i started reading "apostate" books when i was a teen at the library.
it was more curiousity than anything else.
at home, i used to read all the old publications and i'd notice how beliefs had changed.. with ray franz's books that i read clandestinely, i started to realize the truth about "the truth".

And a very MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you! I'm just sitting watching TV while the Turkey and Ham are in the final stages of cooking. Waiting for the rest of what little family will be here( that celebrate that is). What a sad state of affairs it is when so many miss out on a lovely way to spend a day. Enjoying the family and each others' company is my important to me as I grow older. I truly appreciate every opportunity I have to be with my sons. However, they won't be with me today, neither will my 5 year old grandson. Shame........

Personal expierence speaking here. I live in the heart of GM country. Between Detroit and Flint, Mich. I worked for 2 years in a GM plant. Just about vereything spoken about by Mr. Knox is true. There have been militant factions of the UAW that have always pushed the envelope with the Big 3. Demand after demand. The unions served their purpose decades ago and for that many workers can be greatful. However, what with equal opportunity laws and the like, they have long out lived themselves. They are now reaping the rewards of too much over paid overtime. The cabin up north, the home in Florida, the boats, snowmobiles, etc. Need I go on?
Don't get me wrong. I make my living servicing the automotive aftermarket and believe me, what is happening in the industry is killing me and hundreds of thousand more JUST LIKE ME!! I don't like the UAW and I didn't appreciate the ignorance with which Gettlefinger opened his mouth before congress. He is uneducated as regards the inner workings of the Corp end of the Big 3 and is only out for HIMSELF!! His membership numbers have been in decline for years and it's only a matter of time before the unions are busted by the gov't. I have been saying this for 25 years. It all began when they quit making Pontiacs in Pontiac, Mich. They had a militant faction of UAW there and GM closed down the plants. It's not going to stop, believe me. I was there. I still am here. I only hope that the industry survives in some form to save the many folks like myself that invested their lives in the after market.

the holidays are a time when some people get depressed and commit suicide.
has any one in there congration commited suicide and what was the reacion by the other members.
back in the 70's a young sister in our hall had been df'd. Shortly thereafter she commited suicide. The reaction? Oh, well she won't be resurrected.
Sad thing about it, she was a very sweet kid, about 19 I believe. Very strong jw family. Long lineage . Extended aunts, uncles, cousins, grand parents. 3 cousins gone off to Bethel,great grand father partook for years.
I secretly blamed the elders, even way back then. They should not have df'd her. I knew the details of the committee, she was remorseful. Old school asshole elders is all.

i live ina cold area where meetings are canceled from time to time.
i find it very funny that even the most "faithful" dubs sit in anticipation by the phone waiting for the call that the mtg has been canceled.
you would think that they would be disappointed since one of their meals is being cut off ( or one of their fingers as the old illustration goes )
In the halls that I had attended it was pretty much understood that if the weather was TOO bad, stay home and be safe. Your call, not theirs. Unless of course you DID get a call to cancel. Just good old worldly COMMON SENSE!!!

this wil be my younger son, 30. my new bride and myself have been celebrating christmas now for 5 years.
when we got married she told me that her friends called her mrs. christmas.
i soon found out why when we started to move her in the house.
Burn.......Savour your moments with him while he's young, they are ever so precious and too soon he's a man. As a jw I wasted too many hours in fruitless endeavours with mine. Now, I have to undo all of that, what a pity, eh? Yes, I am sad over that, it's obvious I know. I also know that I am not alone as I share in the many posts of those like me. Ah, yes CoCo.....Like yourself I too have my moments of jw punnery. I love it my friend. However after much thought I have as you suggested let the day lead it where it may. Normally, I am not a confrontational person. Never have been, but when the situation lends itself, I will raise my hand to comment. As you know I have been treating him with tenderness as I have been re-nurturing the relationship after his mother and my divorce.
