  Is Copper theft on the rise in your area ??

  it has become unreal in our small hick town.

  people are ripping out water lines in new homes before they are even finished, contractors are losing their minds.... our house has a walk out basement, garage combo with two huge windows.

  all our water lines are copper and visible thru the windows... we're afraid we'll come home one day and they'll all be gone.... air conditioners have become a prime target.

  Why I will NEVER be an elder again

  so the po confirmed what many on this board already know.

  at latest round of co to elders meeting, the co quoted from the society outline.

  any elder or ms who encourages college for his kids or others or who allows his children to go to college will no longer qualify.. he then asked if i was going to take the cos encouragement and reach out again to be an elder and get my hours on the ministry up.. i replied "i will never be an elder again - i strongly approve of further education and college and have been through college myself.

  I understand it isn't an instant removal for having children at college, but rather that it is not to be promoted. So an elder can send his kids to college, but if he weaves this into his next public talk then that's a no-no.

  This sounds different from the original post made by Stilla.I wonder if the ones who were relaying the information in the above quote were trying to water things down ?

  From what's been said so far it definitely sounds like they don't even want an Elder or MS to even allow their kids to attend college.

  They really are NUTTY , aren't they ? Of course, we already know the answer to that ! I have to say, it really is crazy though.To remove elders because they want their kids to have an education clearly shows what an incredibly high control group they are.....and it's obviously getting worse.I also thought is was interesting that they said if he even ALLOWS his kid to go to college.I guess they want him to tie the kid down or kick them out.Just nuts !!!

  Going back, even for a party, was kinda traumatic...

  my mom called last week to tell me that i'd been invited to the high school graduation party of two girls from my former congregation.

  i went because these weren't just any girls; they'd been more like little sisters to me, best friends, right up until i purposely drifted away from the jws in 2003 {my brief jw bio: i started going to the hall with my re-instated mom when i was about 6 years old; i got baptized at her urging when i was 14, on septermber 1, 1991; i was a bible-loving, whole-hearted witness youth until age 25; then i left after a year of "apostate" reading at 26, attending my last meeting at a district convention on september 1, 2003; i've only been back for 1 memorial, and about 5 other times to visit family members or old "friends" at their various halls.

  } so yesterday i attended the party (at a seafood restaurant), bringing my wonderful "worldly" husband of 2 years, and his mom, with me.

  Self -Employed or Otherwise Gainfully Employed - Gas Prices Eating You Up?

  last night at the gas pump i had a verbal , emotional outburst , swearing to no one in particular - just the gas pump , until i saw 2 guys at the island down from me - so i figured i'd let it rip !

  frustration over these insanely rising gas prices finally took it's toll on even -keeled mr. flipper !

  i started my rant , wanting these guys feedback , " what is it with these #ucking gas prices ?

  The Blue Collar/Poor article posted by PrimateDave is one of the most offensive and flat out ignorant articles I've ever read.In fact, it's so utterly far off that mark that it's almost a parody.It's so full of errors, assumptions and insults that it seems designed simply to create controversy and draw attention to the one who wrote it.

  Since when does Blue Collar=Poor ? Just because someone is poor doesn't mean they have no idea how things work. Essentially, the article seems to say: "I sure am glad I'm not a stupid blue collar worker ! " What it really proves is : Any completely biased dumbass can have a blog.
