  Those stories were never truly substantiated. And, on the off chance that those stories are true, it still doesn't give you, or anyone else the right to classify an entire group of human beings as trash or animals. You're condemning them all because of the bad actions of a few. You don't know each and every person who lives there. Who are you to judge? And where are these people going to go? They have the right to affordable housing. We all do. Not every one who lives in a depressed area is a n'er-do-well. Please try to remember that.

  Newb Introduction....

  i'd like to formally introduce myself to everyone here,as the title,and my post count reflects...i'm new around here although i think i may have stumbled across the site sometime before i decided to stop going down there at all,because it looks very familiar,i could have sworn i read an article about jw's real involvement in the holocaust on here at some time.

  i've seen some very interesting topics hereabouts,as well as point of views,just wish i would have found you guys sooner so that i could have avoided that whole "thing" down there.

  but anyways,this is my formal "hello" to everyone,and hope we can be friends.

  Apostate Bible studies?

  i've had this idea for a few days, just mulling how to flesh it out if you will.

  it may not be a new idea, but i'll try to get it out coherently.. lets say there is a guy, he's a jw but has been surfing the net and knows now that the wts is bogus.

  he can't just leave, he has family-wife and young children who are in the borg.

  Excellent idea! I think that this would be a most effective strategy to combat the insidiousness of the WTS. We could have a network of apostate Bible students across the country! It could only be undertaken by the staunchest most anti-Borg ex-JWs, preferably singles or childless couples (or at least couples with adult children). Think about it guys -- we'd be helping to deliver a family from the clutches of the Borg! Instead of being Dubs, we'll be DABS (Darkuncle's Apostate Bible Students)! It could work!

  Underage Apostates

  i told my parents that do not want anything to do with jw's when i was 15, i stopped going to meeting (not that i was really going anyway), stopped going to assembly, even stopped the memorial.

  at first it was guilt trips, crying, the whole what did we do wrong why are you doing this.

  then the threats started, i will pull you out of public school and get rid of all your worldly friends that are a bad association, then it was well if you want to act like an adult then all you get is room and one meal a day we do not support those who turn their backs on jehovah.

  I have noticed in my brief life that parents are ever so quick to quote Ephesians 6: 2, 3 ("Honor your mother and father...that it may go well with you..."), but no one ever seems to read the verse immediately following: 'And you, fathers, do not be irritating (or provoking to wrath) your children'. The Bible shows that all relationships are to be founded on a equal footing of mutual love and respect. The only imbalanced relationship is that of God and Jesus toward us. Their love will always be the greater.

  from about 10 am (south african time) tomorrow - i won't be on the forum....for 2 weeks, i am going to miss this place!!!!

  there have been some fantastic topics, getting to know a few on here a little better.

  if i get to me mums' laptop i may pop in for a post or two.. i don't have a pee cee at home (i have refused to buy one because i'd sit on it 24/7).. so to all who do the vigil - i will be with you each tuesday praying for strength and wellness for each of you.. i wish you all an excellent christmas and new year - have an absolute blast..

  we all know the majority of the society's elders are absolutely useless when it comes to dealing with family matters and as i was sat here reading a number of posts it suddenly occurred to me that watchtower may have started to speed up its own demise.. before i exited my old congregation a young elder was appointed.

  he was married without children (they don't want any).

  after i exited i heard of another young elder who was appointed (they, too, have no children and i don't think they want any either).. the service overseer was a young elder (a right big head and son of the p.o.).

  Not just elders, dear Ian. If the WTS were truly aware of the problem, they would have the rank and file rear large families like the Mormons.

  I cannot count how many sisters in my age group that I have met who had their tubes tied, or brothers who had vasectomies (info which was related to me by their wives, of course). I remember a conversation that I had with one particular sister. I was becoming ill, and had begun taking medications to control my illness, still my husband and I wanted children nonetheless, and we were worried about any possible side effects my medication would have on any future pregnancy. I never forgot her reply:

  "Well, that's nice, but if you don't have them now, you could always have them later -- in the new system."

  I am sure that she meant well -- she was an elders' wife, very sweet, and not at all standoffish, as quite a few of them are. But that just shows how much the Borgs' mind control affects even decent people. And I agree that precious few of them fully realize the consequences of such actions. There were also a few sisters that thought that my wish to have a family was selfish; I was not putting Jehovah ahead of my base, physical desires. Excuse me? How could the desire for children be selfish? I thought it was a divine commandment (Genesis 1:28). This is a method of control that the Society has trotted out again (Rutherfords' 3rd Armageddon during WWII), and again (Knorrs' 1975 Armageddon). There is this unwritten rule that you should sacrifice even the God-given gift of procreation upon the idolatrous altar that is the WatchTower Society. It would be nice if the younger couples could talk to some of the childless older couples that regret listening to the asinine drivel that came from this most false of prophets.

  Oh wait -- they cannot. Either those older ones are dead, having sadly spent their lives in vain, or fled the Society without looking back, or are still there, effectively muzzled, because we all know that the WTS will let nothing interfere in its display of 'godly devotion' -- even if means persecuting elderly people who have dedicated their whole lives to what they thought was sacred service, but in reality were servicing only the wallets and egos of the ungodly men in Brooklyn.

  i don't know about the rest of you more seasoned posters here, but i believe jwd is really becoming a welcoming haven for people leaving the jehovah's witnesses , and we are really seeing some great quality posters among newbies coming on the board.

  so, i just want to say to all of you who have joined the last few months , we love your input , you have great takes , and keep your thoughts coming !

  I'm so glad that JWD exists - I have learned so much from reading all the posts, past and present. From the fact that there are kindred spirits like myself who are disgusted with the 'False and Deceitful Slave, to the scandals and cover-ups ('Drunk' Rutherford, Our 'Pedophile Paradise'), to the personal stories that always touch my heart, and the sage advice of the those who have blazed the trail of freedom before me -- I appreciate it all.

  I realize that in the grand scheme of things, the JW's don't really amount to much (except in their own universe), but they are are a cult, and as such, are particularly dangerous and damaging to any and all who cross their path. (I'm sure that there are some lurkers out there that think that I'm mistaken; my response to them is to PROVE ME WRONG. Go on, have at...if it's an honest dialogue, you might learn something!)

  JWD is a priceless resource of information, as are all the sites that help inform responsible persons about the WTS and its myriad false prophecies, its deceitful image of spiritual and familial peace and unity, its haphazard, biased and asinine doctrines concerning medical care and sexual intimacy, and its egregious and offensive policies concerning those who have a differing opinion. I wish it were possible to shut down the WTS due to the magnitude of the deception and destruction that it has wrought, but a person has the right to choose his/her religion. Let all who would partake of the WatchTower's poisoned table go in with both eyes opened.
