My Life as a 'Famous' Jehovah's Witness
by united states of nothing injust let me start out by saying i am unable to give certain details of my life as i have learned very quickly this can cause a lot of problems.
i was born into the 'truth' as my mother had been studying with a few sisters on and off at a local congregation.
my father was never a jw and came in and out of my life for many years..to this day i do not give him much time.

Where have you turned to?
by Robert7 ini am very curious, since i am myself trying to figure out where to turn to, if anywhwere.
(i am still debating if i am truly an atheist at heart and religion in general turns me off at least as of now) where have you turned to since you left the wt?
i would imagine that many people who became witnesses had spiritual needs (which is ironic why i am feeling atheist, lol) but have you gone to other churches, stopped going to church, become atheist, etc?

I'm not desperate to find a religion but if something came up that interested me I'd look into it.

Questions about the Jehovah's Witness beliefs.
by Renegade infirst off, (these are in no particular order) i would like to make a point about the ransom.
jesus made a prayer to jehovah saying "take this cup away from me.
" the witnesses interpret this as jesus not wanting to blaspheme jehovah's name.

Uh ranger, you're wrong if you think I actually think humans are pathetic. I was being sarcastic by making fun of the way witnesses degrade the human race. So you're the fool to tell you the truth. And Hortensia, I meant what are your opinions on the matter, although it probably is fiction I'm interested to know what everyone thinks about it.

By the way, this isn't intended to offend any witnesses or anything, I just don't believe these things make much sense.

First off, (these are in no particular order) I would like to make a point about the ransom. Jesus made a prayer to Jehovah saying "Take this cup away from me." The witnesses interpret this as jesus not wanting to blaspheme Jehovah's name. But the more reasonable interpretation is "Do not make me do this." So his great, kind and merciful Father chose to ignore his son's plea and go along with his bloody, and painful execution regardless. What does this say to you? How can people actually believe he loves us more than anything in the world, although he left his scared and loyal son to die a painful death?
I also disagree with the fact that he change the languages of the people who attempted to build the tower of Babel. Now, us being the pathetic, emotionally incapable morons that we are, apparently couldn't do this. So why did he change the languages of the builders? Because they were working together. They were building something that downright proved that the "Almighty" was wrong. Lets put this into another context. Witnesses make this illustration of a boy claiming that what his teacher said was incorrect, so the teacher gave him the chalk to prove him wrong. But, what they forgot to include the part where the boy turned out correct so the teacher snatched the chalk off him scribbled all over the blackboard and said "Ha! Told you so!"
I've got other queries about the beliefs of the witnesses, but I'll save them for a later thread as not to bore you all.

JW's in Coffee Shop Using ME as a Lesson to their Children
by Good Girl or Bad Girl? ini am sort of shocked and wonder if i pulled this same kind of sh*t as a witness.
i already know jw's believe they are better than everyone else, what with being god's only chosen people and all that.. well, i am sitting at my table, minding my own business.
there is a group of six jw's at the next table, three adults, three kids.

No, no, no. They were actually offended by the "be what you are". Isn't it obvious? They hate free will.

No natural affection
by Renegade ini find it strange that the witnesses often rant about natural affection.
but the thing is, when people are disfellowshipped, in most cases the persons family cut off any contact with them, they stray to the other side of the road when they see them etc.
now, this must mean that a witness family only loves you for your behaviour not for who you are.

Oh yeah, I absolutely hate it when they guilt trip you into going! They always say "These noble people are willing to die for the truth!"
Well I'm flipping well not, I'll tell you that! I don't see any point in dying for a cause that hardly makes any sense.
