Oh wow this is an interesting thread. I'd have to say nada nothing. I can't claim to believe in anything really. Maybe science as in things need to be proven to me but even then there is always doubt. I'm 37 now and with my personality I think when I am 90 my questions will still not be answered. It seems as though there is only more and more questions as time goes by. Oh is that more words then you wanted..lol.

Own up time...
by Chalam inwell it looks like this site is a real melting pot, a broad spectrum of views and beliefs.
for sure there are many disaffected ex jws.
so in as few words as possible, preferably not more than one sentence, how would you describe yourself spiritually?

A man went to a pet shop and purchased a parrot. Apparently, the parrot had belonged to a Jehovah'sWitness because it kept repeating, "Read the Watchtower and Awake. Avoid wordly associations. The end of this system of things is near." Squawk.
Well, the new owner of the bird attempted to add new vocabulary to the parrot's repertoire with books on tape and contemporary music, but as the months went by it became obvious that nothing could break through. The parrot continued to repeat the standard catchphrases of the Watch Tower Society and nothing else.
The owner finally became frustrated and infuriated and, in a fit of violent anger, threw the parrot across the room.
The parrot smashed against the wall, and slid down to the floor, at which point the parrot immediately started squawking:
"No Blood! No Blood! No Blood!" -

I wish the nightmares would stop.
by Micky4321 indo any of you have nightmares as a result of the jw religion.
i haven't been to any meetings in 17 years but i have nightmares a couple times a month about the whole thing.
in my dreams the scenario will be i am at an assembly or a meeting against my will and everyone is ignoring me and some are glaring at me and i am trying to leave but for some reason i can't get out of the building.

<<The last post, mine, is my literary interpretation of a dream I have had for decades. It involves being surrounded by demonds and stcuk in sleep paralasis. As Witnesses we are taught that if you shout God's name, you will be saved. I had a girlfriend watch me through the entire thing. She said I kept wispering "Jah". That's all I could get out because of the sleep paralasis. I finally woke up, as I always do, screaming "Jehovah". My heart is racing and I'm soaking wet.>>
That's what I thought it was about I didn't want to assume. Some of the wording I wasn't sure. And I have had these type of dreams also. Not very often though. I had my first ones when I was in my early 20's, I'm 37 now. The first time I had them it only lasted for about 3 or 4 days every day. What I experienced was fading off to sleep in the morning after already waking up. Then starting to wake up and feeling like something was crawling into bed with me and holding me down and I could not move or scream like you say in your dreams.
I got very angry at this after it happend for many days in a row and would say Jehovah when I would finally wake up. I actually could tell I was dreaming in my mind and would shake my head to wake myself up. It kept happening for several days and it got to the point where I was not scared anymore and just plain angry. When it happened to me way back then the final time I woke up totally and yelled out knock it off leave me alone, it stopped happening to me for a long time.
I didn't know what it was at the time but with the JW religion I thought I was being attacked but then as I thought about it rationally I thought maybe it was my fears about that and the fact that I got angry and was able to just yell out and scream saying stop this that I was able to confront my fears and that's why it stopped.
It's happened since then off and on but rarely. I've even upon waking have seen things standing in my room like spirits or something. I'm not convinced about it all being Satan. I think it's all in my mind. But I do have to say the subject is interesting if there really is something like that out there. I keep an open mind in all of that. JW's seem to believe any spirit is evil and demons or satan. I think it's possible that people pass on and there spirits are still here sometimes. I don't know I just don't claim to have all the answers.
But I have definately heard about the sleep paralysis thing. From my understanding it's when we just are waking up so we are still in a dream state but partially awake so we can see things that are not there.
Another interesting fact about it is people who are Schizophrenic and see things thatt aren't there basically see things while they are awake just like someone who is dreaming when they are asleep would see.
I've researched this subject.

The lines to the womens bathroom were always I mile long I remember that. I've been to other events like concerts and other large places like that and have never seen such long lines for the bathroom. Must have been people just wanting to get out of the room because they were bored out of there minds.

The hypocrisy is astounding isn't it? I have a brother who was never DF'd or DA'd but has been gone for 25 years about. He's smoked, done drugs, been with different women out of wedlock but he could go to the party. It doesn't make sense to me. I've given up on trying to make sense of it though.

<<Special talk on how to properly mix kool-aid?>> I've seen Kool-Aid comments on this board the last couple days. I'm out of the loop what does it mean? I've heard it before referring to other people but not sure what the reference to JW's means. Sounds pretty funny.

My mother shunned me for 7 years about and then now will talk to me and have me to there house but not a family thing she has to make sure neither one of my brothers are there the two that are elders. One thing she did do just a few years ago. I was livid about this. I think that made the nightmares get worse and more often.
She purposely told me about a party she had at her house with my Grandpa and Grandma and they are not even JW's, my grandpa was very against the religion. Anyway she told me how they were there and the entire rest of the family and a bunch of JW's also and how I was not allowed to come because I was disfellowshipped. This seems to be her way to try to movivate me to become a JW again. Like if I came back I could come to parties like this. Well it really does the opposite. I always think why would I want to come back and be around people who would treat me this way.
I was just so angry I just think that is sooooo mean to tell someone about a party and say you can't come. I talk to her some still mostly through email. I don't think she understands that this abuse is not something I want in my life.
