Here's the reason for the 3% jump in publishers for the past year
by sir82 init is immigration that explains the vast majority of the increase.. who is it that immigrates?
the poorest of the poor, the desperate ones that would be dead from starvation or execution by gangs/guerillas within 5 years anyway.
these were not the ones being converted in their home countries - when you have to work 14-18 hours a day, 7 days a week just to feed your family, there is no time to "study", attend meetings, go out in field servce, etc.. so, they go to their new country.

A general question - Is anyone on this site actually in good standing with their congregation?
I am. The initial reason why began to miss meetings was because of an recurring illness. This illness actually saved my life, because while I was recuperating, it gave me a chance to sit back and ponder the inconsistencies of being in ''the Truth''. There were days that I was better, but on those days I was not keen on going to the meetings. Subconsciously my mind was rejecting all of the lies. I did a lot of research (how I wish this information was available before I joined!), and I made the decision to leave, once and for all. The elders know of my illness, which is why they don't fuss with me. When I see them, I'm respectful, but I keep them at a distance. I feel for the average JW who doesn't the know of the horrific history of this cult. I long to tell my relatives and friends of the real truth behind the WTS. It took me a while to come to my senses, but I'm glad I did!

How Would You Feel?

i realize that this has already happened to some of you, but it is a new experience for me.
a mutual friend put me in touch with old jw friends and family from my former congregation who have exited the organization.

I am really happy for you and your friends, CoCo!
I don't think that I could adequately express the emotions that I would feel, knowing that someone escaped the Borg. And I don't know if they would necessarily be happy -- they may not be, having come to the realization that they were lied to. But I would hope that they would be happy. After all, they escaped a cult --and not just any cult, but one of the most dangerous and pernicious cults out there. They escaped with their life.
