actions in his early life... he used seeing stones once before and was arrested for fraud... i said that romney was showing by his religious beliefs that he was illogical, and someone like that shouldn't be president... what got the story booted was when i started in on christianity.. now, don't get me wrong here, i love some of christ's teachings, but if someone is a fundlementalist, then they shouldn't be president either in my mind... .

  so, where do you guys draw the line in your personal lives, when do you feel its appropiate to question someone elses religion?.
