10/15/11 WT Has The Crackdown On Football Started?
by yourmomma ini've always felt that its only a matter of time before the watchtower cracks down on football (american, although soccer seems like its also referenced).
its been one of the few things jw's can do, which means it has slipped under the radar since as we know, there are very few things that are not frowned upon or banned in watchtower world.
we know that almost 99% of movies are wrong according to the standards of the watchower, and this is again mentioned in this article, but it seems like also football is in the cross hairs.

were you made to feel guilty if you missed a meeting / service ?
by man in black ingoing along with the last thread ( great subject matter) .
i'm sort of hitching along here.. we had a bookstudy at our home for several years, every week we were prepared, and we handled service arraingements every saturday morning, even with two young children.. one saturday morning, ( in the middle of winter) one son had a bad cold, and our furnace konked out around 8:15 am.. i was running around trying to get ready for service, calling a repair man, and help my wife get ready for service.. the group comes in at 9:00, and i'm on the phone talking to the repair man who wants to come out between 10-2.. so i'm not going out this morning, and i'm staying home with my sick son, wife and son #2 are going out in service.. conductor comes downstairs and looks at the furnace ( he is a school teacher, no mechanical experience at all, check out my earlier thread video under friends, page 5827 titled "elder makes a video,,,, this is the same guy ) and gives me the classic guilt trip because i'm not going out in service for at least an hour this morning.. i remember thinking just who is this guy, trying to make me feel bad because my family is #1, service is not my focus today.. after all of these years, i cannot help but think of this comment now :.
"nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent", e. roosevelt.

Seemed like the last 5-7 years (post 2000) I was a JW there was an almost fanactical importance placed on meetings. In the mid 90's at me previous hall, if you missed a meeting once in a while no one really said anything. But at the last hall I was at not only did they make a big deal out of it, but there were many times I was told I was "missed" when I was AT the friggin meeting!! Not only that, when I would point that out, they would make an issue of my commenting or "reaching out" and act like if I was not SEEN it didnt count. So my wife and I were really struggling to make meetings with our work schedules, and once it got to the point that even making the meetings wasent enough, and they still counted absence when we were there, we were just like "fu*k this, this is crazy".
the other crazy thing is it go to the point where there was NO REASON to miss. My wife was on the phone with her boss like 40 mins before the meeting and she noticed she was acting really odd, her speach was slurred and she wasent making any sense. Turns out she was having a minor stroke and passes out. So my wife and I drive over there and find this woman passed out, with her 3 year old just standing there. No one else is in the house. So we call 911 and stay with the child, etc.
Anyway this caused us to miss the meeting, so when we were at the next meeting, explaining this to an elder, he acted as if what we did was wrong and we still should have made the meeting, and this woman was worldly and the police could have handled the situation.
It was at this point where I just commented to my wife on the way home "sometimes the people in this religion are like cult members". Of course little did I know at the time, I was right smack in the middle of a friggin cult. LOL!

The statement is as follows:
"There is no clergy for Jehovah's Witnesses, which allows for different viewpoints at meetings."
LOL! Yeah right!!

More on Saturday's drama: Endo-symbiotic theory mentioned not once but twice
by sir82 ini don't want to give a full synopsis of saturday's drama, for fear of inducing stupor among this thread's readers, but.... .
the drama deals with a jw family with 3 kids, 2 of whom are in various stages of rebellion against all things jw.. the older brother is one of the "rebels", while the younger brother is a thoroughly annoying piece of brown-nosing crapola, completely buying into the jw mindset.. anyways, the younger brother is asking the older brother about why he doesn't want to attend the family study any more.. the older kid's rambling answer touches on something along the lines of "i'm learning things in school about how life really came here.
it's not as simple as you think!".

Lakers Kobe Bryant -- blood procedure puts him at DF risk?
by FatFreek 2005 init may be a month old news but we're just hearing it.
citing four unidentified sources familiar with the situation, the los angeles times on friday reported that the lakers superstar had a procedure about a month ago that is a derivation of platelet-rich plasma therapy.
prp procedures are less invasive than many surgeries involving the knee.

You cannot win back to back world championships and not pass the ball to your teamates. Whoever makes those comments is living in 2006 when that was true of him, but since 2007-2008 Kobe doesnt play like Iverson anymore. I mean I know people hate Kobe, but come on, you cant be serious with that one.

The Watchtower Mindset: Murder Will Solve Everything
by Eiben Scrood ini was on facebook snooping on a former "friend" still stuck in the cult and he recently posted the following:.
"yeah i was looking at them [kids lighting firecrackers] out my window last night.
i was thinking, these people are so ignorant.

during my last few years i would hear more and more comments like this. this elders wife at the book study was saying that she hates when unruly children come into her store and she CANNOT WAIT until Jehovah kills them at armegeddon. My mouth dropped, and what was even more shocking was everyone's reaction was agreement. its madness.

viewing porn makes you demonised!
by highdose inor so claims every jw i've ever met.
porn also makes you turn into a sexual deviant who is likely to become a homosexual, rapist or peadofile.. .
porn has specail powers that once viewed allows the demons to get into your mind and start controling it!!.

I remember that whole thing as a kid "porn" or "masterbation leads to homosexuality". And I remember thinking "How in the world would that make me a homosexual?" I couldnt imagine what would happen to make me all of a sudden want to be gay. But its from the "faithful slave" so it has to be true. LOL Once I got older I realized that whoever wrote that is a nut, or maybe (and it seems like this is the case with alot of homophobes) maybe the person who wrote that was dealing with their own homosexual feelings. Its sad that there are alot of people inside the watchtower who are gay, and think their feelings are bad or defiling. I mean there are some people who are gay who stay in the watchtower for life. thats sad.

For me in my area we used to do a ton of get togethers, basketball games, video game tournaments, etc. But in the late 90s is when I noticed the society cracking down hard. By the early 2000's almost every type of gathering was forbidden, except very small ones where a brother takes the lead and runs it like a meeting and controls what everyone talks about etc. Now, there were still small factions of young kids that did stuff together but they kept it on the DL.
It got to a point where one by one every type of gathering was picked off. If they said no large gathering, the kids would try small gatherings, when they did that, they complained about the activity or entertaintment, or the frequency. Somehow it became an issue to get together more than once a month. Then the kids would get together and play halo, then that was forbidden. So then they played mario kart, and then the game itself wasent the issue, it was the fact they were playing video games for too long. Then they would get together and watch football, then that was an issue because of how long the football games lasted. It was crazy, it got to a point where they just stopped and kids left.
Now there are 2 groups, one group of young kids that do not do anything and obey orders, and there is this other group that just says "fuck it", and has huge gatherings with drinking. They literally ignore anything the elders say, and whats funny is they at least for now are getting away with it. These kids are going to leave once they turn an age old enough to live on their own.
